So were you a present snooper as a kid?

So its that time of year, where all the mom's and dads are trying their hardest to hide the presents until Christmas..and every year, some kids still manage to find it...Snoopers will live through the ages..

So I have to ask, when you were a kid, and you stopped believing, did you become a snooper..?

I did..I regretted it every year, but I was..LOL..but my mother got smart on me after she knew I was doing it...she found a totally different spot, and left me a note telling me I had been busted snooping, and if I tried it again, I was getting nothing ever again..LOL..I stopped trying after that..:rotfl:

Anyone else a snooper, or do you have a snooper in your house?

Of course. My mother used to put the presents in the basement with a sheet over them. We did have some self-control though. My sister and I agreed that every year we would peek at one present each.

My parents would put the presents in the attic, which we did not have access to.

yes I was! Even when I did believe! I must have never found the "santa" gifts or else I didn't make the connection to it being from Santa and having already seen the prsent in the house!

one year when my parents were out I unwrapped my presents taht were already under the tree, peeked, then wrapped them back up. stupid me forgot the roll of tape from behind the tree. Got busted...

I was such a snooper! I became an ace at re-wrapping presents. Every year, I was waiting for the packages to get underneath the tree so I could snoop.

Now, in my old age, I'm much better at letting it go and waiting. But my fiance and his sister are HORRIBLE, even now, his parents still have to hide their gifts. I went to the extreme of having my fiance's gift shipped to her at work so she could hide it. He STILL managed to find it and figure it out.

Never. I love surprises and never wanted to ruin one--even as a kid. Luckily both of my kids are the same way.

I did it once as a child.. I found the "stash" - carefully unwrapped all of my gifts and then carefully re-wrapped them.. That was the most disappointing Christmas I ever had..:sad2: Never did it again and taught me a valuable lesson about how important the element of "surprise" is on Christmas morning..

My kids were never able to snoop - I was very, very creative with my hiding techniques - and no one (adults or DGD) can snoop here because my Dson-in-law keeps the gifts locked in the trunk of his classic Camaro.. No one has a key (expect him) and no one even looks crooked at that car without shuddering.. LOL..

The gifts that I have for the people here are kept in my locked craft room, so again, no one can "snoop".. (It's one of those old dead bolt type locks that can't be jimmied or popped like the ones on the bedrooms and such throughout the rest of the house..;)) Dson-in-law has a key (for emergencies) but he places a very, very high priority on my privacy and never goes in there without asking first - nor does he ever come in my bedroom without knocking and waiting for me to respond.. :goodvibes

No way! I hate when surprise is spoiled. Now, my sister on the other hand was always snooping. She got in trouble for it one year, and my mother gave the gift she unwrapped to someone else. I don't believe my sister ever snooped again after that.

I used to as a kid but I never would unwrap anything because I was horrible at wrapping so my mother would have known right away.

My sister was a snooper, but I never was. The only time I ever saw a gift prior to Christmas was when my mother had hidden an outfit in the linen closet for some reason, and I was in there to get clean sheets to make the bed. I never let her know I saw it.

Now finding things in July that Mom had hidden and never had found before Christmas, that is a different story!

Nope, my brother would a bit though. I had no desire to find out in advance what my gifts were.

On Christmas Eve every year my brother would hide a flashlight under his bed and wake up and go look at all the gifts and peek at the names on them. Then he would come and wake me up to do it with him. I remember doing it when I was so small I couldn't read and he would have to tell me who they were for, we did this for YEARS!! We still talk about it.

I've given my son permission to do the same with his little sister. :goodvibes

Me and my brother - total snoopers. We would find just a couple of gifts each year and then tease my mother about it. How bratty of us! But my parents always seemed to have surprises on Christmas morning, too. We all had fun with it. This is how it would all typically sound:

Sis and Bro: "We may or may not have found a video game featured in that movie we love starring Fred Savage..." (The Wizard ;))
Mom: "Oh you two, geez....how do you know that what you think you saw wasn't for one of your cousins? Or that I'm not going to give it away to charity?"
Sis and Bro: "You wouldn't do that to us...." all the while, we'd be thinking that she might give it to someone else...or return it. When we'd go back to check on it, it would be gone. And then we wouldn't really know...of course, every single year the gifts we snooped out ended up under the tree. But it was all a big game - brings back some great memories!

Nope - all my mother had to do was put the presents up on a shelf, just above my line of sight, and I'd never notice they were there! She told me about that recently, because I was telling her that that's all I have to do with MY kids. So apparently it runs in the genes.

None of us are snoopers.

Nope, not a snooper, but I was a shaker. I would have to check out the gifts under the tree and feel them and shake them ahead of time to see if I could guess.

Heck no! One, because I would never spoil a surprise, and two, because my mom didn't wrap gifts till after we went to bed Christmas Eve!

My mom always told us how one of her brothers would get up really early Christmas Day, open all his gifts, AND THEIRS, then rewrap them. Then he would come tell them what they got. They didn't want to know. :P

Oh heck yeah, I was (and still am!) a snooper! To the point where we didn't find out DS's gender before he was born because it was the only surprise where I absolutely could not snoop and ruin it! :rotfl:
