So You Think You Can Dance Season 6

It just would have redeemed this poor season had they done something spur of the moment like that. I think the dancers are professional enough to remember past dances (I mean they have to do them on tour). SYTYCD just exposed themselves showing that maybe they just can't handle being live afterall. And that is sad if the judges have to be scripted on what to say- Guess they weren't choosing *their* favorites after all.

The show must go on! And I guess showing 3 previously recorded dances is they way to do it.

I'm sorry to say that it just doesn't work that way.

I have always known that the "which one was your favorite"--were always scripted. There isn't anyway they could not be scripted....

Considering the dancers were frequently changing their costumes for their upcoming numbers that noone even mentioned, yet. ;)

I zipped through most of the show--I do know they showed the original number they performed on the first night of the show (the show they did not compete) and it was a taped performance.

Agreed since I recognized Billy Bell in that particular number!

Overall, I was disappointed in this season. Despite some shining moments, it was basically dull. I'm glad Russell won since hie joie de vive was apparent in every second that he stepped on the stage! Of course, I did have to explain adrenaline to my kids after he won!

I'm very glad they are going back to a summer show. Far too many concessions were made for this "fall" season due to baseball, Christams, etc). SYTYCD is an awesome summer show! I hated it in the fall. My girls are dancers and they love watching the show. When they have to go to bed before it is over or miss it competely because they have dance class or school the next day, it's no fun. The last couple of years, the summer season has premiered on our last day of school. For the last 3 years we have had several of the girls' dance friends over for the premiere. THis summer we were up to 14 kids sleeping over after the premier! But when Season 6 premiered in the fall (on a school night), and I was watching it with just my DH and DDs, I felt like something was missing! Can't wait for Season 7 to premier on the last day of school again!

I just don't see the point of why it "needs" to be a live show? Are they really so worried about the results leaking? I mean this isn't the presidential election!

I know the finale was live and I didn't really see it but isn't the performance show taped? I'm sure it is. Even parts of the results show is taped. The group performances are all pre-taped aren't they?

...didn't you notice how, when Kat asked each judge what their fave was, they 'looked down' every so often, as if reading a script, to 'introduce' their choice....you are right, BTW, about them using those specific dances on tour....

Hate to say it, but all indications are no tour. Wasn't promoted on the show, which is definitely the way they sell the majority of the tickets. Isn't on the Fox website. I'm pretty sure the rumors are correct, no tour.

One thing I thought last night's show planned correctly was showing the Top 20 Wade Robson number. It's particularly unfortunate that Russell's injury forced them to use video on that one, because that was one last chance for all of them to shine. It was a great number to see again.

In the age of cell phones, texting and Twitter? They seriously run the risk of low viewership on that. Their advertisers would not be happy.

I thought more of the favorites were taped than just the Russell dances. I don't have a problem with them mixing it up with taped and live. No biggie to me. I tivo and run through a lot of the junk anyway. I didn't have to listen to Debbie Allen or the other guy (can't think of his name) who makes up words. It was great!

...wow, I'm surprised....

Agreed since I recognized Billy Bell in that particular number!

That confused a lot of people, since Billy tweeted that he wasn't at the show the other night, clearly answering people who thought he was by that performance.

I was glad to see Russel win ... this was one of the first SYTYCD seasons that I was actually happy with the entire lineup of finalists; I'd have been happy with any of them as the winner -- they were all great!

I don't see any way the "favorite" dances can't be pre-selected ... I can't imagine any dancers being good enough to completely remember the choreography of something that they learned for ONE show, possibly weeks ago! It'd be different if they were doing the same dances multiple nights (like in a tour or a Broadway show) ... but, I'm sure that as soon as they're finished with one dance, they're focused on the next one!

Surely, they're all told what the judges have selected to see on the finale so they can rehearse!
