I am just curious but who is also driving to Disney and where are you coming from? I always drive down every yearit makes the trip so much fun! and this year we are driving down again except normally we go from Jersey..this time it is from WVU...a little bit of a shorter ride yay!....So who else drives down? and what do u do for fun on the rides down? :cool1:

We're planning on driving down all the way from Maine. We did it in 99 from NJ and swore we'd never do it again. But, this is a very tight budget trip so we're going to try it. If gas prices go up much more we'll probably fly though. Luckily Southwest flies out of Manchester, NH nonstop and they're very affordable. I guess we'll see what happens come September!

we always drive down from louisville. its a 13 hrs drive and it's been done 3 times now.

were driving up to orlando from ft lauderdale. about 2.5 hr drive w/o traffic 3.5 with heavy traffic :moped: :moped:

Driving from Northern Iowa, with three kids. We will have lots of fun!!! :moped: Forgot to add, would be 18.25 hrs straight through, but are stopping for an overnight. :thumbsup2

It looks like I'll be driving for my upcomming August trip. I drove from Chicago to Orlando in 2002 with four adults and two 5 year old twin boys and swore I wouldn't do it again. The airfares are pretty high and I'm thinking my family might do it again but just my family and no one else. It's 1200 miles from my doorstep to the Poly, one way! I'm still hoping I can get a great deal on airafare though. I do remember it being a pretty drive going through Kentucky and Tenn.

We have always driven. 12 hours one way. Georgia always seem to go on forever. My husband does all the driving though so it's not that bad. He says he's comfortable doing it, but I have a feeling he may not trust my driving.
We have the teens always pack their personal CD players and my 5 year old his Doodle Board (loves to draw). We have also taken the electronic 20 Questions game with us. It's amazing how often it's right. We always leave in the AM hours so the kids sleep for about 1/3 of the way. I hate the long ride, but flying is not an option with my husband. Disney is so worth it though!

2nddhildhood, so your kids like Electric 20 questions?Ive seen the card game, but not this, is this something you can pick up at Walmart or someplace similar? our kids are from 5-14 and I think they would all love that!!

I have never driven long distances. The longest is about 4 hrs. My wife dosen't drive, but I always wanted to try it. Kind of scared though. My wife always says, why drive when your can be there in two hours by plane, and I always cave in. Any tips on a chicken like me attempting this drive for the first time.

i drove once to chicago from ft lauderdale and it was a two day drive, and anything over a 6 hr car ride is now by airplane or not @ all for me.

It's great and such fun. We got ours at Wal-Mart for around $9. It's small and round and easy to pack. It has a scrolling display which ask you if you're thinking of an animal, vegetable, mineral or other. And then it goes on to ask you 19 more questions. It's almost always right. One time it even quessed correctly that we were thinking of an "eyelash". How odd is that?

Georgia always seem to go on forever

And Northern Florida is just as bad if not worse on I-75.

Oh God, people who have not driven it have no clue of the sheer boredom that awaits once they clear Macon all the way through to Gainesville. And really, there isn't much between Gainesville and Ocala, nor Ocala and Orlando. And it comes right at the end when you're most tired. Man I hate that drive.

Georgia does seem to take forever, but once we hit Florida, it seems to go by pretty quick. Maybe it's because were that much closer to Disney :thumbsup2 I love hearing the accents change as we get deeper in the south, and hashbrowns suddenly turns into grits at Cracker Barrels.

We always drive it's a 16 hour drive for us here from barely Indiana nearly Kentucky to disney but we break up the drive by stopping over night. We've made the drive many many times. When DD was younger I made her a bag with stuff to do in it now that she's older she packs her own. Myself I'm always glad to be in the comfort of my van and not on a harley chopper with a hard tail did that trip to Florida a few times too. Otherwise in good weather I usually find myself wishin I was on Dyna or Christine in bad weather usually glad to be in my cage.

Other posters been right KY and TN are beautiful Georgia sucks seems to take forever and we have yet to find a place in Georgia we like to stop at for food or a nights stay. The worst being the Mickey D's that had the baby changing table in the dining room (roflmao)

Usually we leave about 4 or 4:30 pm which is rush hour traffic thru Louisville Ky but we can by pass louisville very easy and go down to Elizabethtown and pick up I65 from there and miss all the city driving in KY. We drive till about 10 or 11 pm get a room for the night. Up early next mornin and drive the rest of the way and stay just outside disney the 2nd night.

We're driving this year from WV. Its about a 14-15 hour trip. Dh won't stop for the night til we get past Jacksonville so we usually check into our resort early the next day and have plenty of time to go to Epcot.

20 Hour drive here from Northville, Michigan! Every other year... This year being an ON year.

Never flown down so all I know is long trip. I used to think OHIO was horrible to get through going south. Georgia beats them all ;) That state is damn huge and especially when you are so excited about just getting to the florida border. Yeah Florida is hard too, but its the last state after a 5 state convoy, I can handle it

Driving down this August, from lovely Sicklerville, NJ. (between Philly and Jersey shore) :moped: This will be our 2nd time driving down. Luckily our kids are a little older and hopefully videos, Ipod's and PSP's will keep them entertained. We plan on making it all the way to the Georgia/Florida border before stopping for the night.

We are driving and leaving today!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
It will also take us about 20 hours--- from Michigan!!!!

We drive every year from Western NY. 1200 miles for us!!!

We take 77 and cut over 26 to 95 in SC. That makes the Georgia portion of our trip super short. :teeth:

Maybe that is why we like it so much!!! hehehe

We usually stay in SC on the way down. DH doesn't like to let me drive. :confused3

Ah well....not complaining.

We pull out of the driveway in 18 days!!!
