So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Who's with me?

I laughed out loud so many times tonight :rotfl:

I can't wait til next week; I love the Vegas episodes!

Someone fill me in! I don't have a TV anymore, and Fox is all over youtube, so they're never posted. What happened???

I love when Sex is on. Such a trainwreck, I just can't look away.

I can't wait for Vegas. :)

"Sex" and another wacky dancer named Leo had a dance-off.
Lots of other funnies, including a fairy medicine dance i think it was called??

Who else thought the brother & sister who danced together was just plain weird? :confused3

I'm in. I've always loved dance. It was my dream but I had to let it go.

I really only started watching all the way through last year so I didn't know all about sex. :scared1: :rolleyes1 Sex had a battle tonight. I do get why they did it and put him through to choreography (scary as it was). The problem is he doesn't get it.

The 17 yr old Blew Me Away!!!! He was awesome. :thumbsup2 I will certainly be watching for him next season.

The breakdancer dude was odd.. he wasnt all THAT great but I think with some choriography he would be better.. but he killed it for himself

Ok I had to rewind my DVR since I am so bad with names. :lmao: but it Nathan Trasoras. He had on a white Tee and red shorts and pulled his pockets out if that helps.

Nigel gave him a ticket straight to Vegas for next season.

Dance mom checking in! The last 2 years, the last day of school and the premier of SYTYCD have been on the same day, so we have hosted a sleepover of DDs' dance friends! Last year, I had 6 kids including my 2; this year I had 10! I'm afraid to see what next year holds!!!! But I wouldn't trade it for anything! My fellow dance moms stick around, and we enjoy adult beverages, then they leave after the show, and all the kids sleep over! Much fun had by all!

Most definitely will be watching - :happytv:.

I wonder if SEX will be back again???

He's Baaaaaccccckkkkkk! (she types in her best Poltergiest imitation!)

Speaking of...

Thought you might like this just in case you don't get to see him this season.:lmao:

My daughter (the shorty with the short hair) and her friends met him AND his mom. He was in several of the same advanced (:scared1:) classes that they were in when they did a PULSE summer intensive in NYC.

We're excited for another season of SYTYCD.:woohoo: Watched them all, but thought last season was not one of the better ones. DD18 was going to audition for this season, but decided not to. She had a lot of dance friends and dance instructors that really encouraged her to audtion, but I think she was a bit intimidated at the prospect. She had several friends audition, but none of them made it as far as the judges.

One friend made it through the improv and got cut right before the final level in front of the judges. She's an excellent dancer, but she did say that she felt they were looking more for "quirky" type of dancers this season and not so much for contemporary.

Hope it's a good season!:)

Auditions in Phoenix in a month! Tell her to go for it! Nothing ventured; nothing gained!

No, he doesn't and sadly, that is what makes good TV. Two teachers from our studio auditioned in Seattle, and accordiing to them, he was 5 or 6 people behind them in line (nice guy, but a little off was the final verdict!). While both were featured in the "outside the sudition venue line" shots, neither even made it to the "solo in front of the judges" round (actually round 3 from what I understand). Then to see David (I'm with Nigel on calling him by his given name), get put through to choreography just blows!

Can't wait to see the top 20! My faves so far are Brandon and Natalie (2 from last year who both just missed last year's top 20).

i love how theres been like 4 tappers to make it to vegas.. maybe this is the year of the tapper lol

She just decided that she is going to audition in Phoenix in June!!!! We were in Los Angeles yesterday to watch her dance in a choreographer's showcase. Not sure if anyone here has heard about it, but it's called Carnival, and it's an opportunity for chosen choreographers to showcase their work. We saw some absolutely stunning and amazing choreographers and dancers!!! Anyway, she's going along with three other dance friends to audition for SYTYCD. Two of the girls auditioned for this season and both got cut before the solo section. One of the girls was seen on tv tonight, standing outside with the umbrellas in Seattle.:)

The funny thing about her auditioning in Phoenix is that we're leaving tomorrow for Maine. So, she is going to fly back to Arizona, audition with her friends, then fly back to Maine. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....!

It's frustrating to watch the audition shows on tv. So much of what you see is strictly for show and entertainment. The dancers (or in a lot of cases, non-dancers) that manage to make it in friont of the judges are picked beforehand. There are many, many very talented dancers that never make it to the final step where they perform in front of the judges. I think it's easier for a lousy dancer to make it on tv during the auditions than for a good dancer!

My daughter figures it'll be fun just to go and have the experience of auditioning. So many others say time and again that they see that "something" in her, so who knows.:confused3 I'm sure the same can be said for a lot of other very talented dancers, too! I think luck plays a large part in which talented dancers make it through to perform in front of the judges.

I'm looking forward to this season of SYTYCD. I've seen some amazing dancers so far.:)

Subscribing! We love this show! DD14 is SOOOO excited to see so many tappers! She's one, and thinks they get short shrift. She does other stuff, too, but tap is her strongest.

And I have to agree with the PP who said they should have dance acts, rather than singers, for entertainment. It's a dance show, for Pete's sake! And there's no shortage of interesting dance troupes, in a wide variety of styles, that could perform. It's really an opportunity to showcase different styles of dance, techniques, etc. Especially since you have people tuning in, who would never watch a waltz competition or belly dancing or something--show them something new and exciting! I loved seeing Nigel tap last season-the kids were great, too, and you could just see the joy and love that makes Nigel the genius behind the show.

I am trying to find a dance from Wed. night. The guy auditioned and so did his brother. His brother used a whoopee cushion. He did an old time, Fred Astaire type dance. My son's dance teacher wants him to do a solo like that, and I am trying to show it to him. I saw it and loved it, but I erased it.

My son won't watch the show until they get to Vegas. He hates the bad dancers.

Good luck to your daughter!

I am actually familiar with Carnival! Several dancers from our studio participated. They worked with Jessica Starr.

I thought that the dance that the guy that does the wacky rubber body stuff and the girl whose mom was in the car accident did was really good.
(I'm so bad with names!)

The brother and sister were a little TOO close :scared1:
