So what is everyone's thought on Southwest will they open schedule tomorrow?

Just wondering what everyone's feeling is on Southwest, will they or will they not open the schedule up further tomorrow?

I am watching Southwest for March. Is there a system of when they open up more dates (like the 2nd Saturday of the month, or the 6th of every month...)?

They just opened up to Feb. 3rd a few days ago. It will probably be a while (3 weeks or so) before they open up more dates.

I don't think they follow any set pattern. Usually they're 4-6 months ahead.

I too am waiting for SWA to release March dates so I can book our flights and cross one more thing off my list.

jimmiej - I don't know if you remember me or not, but my son and I shared an Illuminations cruise with you and your family and a few other DIS members 3 or 4 summers ago. I see that you and your wife did the Segway tour. How was it? Now that my son is 16, he would LOVE to do the tour .

If you go to flyertalk forums on SWA, they have a formula on the FAQ for figuring out when the dates will come out. I figured it out for my last trip, and it was off 1 week exactly. So, still pretty close.

I wouldn't call it a formula.
They have historical data, but there is quite a bit of variation and no way to know for sure what they will do next.

Here is what they've done in the past:

May 14/03 - open to Oct 24/03

July 24/03 - open to Jan 16/04
Sep 19/03 - open to Mar 6/04
Oct 16/03 - open to April 2/04
Dec 11/03 - open to May 8/04
Jan 13/04 - open to Jun 11/04
Feb 13/04 - open to Aug 7/04
Mar 25/04 - open to Sep 13/04
May 5/04 - open to Oct 29/04
July 15/04 - open to Dec 11/04
July 29/04 - open to Jan 14/05
Sept 23/04 - open to Mar 3/05
Oct 22/04 - open to April 1/05
Dec 9/05 – open to Jun 6/05
Feb 18/05 – open to Aug 3/05
Mar 17/05 – open to Sept 12/05
May 12/05 - open to Oct 28/05

and here is some data based on those dates:
"2004 data, whenever the open schedule days drops down to to the 112-135 range (112 Jan, 119 Feb, 135 Mar, 131 May), the schedule is then extended to be in the 150-177 range (150 Jan, 176 Feb, 172 Mar, 177 May)."

But the last time they extended the schedule (sept 26th they extended to Feb 3rd), it was down to 105 days and they only extended it to 130 days.
So basically, the last extension broke the "formula" and they are running on a shorter schedule horizon than they normally would.
Right now, we're at 115 days, so it's anybody's guess when they will extend it and how far they will go.

I do remember you & your son! How have you been?

The Segway Tour is the best thing we've experienced at WDW. The pic I have is from our Feb. '05 trip. I already have another Segway Tour scheduled for our next trip, July '06.

I'm waiting for March too! It's not official until you can book those tickets.
