"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

After reading the first part about the tour, I immediately looked up the prices because it definitely sounds like something Weird would absolutely LOVE. It'll probably be the second tour we do (first being Keys to the Kingdom), which means we probably won't get to do it until years later.

Loved all the facts and tidbits that you shared. I thought the elephant hair being similar to wire was really interesting! Haha, and the gel medication thing due to animals picking out medicine is funny. So much smarter than some of us may realize!

Obviously, these tours are not cheap, though we were able to get something like a 20% discount with our Disney VISA cards. I don't like to tell other people what's "worth the money" because that's a matter of personal taste. But, I am really glad that Sarah and I did it because I knew that she would enjoy it (as did I). I would rather spend my money on the tour than on a sit down dinner because it was more memorable and will enhance our enjoyment of our future visits to DAK. (I always call it that now because that's how the cast members refer to it.)

I'm sure there are a lot of people who wouldn't think the tour is worth the price, but then they'll go buy a couple of cocktails with their dinner (something that I don't think is worth the price).

I love hearing about the Backstage tour... all those fun facts and interesting things to know. Laughed out loud at the bowl and the pit of heat comment! :rotfl2:

I know it's not "close" but they seem to have done a few dis meets in Woodfield mall and around that area in Schaumburg, IL. I'm not quite sure where you all are, but for me it only takes an hour or so to get there.

I know they used to center around the Doorway to Dreams store in the mall and have branched out to ball games and such. I've seen them discussed on the podcast board.

The tour you went on sounds awesome! I may have to try that the next time I'm there...who knows when that will be! :D

I've heard about the Doorway to Dreams place...didn't know they did meets but that would be fun.

The tour was amazing. We both had such a good time, as did the other father and daughter. :thumbsup2

Great character pictures!!:goodvibes Oh and the Backstage Safari Tour sounds so interesting! I would love to try it sometime!! Can't wait to hear more...popcorn::

If you get the chance I say do the tour! After taking so many trips it's fun doing something different for a change.

Hi Sarah. As always when I'm new to a report, I write all my comments on a sticky note then cut and paste. So here goes:

I'm going to school to become a teacher. Right now, I'm working towards my associate’s degree in interdisplinary studies. I'm currently live in the same state as you. I do remember a few warm days in Wisconsin but not enough. (I was born and raised in Fl) It's so weird that I finally find a DISser who lives in my state when I am about to leave. What are the odds? Yay, for Chick-Fil-A being the arrival meal. It is my favorite fast food restaurant. Yup, there is a bowling pin pool in the 50's. I can’t recall if I've ever done the Astro Orbiter. Funny story about the skipper from Jungle Cruise. I think it makes it better when the skipper is animated and corny and not boring. The boy in the red hat had me cracking up. I have a confession. I like HSM too, I own all 3 movies. Has your sister decided if she was going to do the college program yet? The Disney episode of Full House was my favorite. (I Also the Family Matters Disney episode) RnRC is my all time favorite ride at HS. I don’t ride ToT alone and no one ever wants to ride with me. Do you know I lived here for 2 years and a month and I have not been to the zoo? Sad isn’t it. Very cool about the backstage safari tour. What a special treat, can’t wait to hear more about it. Very cool about an August trip. Now I'm headed over to your PTR, hopefully I'm not too far behind over there.

Hey there! Thanks for joining in!

Cool to see another Wisconsin DISer even if you are moving back to FL. My cousin is kind of the opposite, she just finished her PI and is probably going to end up coming back home even though she really wants to stay down there.

Chick-Fil-A is awesome! There used to be one at a mall around here...sadly both the restaurant AND mall are gone now! That's why whenever we see it we have to go eat there. haha

I am almost positive my sister is going to apply for the CP for next spring. She just needs to wait for the application to come out which will hopefully be in the next couple months. Hopefully she'll get accepted. I know she really wants to do it.

haha, we own all 3 HSM movies too. Who cares if they are cheesy...they are awesome.

We actually just watched the WDW Full House episodes the other night since I own all the DVDs. It's cool because the DVD has scenes they don't show on TV!

Bummer about not getting to the zoo...it really is a nice place. Maybe someday you'll make it there. :)

I love hearing about the tour. I still wonder how they get all the animals inside when the weather is bad, etc.

Hmm, I wonder too...I don't think they mentioned that.

Can't wait to hear more about the tour! popcorn::

Hopefully I can get another update done over the weekend but I've got to get planning done for summer school since it starts Monday!!!

I think KTTK is definitely next on our list. I know I said this in my PTR but we thought about doing that one in April...we figured my sisters might want to do it too so the Backstage Safari one was a better option. They had NO interest in it whatsoever.

Glad you are enjoying hearing about the tour. I hope I am not giving away too many spoilers!

Hi everyone!

Guess what we saw today? Yes, that is right, Toy Story 3!! Ahh, it was so fun seeing all the little kids waiting in line because it sort of reminded me of when I was younger and saw the original Toy Story. Can't believe that was 15 years ago and I was 10 years old! LOL. There was even one little boy in Buzz Lightyear pajamas and had his Woody stuffed animal. So cute!

Anyways, I won't give away too much about the movie since I'm sure a lot of you are going to see it but we all LOVED it. Pixar did it again...a lot of laughs but also some really sweet moments. It was kind of a bummer that some of Andy's original toys didn't make it :sad1: but there are some great additions with the new characters. The ending was adorable and also kind of sad. Some of the best parts were the Barbie/Ken interactions. :rotfl2: I also liked how they incorporated some of the lines from the first two movies into this one. It was definitely a crowd pleaser because when it was over a lot of people applauded. I think Toy Story is a true Disney classic. So fun seeing the younger kids singing along to "You've Got A Friend in Me" and saying "There's a snake in my boot!" Awww. But honestly it appeals to all ages.

