So what does "Resort/Pool View" really mean at Disneyland Hotel?

I've got a Resort/Pool View room booked, which on Disneyland's booking website is listed as Enjoy a memorable view of the Never Land Pool, Downtown Disney® District or Disney California Adventure™ Park from the third floor though sixth floor of the enchanted Disneyland® Hotel and I was hoping that we might get a view which included Downtown Disney and fireworks in the evening.

However when I contacted the resort a few days before our arrival (tomorrow, yay!!) two separate Front Desk/room assignment cast members told me by email in no uncertain terms that this booking category does not include any rooms with a Downtown Disney view (e.g. Adventure tower, facing DTD) but ONLY includes inner-facing pool views. They say the "Resort" part of the room description refers to the Disneyland Hotel Resort, not the wider Disneyland Resort.

So what is the real story - who is right, the website description or the hotel staff? Seems very misleading to me.

Andre

IME, you certainly can get a resort view (DTD from Adventure tower). I've done it many times with that category. In fact, I've ALWAYS gotten the Adventure tower resort view when I've requested it. The only difference between what you booked and a premium resort/pool view is the height of the floor. The top floors are the premium.

CMs don't often know much about those things. They usually aren't even at the hotel. You say you got front desk CMs, but I'm guessing you were actually talking to someone off site. Nevertheless, the information they gave you is wrong from my experience, which includes about 10 years of booking a few times a year at DLH.

ETA: Be sure to reiterate your request when you check in. The earlier you arrive, the more likely you will get your request filled. Does your confirmation letter have a place that gives you a phone number to call the day of your arrival to pre-register? It wouldn't hurt to call the hotel if you have that option. Since it looks like you're coming from the UK, you may not be able to do it but it's worth a try if you get the chance. (714) 778-6600 is the switchboard number, as I'm sure you already know.

Hi Andre! How the heck are you? :wave2:

I stayed at the DLH two weeks ago and cannot answer your question perfectly but may be able to add something.

First, maybe you see a different room option from the UK than I am seeing (?) but when I look on the DLR website I do not see a "Resort/Pool View" option -
https://disneyland.disney.go.com/hotels/disneyland-hotel/rates-rooms/#
I see a Standard, Deluxe or Premium option. I reserved the Premium because I wanted the same thing you do - a view of the parks, DTD and a chance to see DL fireworks from the bedroom.

I called the DLH directly before arrival and I was told the Premium option did not guarantee any of that. To enhance my chances I was told to check in as early as 8AM. We ended up arriving at 11AM or so and were able to get everything I wanted and on the 8th floor - I believe the highest floor not on concierge.

Hope that helps!

Ugh! I keep forgetting to wish you a fun trip!! Good luck with your room request. pixiedust:

We have done the DLH resort/pool view the last 5 years. We have always been in either the Fantasy Tower facing the pool (our favorite) or the Frontier Tower facing the pool. When we have been near the end of the building which is closest to downtown disney we have been able to see DL/DTD from the room. The view you are paying for is a room on one of the lower levels, so the view that direction is not that great, but the pool views can be really nice. We were told one year that we would be able to see the DL fireworks, but that definitely involved pressing your face up to the window and looking out at an angle. This year we were upgraded to a higher level room in the Frontier closer to the DTD end and we had a great view of DTD/DL as well as the DLH pool area. We could have seen the fireworks from our room, but we are never in our room when the fireworks happen- we are always in one of the parks!

Hi! Pretty good (apart from work), how are you doing, it's ages since we met up at Anaheim?

I see the same options as you now - but that's not what was offered when I booked (via the US Disneyland booking site). I definitely booked Resort/Pool, and I could still see that description on the site until today... I wonder if they've changed something?

Andre
