I just booked a decent rate with Thrifty but was wondering how difficult it is to use the shuttle to and from the car rental agency. Have alway used a car rental that was located in the airport before. Any positive or negatve experiences with this company? I booked for Dec 26 to Jan 2.....holiday week( groan)!

Thanks

I've used them once in the past and I'd use them again if they had the best rate. They are less than four miles from MCO. I had a two minute wait for the shuttle and 10 - 15 minute ride with one stop to their lot. The service and car were both good

I strongly recommend joining their Blue Chip Program. You can join online and it's free. It's an express check-in with a special line. Your paper work is pretty much complete and waiting for you at the counter. When we went there were no lines even at the regular counter but we were not there at a holiday period as you are going to be. I've read post about hour plus waits at some of the counters of various companys...Blue Chip will save you time.

I used them on our last trip and am booked with them for the upcoming trip. The offsite location really is not that far away and the shuttle took us right back where we needed to be. My rental this year is 12/25/06 to 1/1/07 and when I reserved back in February they had the best rate, $240 for a mini van, since then they have sky rocketed.

We prefer the sites that are right at the airport, but we've rented with Thrifty when their prices are a lot better, and we've always been pleased. We have them booked for March.

I rent cars weekly for business. I have used thrifty and will never use them again. Long story short, They attempted to charge me for damages that were already present on the car. I did not end up having to pay but it was a hassle. If you would like more specific details, PM me.

I rent through Budget, Hertz, Avis & National. A lot of airport have off site car rental. You take a short shuttle bus. The shuttle buses usually run every 5 or 10 minutes and are quick. Never had a problem with buses.

I have a good rate through Thrifty for Jan. 29 - Feb 8th and I signed up for Blue Chip so I could bypass the line but I'm wondering if I book it now, they have my credit card info with the Blue Chip program. Can I still cancel if I find a better rate somewhere else ? I don't see any info about when they bill your card or cancellation policy etc... Anyone help ? I'd like to book today.

I got my answer through the online chat at the thrifty website. Very useful and quick !

I can cancel at anytime. Oh and the rental office is open 24 hours. And I can add a second driver later during the rental as long as he/she shows up before driving the vehicle to sign and show driver's license.

I used to like Thrifty and have rented from them many times in the past with no problems, however last week we were stuck at the airport waiting for a shuttle over to the rental location for over an hour waiting for the bus to pick us up. It was very frustrating. I may use a different rental company next time.

We've used Thrifty in the past and wern't real pleased with them. The car had high miles, dirty and the agents wouldn't take no for an answer on the insurance. Obviously, there are bad apples in every company, but we wern't real impressed. I usually stick with Budget, Avis or Hertz as they've always worked out great for us....

This happened with my Mom, but not with Thrifty. That's why I always have them go inspect the car with me. We note any dings, dents, scratches on the contract before I sign anything. If they claim they are too busy, I note it on the contract they refused prior inspection with me.
