My boys were ready for a Toy Story meal. They think Playhouse Disney is for babies. Since there isn't a Disney character meal they are interested in, we booked the Spiderman Breakfast at IOA.

Your boys will love this breakfast! We did the breakfast last year and it was so nice! Food was decent and the characters were great!

If there is a chance that it might change to a Pixar meal maybe I should make an ADR for my August Trip. :confused3

I have a six 1/2 year old boy. He might have gone to the breakfast if other characters were there. I vote for Bear and Rolie Poile Olie-I know they aren't on as much as JoJo and Little Einsteins. Heck, I would go if Bear were there-love that Bear.

I agree with the other folks who wish Disney would have a character breakfast geared toward boys. Infact know a few girls who would loveb reakfast with Woody and Buzz, Incredibles, etc.

I agree. Gabe likes Rollie Polie and Bear but I don't think he would give a rip about Jojo (he *might* like it, but not enough to pay that kind of money) and he wouldn't have a clue who those other characters are.

We would have forked out for Toy Story or Incredibles or Monsters Inc...I guess that'll be one less TS meal I have to plan for. I think they have made a big error in judgment on this one. They must have lots of marketing research, I guess, but I don't see it going over too well.

Let's see how long it lasts... :badpc:

I think Disney hit the mark with this one....MGM is not geared towards a young crowd and this gives that age group something to do....my 5 and 2 don't watch toon disney they watch the reg Disney channel and these two shows are huge hits! My 2 year old doesn't watch Mickey...she recognizes him but she won't go near him in the parks....she loves JO JO and Little Einsteins. Even my older son 7 is happier about this than going to 1900 Park Fare...this he can tolerate.

I agree they need to fix the boy pirate:issue...but I don't think this was a bad move! :cool1:

Hmmm...........got me thinking also. Thanks for putting this idea into my head.

Well - Have fun if you have a pre-schooler :goodvibes

BUT ... :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

For families with children 6 and up (maybe even 5 and up) - what was Disney thinking ? :lmao:

First of all - all pre-school rides are in MK - not MGM Studio's ;)
From my list below - 9 rides not for pre-schoolers and ONLY 3 ride for pre-schoolers.

BRING BACK THE VILLIANS meal (used to be at GF) :darth: :maleficen :hmghost:

Why would a toddler go on ....... ?
1) Star Tours
2) Tower of Terror
3) Rock'n'Roller Coaster
4) Back Lot Tour
5) Sit still for Who Wants to be a Millionaire
6) Maybe be frightened during Lights, Camera, Action
7) and also fightened at Indiana Jones show
8) Sounds Dangerous is a dark ride - no preschoolers would like the noises
9) Muppet Vision 3-D has loud noises and 3-D affects which could scare a pre-schooler

Which only leaves for pre-schoolers..
1) Voyage of the Little Mermaid (even pre-school boys may hate it)
2) Playhouse Disney Live - but they would have already seen the characters at the H& V meal
3) Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure - just a big playground - you pay all that $$$$ and let your kids play in a playground, what a waste of time :rotfl:

Let the pre-schoolers go to MK and leave MGM STUDIO's for the school aged families (no offense - but I hate pushy strollers -when our kids were young we used the backpack style to carry our kids)

I have a 2 yr. old DS and 6 yr. old DD, Haven't decided if we are going to eat here or at 50's Prime time yet. I'm only going to MGM 1 day. DS loves Jojo & little Einsteins but don't know if DD would like it. I'll have to see how the food is at this buffet to make my decision.

LOL so now what?? Do you now ban kids under 5 from MGM? :rotfl2: What may not work for your children may work well with others. I have kids that are very spaced out in age (besides my last 2). Am I sapposed to send my 13yo to MGM and stay in MK with my younger ones?

From what I understand this Meal did not replace a "boys" one... it seems like there were problems setting it up. Right now I do not have a child who would be interested in seeing Buzz. So this is what works for me.

I am thrilled with this meal as my 2yo daughter LOVES JoJo and Little Einsteins. And I have to disagree about keepin the preschoolers in MK because their parents still want to go to MGM so that means they have to come along. And every time we've taken my daughter there she has loved the Muppets show, LMA Stunt show, and the backlot tour (though she's only done that once). So I think this will be a great addition-and I have a son on the way so I'd like a boys meal too, but I think this is great too!

Alot if European familes arent even aware of who these characters are , so I think its a bit of an odd choice from Disney, as it limits the appeal. just MHO!
I wish they would perhaps do this meal everyother day..... and SOMETHING for the older kids, especially boys! I do agree this pre school meal, doesnt seem to "fit" with the themeing of MGM very well.

Bet Universal are loving it though, both our friends booked Spiderman and Scooby meal yesterday, and Universal said they have been REALLY busy with calls from the UK in the last day or so. Bet it was alot of holiday makers waititng to see who was coming to H & V, then booking accordingly.

That was a rude remark about the strollers! There is no way I can backpack a 30 lb. 2 yr. old or 40 lb 5 yr. old at MGM. Speak for yourself next time. I'm not thrilled about this not being Toy story but we will probably book it for DS is 2 and he likes Jojo.

I too am LESS THAN THRILLED with this character meal and I have a 2 yo DD. They could have done much better with something else.

DD does like JoJO, but I have to think of my 8 yo DS too. He's already going to 1900 Park Fare for his sisters birthday. We'll stick with our 50's Primetime ADR for our MGM day.

I just don't quite understand Disney's reasoning behind a Playhouse Disney character meal. Just about every other character meal has a wide age range appeal (preschoolers all the way up to adults with no kids), but IMO, most kids will "age out" of the Playhouse meal by the time they are 6 (I really can't see ANY childless adults wanting to sit through JoJo and the Little Einsteins). It's hard to get into watching and knowing the Playhouse Disney shows and characters when you are at school when the shows are on.

I hope that the Playhouse character meal is just a temporary fix until the Pixar characters can be added.

I voted for the love it, I am looking forward to trying it. Oh, but Bear should be there, at least as a greater (IMO.)

However I agree, what about the boys? (I am a mother of girls, but still What about the boys? I think many of the "boy themes" girls would like too (I know my DD would like a Toy Story, Jungle book or Peter Pan dinner.)

If this meal was at any other park I would CONSIDER going ONLY because DH loves buffets and because we like to eat before the park opens. But at MGM there isn't anything I am in THAT much of a hurry to get to! I enjoy MGM, and so do the others in our group, but I'm not going to knock myself out over an 8 AM ADR if there isn't a good reason to do that! The last thing I want is to be first in line at RnRC after a huge breakfast! (I have a bad back, so RnRC is actually NEVER a good idea for me.) I also don't like to do ToT first thing in the morning. We'll go get FPs shortly after the park opens and be perfectly happy. :confused3

DS's favorite things are the GMR and the Disney animation thing where you draw a character. No need to stampede to get to those, so no need for an 8 AM ADR at a meal we didn't care to attend in the first place.

I have a 3 year old that loves Jojo so we will be there but I think Disney could do WAY better with a Toy Story meal. I also think this meal will only be for the Magical Beginnings and then they (hopefully) will change it to Toy Story like the original rumors. I think they would see ADR sell outs by 7:15 most mornings. I think it would rival the castle.
