I am assuming photoshop and what brand? I searched and there are lots! Some are super exspensive. But I saw on the other thread that you could use Ms word as well. Of course I have neither one. Can you use Picasa? Thanks
I use photoshop elements. A good thing about it is there are lots of great tutorials online. For example there are tons of great video tutorials on youtube that show you the actual screen and the mouse walking through each step. There is also a forum similar to this one but just for photoshop elements at www.elementsvillage.com
I use Photoshop CS3, but I was a professional designer for 15 years and I still freelance, so I need the professional programs (and pay big $$ for them.) Many here use Photoshop Elements and I can't tell the difference from CS3.
I use Photoshop CS4. As of now I really don't us it for much other than designing here and some photo editing. Everything I have learned is by utilizing the tutorials and just playing around with it. I am hoping to take some classes while I'm at school to learn more about it.
This program very expensive to buy. If your looking at purchasing a copy of it, be prepared to fork out $2500 for the full version and anywhere from 900-1500 for an upgrade.
I use Corel Paint Shop Pro... I am not a DISigner, but I do a lot of graphic work for my own uses. I taught myself to use it by following online tutorials...
I currently use Photoshop CS4 but used Photoshop Elements prior to a great upgrade offer from Adobe. I'd recommend PS Elements as there are many tutorials on-line, an absolutely fabulous forum www.elementsvillage.com, and it's only around $100.
I ordered the PSE from Dell. My dh had just ordered a new laptop the night before so, it was easy just to add it to the order. Now my next question is should load on his new one because it will have better graphics and MS word as well. I have a new laptop as well. But it doesn't have all the bells and whistles. Not sure I will be able to talk him into it! lol!

That all depends on how much of a difference there is between the two laptops. If your laptop is newer , it probably will not make a huge difference.
I bought mine less than a year ago and it seems to work just find for the designs here, but runs a little hard when doing big jobs though, but not to bad.
Here is what I have for my laptop:
MSI
Intel core 2 duo- 2 ghz
4 gig memory
350 gig HD
32 bit Windows Vista
Also I have a 512 mb-discrete video card(ATI Radeon HD4670, meaning it is not built on to the mother board and hogging the system memory.
