So what do you think of the new Playhouse Disney character meal?

What do you think of the new Playhouse Disney Character Meal?

  • No way you'll ever catch me there!

  • Willing to try it out, but it wasn't my first choice.

  • Disney, what about the BOYS???!!!

I have a six 1/2 year old boy. He might have gone to the breakfast if other characters were there. I vote for Bear and Rolie Poile Olie-I know they aren't on as much as JoJo and Little Einsteins. Heck, I would go if Bear were there-love that Bear.

I agree with the other folks who wish Disney would have a character breakfast geared toward boys. Infact know a few girls who would loveb reakfast with Woody and Buzz, Incredibles, etc.

THANKS, Disney! You just saved me a wad of money! :rotfl: With 4 adults and an almost-10-year-old there is no way we will be attending this meal! Of course H&V for dinner is one of DH's "must do" places, but now I won't have to worry about scheduling a breakfast there, too!

We would have gone to a Toy Story meal. We even would have gone to a meal with a hodge podge of other characters. But not Power Rangers. I hate Power Rangers. Anyway, no preschool meals for us!

I do love Bear in the Big Blue House, but Bear is a Muppet. I don't know if there would be a way to turn him into a costumed character or not. And what I love about Bear is his voice and the inflection he uses and his mannerisms. It would be tough to get all that right, and I wouldn't want to see him if it wasn't exactly like the Bear on TV!

Not happy here either. All this did for us was cinch that the day we would have spent at MGM will now be spent at Universal and doing the Spiderman breakfast. The boys will have thrill rides there so they won't miss ToT and RnR. The only thing they will miss is the stunt show and we've seen that once already. Given the choice, they'd rather dine with Spiderman and get to meet Scooby and Shaggy at Universal than spend the day at MGM. My guess is that with Universal making my sons feel special with that meal, our future trips will be split between Universal and Disney rather than ALL Disney.

Disney's decision to go with Playhouse Disney saved us money too!!

Bear was in the Playhouse Disney live show and if I remember correctly, he was a lot like the Bear on TV (and not a muppet). Bear, Stanley and Rolie Polie Olie would be a great addition to the breakfast and might increase the ages wanting to attend the meal. I know my son is 7 1/2 and still enjoys watching Stanley. At least they're not adding the Doodlebops or whatever they're called!!! :scared:

Does anyone one know if there will be a soft opening before June, and if so when that might be?

Disney have now really messed up imho. My DD4 isnt interested in "baby" things, she wanted a Villians theme first, then Buzz, power rangers, or star wars.
Friends were going to Orlando this year IF there was a boys theme, but as there isnt they have decided to stay in a Beaches resort with their 2 boys in the caribean. Disney you have missed out on alot of $s, this meal will attract the under 3s, that dont pay for the meal ! ( I know their parents do ) however a meal aimed at older kids, mainly boys wouold have kept everyone happy and given you more money! Pre schoolers have CP and Chef Mickeys.

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED!

PS DD 4 has choose to eat with Spiderman one day, the Scooby Doo another, both at Universal hotels. ( we are eating at Chef mickeys, CP and 1900 Park Fayre too )

I agree with so many of you. Where is the meal for boys? I just don't get it. I totally understand if they don't want to forge partnerships outside of Disney for these meals or whatever but how about Lion King, Jungle Book, Tarzan, etc??? There are plenty of male charachters or villans or something to give our little guys something to enjoy as well. Believe me, nothing against the princesses here. I have princess envy as I am not allowed to make ADR's for the castle LOL. I would just like something like that for my DS to get excited about. Thanks for everyone who called for the rest of us. I certainly appreciated all your efforts!

I wondered how they handled Bear in the live show. The lines were always just insane so we've never been to that one. If there was no line I might have been able to convince DS & DH to see it, but I wasn't willing to wait in a line wrapped round the building! ;)

I read somewhere (MousePlanet, maybe?) that the Doodle Bops will be at WDW live in August, as well as the Wiggles and one other act I can't think of. Our trip will be finished before those shows arrive, and we wouldn't have gone to see them anyway. I think the Doodle Bops are creepy! Imagine one of those coming up to you as you are eating! :bitelip:

My DS is 9 1/2 and I don't think he has ever seen a whole episode of Stanley. He must be afraid he will learn something if he watches!

Hands up all those who would go to a Star Wars character meal, featuring, say, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Darth Vader?? Sure fire winner? I think so, and if I could think of it why couldn't Disney? :confused3 :rolleyes1

This playhouse disney set up is just in the meantime, they havent worked things out with Pixar yet. I have hope, they will!!!

As been mentioned Bear is in the Playhouse Disney show and his voice is prerecorded.

Back in 2000 when my DS was about 1 1/2 or so we met Bear at the then Disney Store on 5th and 55th in Manhattan. I waited in line for two hours and was 2nd in line. We went up to Bear and I said, "Hi Bear this Elliot" and Bear said in the Bear voice, "Hi Elliot!" I was so over the moon happy I was more excited than Elliot. We've also seen "the real Bear" two times for Halloween-related things at the Bronx Zoo in NY. I agree, it is hard to beat the real Bear. That show is really my fave. I love the music and the characters. It makes me so sad my son is getting older. Oh well, I will always have Bear.

Once we caught a faux Bear at a character meet and greet at Disney-MGM. I was happy but of course he could not talk!

Anyway, most of the characters in general at the breakfasts or meet and greets in the parks do not talk (except for the face characters). I think it is just the idea of meeting them.

Also, why not add Stanley? He already appears at Raffiki's (spelling is worng) Planet Watch at the Animal Kingdom.

As for the Star Wars breakfast-another big yes here. (btw, DS is presently sitting next to me dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi...) :rotfl2:

I think disney really dropped the ball on this one. :sad1: I think there was a lot of potential to appeal to wide range of people, i.e many of the Pixar films. My ds10 is really bummed. He was hoping there would be a new Toy Story, Incredibles, Monsters, anything besides Playhouse Disney. Oh well, back to Chef Mickey's in October. :)

Rachel :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I am personally very happy with this. Will my 13yo son like.. No... but will he tolerate it for my youger ones? Yep. My 6yo was even happy when I told her about it.

I do agree a Toy Story themed one would be a good idea.. but its not like this is a "girl" themed meal. It is just more for the younger crowd.

With SO many characters, you would think Disney could've come up with something MUCH better!! Even when my kids and my niece were younger they didn't really dig LE or JJC.

What about Peter Pan, Nemo, Power Rangers, Monster's, Inc, and the list could go on and on! Who decides this stuff.....What about the boys?!!!!!!?!?!

I agree......what about the boys????? i have 3 and even my 5yr old would
prefer toy story, incredibles, monsters, power rangers, etc. to playhouse
disney.

Oh well I guess my Buzz dreams are crushed. My ds 5 has no interest in these characters. He would have when we went was he was two. Really how many people with kids 5 and older are going to this. They lost my $
:guilty:

We are very excited to take our kids to a new character meal. Our kids love JoJo and Goliath so we know the will really enjoy it.

It's a no way for us. As a mother of two very experienced character meal going children, at 6 & 7, they have no interest in these characters.
