"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Love the update! That's great that EE still had such a short wait time!

Wow, it looks like it could start pouring any second! Sis and I rode EE in the rain a few years ago and the rain hurt!

I love the 498 reference. I remember reading about it in the "Hidden Secrets" book and forgot to look for it when we were there!!

Oh geez, that must've been fun riding EE in the rain. Right at the end there were a few little sprinkles but that was it.

I think it's so cool they put all those references in the parks. :thumbsup2

Catching up on the last 2 installments!

Awww, what a nice bus driver letting the kids take a pic at the front of the bus! Love those things that aren't planned.

Haha, that height sign for EE is so cute! I love how they make everything interesting! I mean, why not throw in some theming for something that's usually mundane!

The Komodo dragon scares me because of the 2nd Kingdom Keepers book too! When it was chasing one of the girls about to go in that room that looked like a tree stump? Scary! Haha, at least I think it was a komodo dragon.

The tigers will remind me of KK too! I want to see where the trap door is or where it's supposed to be.

That bus driver was awesome. I'd love to come across him again. I didn't want that bus ride to end. haha

LOL, yeah, some of the stuff in the KK book is CRAZY! Like the part in Dinosaur...YIKES! :scared1: When I was reading the tiger part I kept wondering if that is real. Maybe I should look for it...

Great pictures on EE!!:thumbsup2 I still haven't been brave enough to take my camera out while going up the hill.:scared1: Great job getting those shots!!:goodvibes Glad you were able to ride Dinosaur! I love that ride! I know what you mean about seeing the bats at AK. I always think of Kingdom Keepers II when I see them!

haha yeah, you can sort of see in the ride picture me with my hands in my lap because I was clutching onto my camera. Atleast it has a strap too that I had wrapped around my wrist. I love Dinosaur too even though it freaks me out!

Great update and pictures Sarah! LOVE the ones on Everest, I always think to take pics but we usually leave our bags with my parents so the camera is in the bag and not with us! That bluebird was really pretty! Cool thing about it taking the sticks up to the female, glad she accepted it!! Good thing you made it on Dinosaur, I didn't have any luck getting on it this trip!

Thanks Beth. :) I was glad I got those pictures but they might be cooler if the sun was out. Oh well.

Love the pics you took on Everest, they came out really good! Last time I rode EE I was finally brave enough to whip my camera out and take pics while going up but I forgot to zoom in. I am going to try harder next time!

What's Kingdom Keepers? It sounds interesting!

Kingdom Keepers is a series of fiction books about these five kids who have to protect the parks from villains! They are fun and easy to read since they're written for kids. Right now there are three different ones.

love those pics you got from riding EE! Great pics! That Komodo Dragon gave me the chills but you did get an awesome pic of it! LOL! Can't wait for more!

LOL, thanks. Glad you liked the pictures.

love this thread

Thanks!! :)

I love the Everest pictures! The view from up there is AWESOME.

And how fun that you wound up with a Wisconsin car! I've OH-IOed with quite a few Buckeye fans during my trips. And then there was the time a HS marching band marched through the World Showcase playing Hang on Sloopy...Good times.

It really is a cool view. You can see so much!

OK, totally random question...you watch Glee, right? So you know in the very first episode when they are watching Vocal Adrenaline? Is that the Ohio State alma mater or something that they sing right at the beginning when they're like O-HI-O, O-HI-O, O-HI-I-O? Just curious. LOL! Also random but when we went to the Rose Bowl a couple years ago and went to Disneyland we saw the Michigan band there. That was sweet. :thumbsup2

We always laugh at how some people scurry for their ponchos when the first drop of rain falls. When it's hot and humid out the plastic makes me a lot more uncomfortable than the raindrops.

I completely agree! We never use ponchos! They just look so hot and uncomfortable in the summer heat!

It's not. I guess they just made it up or something. Our alma mater does end with an O-HI-O though, so maybe they were trying to do something similar to it without exactly using our alma mater. :confused3

HOWEVER () Finn did have a framed photo of Ohio Stadium hanging in his bedroom. You can see it in the scene where he tells his mom that Quinn's pregnant. It was funny because the scene was supposed to be emotional, but my friends and I were freaking out over the poster. Not that Finn singing to the sonogram wasn't adorable. Because it was. But this Ohio State student has priorities! :rotfl:

And that's awesome that you saw the Michigan band at Disneyland. I love marching bands!

Yeah, and when it's that hot the rain almost feels refreshing.

Ahh, OK. It just sounded kind of like an alma mater type song. Thanks for clearing that up though.

I think I remember seeing that Ohio Stadium picture. That is funny you guys were freaking out when you saw it.

I agree, marching band are awesome. Even though I don't like OSU it is pretty cool how their band does that script Ohio.

Very impressed with the pictures from the top of Everest. How cool. Glad to hear that you didn't end up getting too much rain. I thought it was going to be a repeat of what happened when I was on Everest last- get off the ride and then the downpour starts! Sounds like you stayed pretty dry though.

Thanks! Like I said I just love the view you get going up and then at the top. :thumbsup2 So glad the rain stayed away. It looked kind of miserable but later in the day the sun was shining!

Love you pictures from Everest!

This year I took my video camera on Everest...strapped very very very tightly to my hand!

I'll have to try some still shots next time!

Friday, April 9, 2010 cont'd (part 3)

Sorry this is kind of a boring update...I want to save all the tour stuff for one post!

