So the other day I was so excited about getting a free dinning PIN emailed to me! I called disney to make a reservation but they would not honor the offer because they sent the offer in my friends name:confused3 A couple of years ago I booked for a group of us and they associated my email with my friends reservation, but it is really my address. I tried to complain but nobody would help me... feeling a little sad about it all :headache:

That's weird. Tonight I called to book a trip and was able to book in my own name using my moms pin. I actually screwed up and booked the whole thing before realizing I left her off my reservation. They say they are non transferable but clearly they are as I discovered by mistake. I would call back.

I just called to check late June rates for a friend. All I asked for were any discounts available for her time frame and the CM said I could get a room discount or free dining. She said no codes were connected to the FD, and that it was a "general public" free dining offer. I was really shocked because I was one of those people calling numerous times a few weeks ago trying to get FD, which I did. She said if I call back to book, just ask for the FD offer. :confused3 In previous posts on this board, some felt like CMs were being disciplined for giving FD to anyone without the PIN #, but this makes me wonder. You'd think by now all the managers would have told the all the CMs that this wasn't allowed if it really wasn't supposed to be given freely. Just my opinion...:)

THERE ARE NO CURRENT GENERAL PUBLIC FREE DINING OFFERS FOR JUNE.

In fact, there are no current general public free dining offer out at all, for any time frame.

I'm just stating exactly what a CM offered me this morning when I asked for any discounts for the time frame I was checking.....Her words, not mine. :)

Believe me, every single agent on the floor knows not to book a pin without validating it. Those that do violate Disney policy and face loss of revenue and a QC against them. When the non public codes were shared, there was a spike in calls of people trying to finagle a good deal. They are starting to die down and most honest CMs will shoot a guest down gently if there isn't a pin associated with anyone in their household. Believe me, they will look to see if you have anything attached but if there's not, they can't honor the code.

It is frustrating to see time and time again people knowingly calling in without a valid code and posting about the multiple times that they do it. It's just tying up the phone lines unnecessarily.

If your mom was part of your reservation, then that is why they allowed you to book it. I know you said you didn't include her the first time, but if you indicated to the CM that she would be a guest, then that would explain it.

I booked a trip with my SIL code years ago--she had traveled with us but was not on this trip. The CM booked it anyway and I found out the next day, she should not have done it.

They allowed me to keep the discount--after having talked to managers since it was booked and they took a deposit--but said that the person whose name has the pin must travel.

We ended up buying DVC so never went on that trip but can say, I am glad I no longer have to wait and hope for the codes.

I called a few weeks ago to see if there were any PINs or offers connected to my name for our travel dates in July and the agent (who was not very magical) told me that there was FD for all of JUne but nothing available for July. She did not specify if this was a general public offer or specific to me.

I just don't get the randomness of the PIN marketing system.

This is why we want everyone's information, even when you're traveling together. To prevent this from happening.

I don't get the randomness either!
3 years ago I began planning a trip for my extended family (6 adults, 4 children). It was a first trip for all the children and none of the adults had been in over 15 years. We had already booked our rooms, tickets, and dining when I received my first PIN by email. It was for free dining while we would be on our June trip. I called and they applied it to all 10 of us since all of us and our 3 rooms were booked together. It saved a couple thousand dollars! :cool1:
I've only received a couple PIN codes since and they were for room only discounts during slower months like October and February. We went last year anyway and are going this year too. Maybe they realized we'll pay full price. But oddly, we had already booked to pay full price the first time before we got a PIN. Such confusing marketing!

Yes, how dare people try to have a dream come true vacation for their children. :rotfl2: For some of us, it is frustrating when people on here feel the need to judge others and tell them how they are below them and what awful people they are! Really! I don't think anyone was doing anything to be evil, just trying to afford a vacation they know will make many memories for their family. Just MY 2 cents!

In the end Disney is in the business to make money, they don't owe us any discounts. I don't book anything I can't afford without a discount. I would love to stay in a deluxe but it is just not in my budget. We are staying in April with only a 5% discount at French Quarter, would I be thrilled with Kids Stay and Play Free or Free Dining, heck yes! But if it doesn't happen then I am not out anything because I booked what I could afford.

Really? That's what you inferred from what I posted? Talk about taking a leap.it is frustrating to see the same people post time and time again about calling time after time after the mods have repeatedly deleted threads and bump the reminders. No one owes you free dining. Its great if its offered to the general public but these pin codes are random and sent to specific people for a reason. If free dining is what keeps you from creating your magical vacation for your family, I'm sure once something is released to the general public, the Dis will be the first to know.

I just think its hooey talking about non magical CMs. His dare they try to follow policy. For shame!

I was able to use a PIN in my brother's name. But I was told it was only because it was a relative.

:thumbsup2

I was told by the CM the first time I called that new pins were going to be added everyday up until 6/30.:rolleyes1

And I've read often about people calling that didn't have a PIN on a previous call and now they do, but never received an e-mail or snail mail notifying them. Since it's possible for anyone have a PIN added anytime, I don't see the harm in calling often and asking. :) In fact CMs will sometimes tell you to keep checking back...