Oh, and perhaps the best part was when we were leaving we saw this group of teenagers in the lobby dressed as some of the characters. Hilarious! :rotfl:

So, anybody else see it yet? What did you think?

I have to go back and catch up on some of your recent posts, I am behind again. I had to read about Toy Story 3. I am going to go on Sunday with my family, no kids:laughing:, I can not wait. We all went to see the 3D 1 and 2 release together, what fun that was. Yes, I will never grow up.:lmao: Glad you enjoyed the movie. Did you see it in the 3D or regular version?

Oh yes, we went to see Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D too...that was great. This one we just saw the regular version though. It was just as good. Have fun when you see it. It does not disappoint!

Yes! We saw it tonite in :3dglasses and loved it. The audience was just humming with anticipation when it started up and broke into applause when it was done. I laughed, I cried.... so GOOD!

I like this perspective! We too would rather do a tour than a fancy dinner. Weird and I keep things to a minimum, and the only splurge that we really have in our lives is sushi (and even then, we've cut back drastically). We very rarely order even soda because we don't see the worth. I know the tour, on the other hand, will be worth the money.

And yay! I didn't remember the discount for Disney VISA! Weird has one, so that'll definitely be handy!

Excited to see Toy Story 3! It won't be for another 2 weeks because Weird has overtime next Saturday. I'm okay with that though because maybe by then it won't be AS crowded at the theater.

Yesterday at a kids' store, I saw the tshirts that have the Woody costume on the front so that it'll look like your kid is Woody. I've seen them at the Disney store too. Why don't they make tshirts like that in our size?!

I'm so excitied to see it! We're seeing it on Tuesday... it seems so far away lol
I'm glad you really liked it, I'm hoping it's as awesome as everyone says. It probably is, I think pretty much all of TS3 reviews are positive- that's definatly something!

haha, me too. Great movie. Glad you guys enjoyed it too!

You sound like us. We've just never been ones to do fancy dinners where it's $100 a person or splurge on super expensive things. Like Dad said, it's just a matter of taste.

Oh, you guys will love the movie! The theater we went to had I think 3 screens showing it so while there were quite a few people in our theater it wasn't full.

LOL, those shirts sound hilarious.

It'll be worth the wait, trust me. :thumbsup2 I've been sort of reading what other people thought about it on here and it does seem like almost everyone really liked it.

Hey Sarah! First off, the Backstage Safari Tour sounded awesome! Cool it was two father and daughter groups!! I would love to take a tour like this someday, lots of cool info!!! Second, we saw Toy Story 3 last night too and we LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!! It was great!!! So fun seeing it and the story was awesome!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Oh, you guys will love the movie! The theater we went to had I think 3 screens showing it so while there were quite a few people in our theater it wasn't full.

We went to a show that started at 5:15, which is probably a relatively offbeat time because it kind of covers the dinner hour. Based on the crowd at that show I'm guessing that the crowds are going to be pretty big this weekend.

I thought the movie was excellent overall, but the ending (that everyone is talking about) made it especially memorable. The generally good reviews combined with word of mouth is going to make this a BIG hit.

The backstage tour sounds awesome, Sarah! Oh, and I really like that red WDW shirt you're wearing in the Lilo picture! It seems as if I may have a few of those here in my own house! ;)

Glad you enjoyed TS 3. I'm hoping for all of us (three kids, DH, and me) to get to see it this week one evening.

I think there's one mall that still has one. I went to it in April. It was far though. I didn't know the DVD had extra scenes. I may have to scoop it up. Yup, maybe one summer when I come back to do Summerfest or the State Fair (I'm gonna miss the cream puffs) I'll check out the zoo.

I haven't seen TS3 yet. I wanna see it with my boyfriend but my family is waiting on me to see it.

Toy Story 3 sounds so good. I can't wait to see it tomorrow. I was six when the first on came out and that was the year my little brother was born so we both grew up loving it. I have heard nothing but good things about it. I think some of the new characters look great like Trixie.

we saw toy story yesterday also!!! i LOVED it!!! pixar did do it again!! i'm not going to lie i teared up at the end!! even adrina was "sad" at some parts... totally worth paying the monies to see it in the theater! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Ahh Toy Story 3 sounds SO GOOD! I am dying to see it. Hopefully I can go on Monday!

I was kind of surprised there were only two other people in the group but it made it nice and we really got to interact more with the tour guide. Glad you guys loved TS3 too. I don't think I have seen one review where people didn't enjoy it.

It will be interesting to see how much $$$$ it makes this weekend.

The ending was kind of sad. :sad1:

haha, same here. :rotfl: I told my sisters we should all wear ours the same day when we go in August...I don't know if they'll go for it but it would make for a cute picture! :)

I hope you get to see TS soon. It is great. :thumbsup2

Ohhh really? I might have to look it up.

Yeah, there are just a few scenes inserted that they must've cut from the episodes...like there is something with the Aladdin parade.

MMMMM cream puffs are so good!

I thought the new characters were cool. Got a kick out of Mr. Pricklepants. haha! I was a little surprised by Lotso though.

haha, so many people have said they cried/teared up during parts. I must confess to that too...:rolleyes1 But it was amazing.

Ahh Toy Story 3 sounds SO GOOD! I am dying to see it. Hopefully I can go on Monday!

I'm going to start sounding like a broken record but it was such a fun movie. You will love love LOVE it.

We LOVED TS3!!! I just posted about our experience :goodvibes SO funny about the teenagers dressed as the characters---cute!! I am happy you guys loved it too. I think it is my favorite!
