So what makes you happy at WDW that probably makes no one else happy???

I love the anticipation of the shows (sitting in the bleachers for LMA, lining up for Fantasmic, picking which animal section you want to sit in for FotLK, etc).

It is so fun riding Expedition Everest in the single rider line! I love meeting new people on the ride and DH will not ride roller coasters. I like to strike up a quick conversation ("Have you been on this ride before?"-type questions) and see their reaction.

Fabulous thread!

I love taking a shower at the resort and smelling that Florida water smell for the first time. It's a little musty smelling, but I adore it-same goes for the smell of the water rides.

As someone else posted, the ride back to the resort after a long day at one of the parks. Even after it rains and the entire bus smells like its transporting a herd of yak I love it. I especially love it when the bus driver turns off the lights, it's so relaxing.

We stay at the All-Stars, and my sister and I always say, "we're almost home!" when we pass the McDonald's on the bus.

I love watching those big white birds in the parks-cranes? They just don't give a hoot about anything. Same goes for the ducks.

Taking the monorail even when it's not convenient to your hotel, because, well, you just *have* to. We always go to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot. When the monorail goes for that loop around Futureworld before going to the station I get chills.

The buses. I can never not be happy on the buses. Whether I'm coming or going, I sit there and soak it all in!
I love watching (and participating in) the excitement of being on our way to a park - especially the first trip. I love the sounds - especially coming back to POR. My DD and I also love the part in the safety announcement about not eating, drinking, or smoking and taking small children by the hand. We always try to beat the announcement "No smoking!" I say then she says "No eating or drinking!" Then before we disembark, I always take her by the hand. Even though she's 12 and almost as tall as me.
We do this too!!! My DD's are 13 and 16 and this is exactly our tradition too (except it's POFQ lol).

  • The first sight of Spaceship Earth when you arrive in the parking lot
  • Hearing the Horizons' music mix in the music in Future World
  • A game my friends and family love to play is while waiting for the monorail is to try to guess the color we'll get
  • Seeing the Haunted Mansion light up and night and wait for the shadows in the window and try to anticipate when the thunder and lighting will strike.
  • Walking into Mexico and looking up at the ceiling painted like the sky at dusk.

The overwhelming smell of Laila perfume when you walk into Puffin's Roost.....I buy a bottle every trip, and when I wear it at home I'm immediately back in WS :cloud9:

I love arriving at our resort and immediately feeling completely immersed by the theming--at first, I don't even want to leave for the parks, but just soak in that super relaxing feeling of well-being. And I've felt that way at all 4 resorts I've stayed at. It's strongest for me in the early mornings there and I am not a morning person.

The way Spaceship Earth looks at night with the lights on it

The topiary Disney characters visible from the monorail

Noticing all the quiet, well-thought out Disney details in the parks and in the resorts--don't know why, but I got ridiculously excited when I saw the pics of the Aladdin lamp faucets in the royal rooms at POR :)

The squirting fountains at Epcot and the boat ride there where you see how hydroponic plants are grown

The "Circlevision 360" movies at Epcot--even the one you have to stand for!

Getting my refillable mug for the trip, and then smiling and thinking about Disney every time I use it at home

Love this thread! Our family vote is...

Por favor mantangese alejada de las puertas (pardon all typos;)

And of course the smell of the Bay Lake Tower lobby. I think I've found a scent at home that is close...Bath & Body's springtime tangerine hand soap.

Not that I like it all the time but we have had some great times as a family waiting in ride lines. Time to slow down a bit, stay together as a group, have a few laughs.

The smell of the Dolphin lobby.
So many other things already mentioned. And
"Gooooooddd Morning Vietnaaaaaammmmm!!"

Can totally relate to a lot of previous posts! Smells are definitely something I associate with Disney:

  • The smell of the fountain in Mexico, has sort of a chlorine smell
  • Sulfer smell of Spaceship Earth though I didn't smell it last time we were there!
  • The bus ride on the Magic Express to the resort. Makes me so happy and excited, love the little video in the beginning!
  • The feeling of air conditioning in our room when coming in from the Florida heat
  • Feeling the Florida heat when we exit the airport, particularly when it's cold back home!

I love this thread!

Mine are:
Hearing, "Welcome home."
When my daughters were little and all the CMs called them "princess"
"We're on our way to Disney's Magic Kingdom."
Walking around Wilderness Lodge at sunrise with my cup of coffee.
How all the resorts smell so good. How do they do that?
The Tiki Room
Magic Kingdom and EPCOT at night.
Chatting with other guests.
Watching my girls grow and change and seeing how their Disney interests change over time.

Most of all, making wonderful memories with my family away from work, school and other commitments so it's just US!

I love a lot of what others have written.

One that hasn't been mentioned that I love is the Space Mountain queue music! It's just so perfect for that attraction. I also love the hologramish images shown along the way.

I love the excitement at the resort bus stop. Waiting... Waiting... Anticipating... I see a Bus! Will it turn in here? It's coming in! Kids, get ready! It is ours? Can't read the sign yet. Come on, hurry up! Is it ours? It says... wait... wait... ((our theme park))! YAY!!!!

I can relate to many of these, but for me it is slowly walking "the long way" around the world showcase well after Illuminations is over. I love the lighting in each country, and hearing the music representative of each country. It is often so empty that you feel like you have the world to yourself.

There are many that others have already posted that I totally agree with. I admit that I've not read the entire thread yet, so my short list here MAY be duplicating others; but, here are the ones I've though of while reading....

*Driving into MK parking lots and deciding Villains or Heroes? Heroes or Villains?...Always ends up being a last second decision.
*In Wizard of Oz scene of Great Movie Ride -- when the CM says "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore! How many times can you say that?" We always answer, "Every time we're here!!!" (We ARE from Kansas).
*The horribly disgusting smell of the exhaust from the Parking Trams. I know it's probably just a standard diesel smell; but, there seems to be something special about it at Disney!!
*(While on topic of smells...) The smell of the monorail cars. Who else thinks they smell like diaper pee?? Yet...again...being at Disney, it really doesn't seem like that's a bad thing.

I also love to hold on to the vertical stainless steel rails as they twist when the monorail door closes.

My DS (15) started doing that on our very first trip when he was only 4; and it is now an ongoing 'tradition' and big deal for him.

"Promising Tomorrows"... I have requested it to be used in my funeral. DW says I'm not getting it

What a great thread!
...entering the Wilderness Lodge property on the Magical Express bus and rounding the corner and there it is in all it's splendour!
...riding the "People Mover" (yes I know it's the Tomorrowland Transit Authority but it will always be the People Mover to me) at night after a long day of walking in the Magic Kingdom. There's usually a cool fall breeze and it's so relaxing.
...Art of Animation stores at Epcot and Downtown Disney.
...riding the boat from the Magic Kingdom to the Wilderness Lodge after a long day and seeing the Lodge all lit up.
...walking back to Epcot in the evening after eating at Yachtsman Steakhouse or Cape May holding hands with DH. We've been married 35 years this year but it's still romantic.
...standing on Main Street watching Wishes with DH behind me with his arms around me. It doesn't get any better than that.

For each park:

MK: Listening to my now teen sing along to "Wishes" during the fireworks just like she did when she was younger.
Epcot: The different smells in Soarin'.
DHS: Being there for the Dancing Lights and fake snow on Christmas Eve (and we're not even Christian).
AK: The Dawa bar for a relaxing drink and a sit-down.
