So..when are FLA. schools out for Columbus holiday?

Is EVERYONE out of school on the Friday before Columbus day thru Monday? Just trying to get a feel for the holiday weekend... it seems REAL busy!

It varies...just did a quick check. Doesn't look like Orange County or Osceola counties (closest to WDW) are out at all those days. Seminole which is nearby is off Friday as part of a fall break, but not Monday. Here in Volusia county we're not off either. Don't know about other areas of the state. I know that when we moved here I was very surprised that Columbus Day seems to be just another day....wouldn't even know it's a holiday other than the banks being closed and no mail delivery.

We aren't out for Columbus Day instead we are out Friday the 13th down here in South Central Florida.

Tallahassee (North Florida) - we are also out on Friday October 13. Columbus Day isn't considered a holiday here!

North Florida here, we are not out for Columbus Day at all. When I moved down South years ago, I was told Columbus Day is a 'Yankee" holiday, whatever that means.

In Brevard County (Space Coast) we are not off either. We were supposed to have off the 13th also but it's a make-up day now because of the day off for Ernesto...

Lucky you! they took November 22nd away from us!!!! All these other stupid days off and they take from our Thanksgiving holiday. Nothing like messing up our going home plans!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the wording of my post. I know what the word Yankee means, I grew up in Boston area, but why would Columbus Day be a Yankee holiday? We all live in the country he supposedly discovered. I just found it funny.
