Well somethings got to give with the investment market...
I am going to talk to the CFP tomorrow at the bank, hopefully move some money around to protect my money a bit..

It is getting way tooooo scary to open the investment and IRA statements... You know I don't mind it not growing so fast as it once did... but dang.. these negative numbers are really getting on my bad nerve...

Anybody got any ideas or willing to share what you are doing with your investment money... ???

I have a 401K at work and I recently moved everything into a safe fund. I'll just ride it out for awhile and see what happens. I agree, those minus' were really getting to me too.

To tell the truth I wish I had some money I could invest right now. With the numbers the way they are it's a good time to start getting into the market. Isn't it funny how in 1999 everybody wanted in when it was topping out. Now everyone wants out when it is bottoming out.

I'm doing nothing. I am putting the same amount in I have always put in... and take comfort that I am buying some stocks at a price that is CHEAP. The losses on my previous investments are just the price of riding the ups and downs of the market. I have along way to go before retirement... so I have some ups ahead of me too. :)

I'm doing nothing other than trying to ignore the statements.

I did stop contributing to one mutual fund that had no tax benefits but I've continued all the others. I haven't taken money out of anything except for a loan from one of our 401's we used to buy our house. We were going to put it right back in but the way things have worked out it's doing better for us to pay the interest in and put it back slowly with payments.

Four years ago we moved 60% of our investments into secure funds because of DH's retirement. Because of the move we have not been hit very badly.

We do have 20% in risk and it's killing me to see - on my statements. Sure hoping to start seeing some + + + soon.

Yup! I believe it's a good time to dollar cost average down in my core holdings....I'm not speculating in companies that I don't know much about. I have an endless time horizon...for which I'm blessed...but, I ask myself everytime I invest...do I believe that 20 years from now company "x" will be worth more than it is today. jmho. :)

We have take some hits but have a long time until retirement so we are pretty much riding it out. I do have one area that I know I will not recover it-I work for a now bankrupt telecom-I have been forunate to keep my job through 5 rounds of lay offs but 8 years of company match in 401k is gone.

I haven't touched any of my kids' stuff. But, it is scary. :( I hate losing. :(

Riding it out. I don't look at the statements either, too depressing. :)

All of my investments are long-term and I don't plan to touch them for another 10-20 years, no need to panic about the market now. I have faith that long-term I'll do just fine. :)

Thanks for all the responses. It seems we are in the same boat.. I hope we can all ride the big wave again someday soon!!