After our trek through the jungle we spent some time walking along the trails around the Tree of Life admiring all the carvings and of course, more animals. One creature we spotted was a porcupine…I liked the little signs they have in front of all the animals. They are cute little poems. If you can’t read it, this is what it says:

We sleep by day and come out at night,
Looking for food but never a fight!
We feed on roots and tubers and fruit,
Keeping our guard up with a prickled suit.
When predators come and test our wills,
We stamp our feet and rattle our quills.
We prefer not to get all out of joint,
But if we’re threatened, they WILL get the point!

I love how they share information about the animals in a fun way. Very clever. :)

And the porcupines…kind of a bad picture since they was hiding under a rock.

Since we were right around the Tree of Life we stopped in to see It’s Tough to be a Bug. It’s always fun hearing people’s reactions to that show.

As we headed toward Camp Minnie Mickey, I noticed that Lilo and Stitch were out greeting guests so we hopped in line to meet them. Lilo was very excited to see that I was wearing a red shirt…she kept pointing to it and then to her dress. Hehe

One of the Festival of the Lion King shows was going on when we got into Camp Minnie Mickey so it was a great time to meet some more characters. The lines were virtually nonexistent. Even one of the CMs said that it’s the best time to meet the characters since everyone’s in the show. First we met Donald!

And then we got to see Mickey Mouse! Aww, love him! The line was a little bit longer for him but it was fun watching all the little kids and their families in front of us. So cute.

I think we were going to try to see Minnie or Goofy next but they were going in for a break and plus FOTLK was letting out. So instead we decided to go grab some lunch at Pizzafari. Mmm, love that place. I took a couple of pictures of the walls because I had read in my Hidden Magic book and the Animal Kingdom Imagineering Field Guide how each of the rooms had a different theme. Can anybody guess what it is?

CAMOUFLAGE!!! Notice how all the animals are pretty much the same color of the background? Another one of those details that most people probably just overlook.

After enjoying our pizza we browsed some of the shops before going to check in for the Backstage Safari Tour!

Love you pictures from Everest!

This year I took my video camera on Everest...strapped very very very tightly to my hand!

I'll have to try some still shots next time!

Thanks! Ooh, I bet a video would be cool. I know I'd be holding on really tight too. LOL.

I've never "met" Lilo and Stitch before... I've seen them around the park a lot, but their line is always so long! I'm hoping next trip I'll find them with a short line

The Porcupine poem is so cute! Oh, Disney, you always find a way to make education entertaining!! :rotfl:

I've never gotten pictures with the characters in their Safari gear, but I think I'll make a point to do it this year. I love Mickey's boots!

Aww I love the characters in their safari outfits :cutie: I always have to get my picture taken with them if the lines aren't too long because they just look so cute!

I got to meet Lilo & Stitch last year for the first time. The line ended up being longer than it looked; I think my sis and I waited for half an hour or something. They were really fun, I'm glad to have a picture with them. Needless to say, my sis had it with meeting characters after that for the rest of the trip! :rotfl:

I didnt get to post after your last update but I love the pictures from the top of Everest! I love how you can see CSR and so much more from the top :thumbsup2

Yummm Pizzafari! Very delish!

I'm very excited to hear about your tour! Ever since we did the KTTK tour we're definitely interested in doing a few other ones as well.

Porcupines are the cutest!

I love the camouflage rooms! I never would have noticed that on my own, though I'm sure Weird would have. I kind of don't want to say anything to him and see if he notices on his own when we eventually get to AK.

A couple of updates to catch up on here. Love EE!!! If you think you can see so much going up the hill on EE, you should try taking pictures from the top of Summitt Plummet in Blizzard Beach. You can see everything in WDW from that spot. It's kinda scary but exhilerating at the same time.

So cool for you to be in a Wisconsin car on Dinosaur. That last dino gets me every time as well. LOL...

Cute pics of you with the charcters.

Glad you got to see some characters. Hope that the tour goes well. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your tour Sarah!!! Great tip too about visiting the character in Camp Minnie-Mickey, what a great time to see those characters!! Great pics!! I will have to read through the Hidden Magic book before our next trip, I love all the little additions you add to your report about all the fun details in the parks!!!!:thumbsup2

haha, I know, isn't that so cute? It can't be that easy either so props to them for being so creative. Yay Disney!

Ugh, that stinks you ended up waiting longer than expected but cool you got your pic with them!

I know, I thought that was so cool to see SSE and CSR.

Gotta love Pizzafari. Mmm, I could go for some right now.

I hope to get the tour update up by tomorrow! I am very excited to share what we got to experience.

I don't think I would have either if it weren't for those books!

haha, I don't know if I'd ever have the guts to go on Summit Plummet. :scared1: But I bet it is quite the view.

I don't know what it is about that last one that just scares the heck out of me.:eek:

Glad you got to see some characters. Hope that the tour goes well. :thumbsup2

The tour was amazing...can't wait to write about it. :thumbsup2

Definitely read the Hidden Magic book. It is so entertaining and interesting at the same time.

Ok, I've seen a ton of these pictures, and I had no clue, "bats" were hanging with the flags, until I went to the AK.

Watcha doin for the summer, besides Disney in August.

Hey Sarah,
I just found your tr and got caught up on it. You do a really great job talking about everything and I love all the pictures. My family and I are going again in July and reading your tr is getting more and more excited for it. I'm subbing and I can't wait to hear more about your trip especially the tour. BTW who wrote that hidden magic book you have talked about? It sounds like a really interesting book and I would love to read it before my trip.
