So a lot of people have been asking me about the contemporary meet, how did it start ,and why do we go every single solitary Friday night. (like dont we have a life)
So let me tell you the why, who, and how, of the Contemporary meet in my own words.
A lot of people have tried to take credit for the pin meet at the Contemporary, some have even gone up to the creator and said hey you see this I started all this, or these people are all here because I told them about this place, or my favorite I asked one person to meet me here a week ago and look what happened, this must be my doing.
No Sorry, but the credit goes to a white haired lady we all know and love by the name of Kathryn Bell (PINTRADER QUEEN OF PIN UNIVERSE) shell never brag on herself so Ill do it for her she is responsible for everything thus far. She visited the Contemporary many moons ago, and saw potential, the pin station there even though it was one of the nicest (now its even better) hardly had any visitors sooooo Ms Kathryn talked to the pin man himself AKA castmember Scott, they got together met with all the right people and the Contemporary pin meet was born.
Ms. Kathryn Bell AKA Pintrader started the contemporary meet way back when I was about 3 years old Okay okay 14 years old, anyway it was started a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, she wanted a place where people could go and trade in peace, so we crown it her baby. (Im a godfather soooos Ill make yous an offer you cant refuse listen to my tale)
Now dont get me wrong there are other places to go and trade theres Epcot, Market Place, the Disney stores if you dont mind sitting on the floor that is. If you ask most people that have been to the other places they will tell you they didnt like it because it was hardcore pin trading at its finest. Plus the fact that those places are wall-to-wall tourist and people, nothing helps your trade go better than a person looking over your shoulder going what are you doing, or if your British whats all this about mate
So the Contemporary pin meet was born a place where you could trade and not worry about whats going on around you, it started out small and started to grow Thats where I come in I was looking for a place to trade, my son in law found it first, tested the waters and told us it was safe to swim.
Kathryn after a while started t trust us (foolish girl) and asked us to help expand the meet To which we said well YEA. And since its her baby, you can say were godparents cool huh.

Clean fun great trading no sharking and a good time by all below are some comments I have received.
Best trading night of my life, Im so glad you guys started this Ive been afraid to go trading elsewhere, I feel safe here
Some reasons and benefits of going to the Contemporary pin meets

Kathryn is always there beating the distance record every week she drives over an hour and a half every day one way to make the meet, she is a wealth of pin knowledge and can answer any questions you have about pins.

Best pin station around, and now we are recognized as an official pin meet spot, we have signs and tables, and are listed as an official pin meet for the Dis-con.

Most the people from the Dis boards are working their vacation schedules to come to the Friday meets (thank you gang its most appreciated)

There are a group of us that walk around and make sure everybodys happy, if sharks invade the waters, and they have from time to time, we dont have a problem speaking our minds if we see some bad trades going on that is.

Children are welcomed and protected, and if they are trading they will be treated no different as any other trader, they will just be treated the same. (This is my part I love the kids)

A chance to talk with my wife who sees all, and knows all, and is the social butterfly of the pin meet, talk to her once and you will love her forever. (Shes a people person)

You will get a chance to trade no matter what, there have been more than 100 traders every Friday night, and the number is growing. If your getting any traders see me Ill fix it. (Yes Im that good, trust me)

Yes we get them from all over from Japan, England, Paris, and Connecticut (go Caballeros and Dom) they stop at Contemporary first.

Cast members galore this is there spot, and they like it here. You see for the longest time some thought their cast pins were worthless, thats what they were told anyway, well we kinda changed that, and now we have adopted like 10 of them from the college program, and OMG you should see the pins they get from company D. Also a lot of cast members dont get off until the parks close, so they just hop the monorail to the Contemporary and show up around 10:00pm.

Plenty of space to move around and get comfy, we have chairs, tables, a great view of the fireworks once the windows are done that is, and yes by golly a smoking section. Restaurants galore, and for the non-pin trading spouses a bar.

Trading into the wee hours of the night I leave mostly by 1:00am and always leave people behind, security dont mind, trade all night if you want, after all the cafeterias open 24hrs.

Some reallllllllllly big high up people visit the meet one super VIP (who will remain nameless because he asked us too) even feels safe enough to drop off his grandkid and lets him pin trade for as long as he wants. (You want to talk about pins like the ones given to VIPs) Uhmmm sharks dont even think about it remember all kids are protected.

All night long you hear people laughing and having a good time, and a good time you are guaranteed. If your not having a good time again see me.

You get to meet my grandkids Crystal, Heather, Brook, and Adrian (the hyper one)
In closing I would like to say lets all give a round of applause to Ms Kathryn for a wonderful thing she created, she should look around and be proud of her baby every Friday night.
My family and myself would like to thank her for a two things, one the pin meet, and two a chance to be part of it all.

you have to be specific these pin people will find loop holes in everything.
