So They Want Us To Celebrate? WELL, OK!!! (We're Back)

We are planning on going to Chefs de France twice, during the trip, once for lunch and once for dinner. Apparently, the new animatronic presentation of Remy, from the movie "Ratatouille" at Chefs de France is done every day, but Sundays, four times a day, from 12-6. We will miss him for our dinner ressie, but will hopefully get to see him when we have lunch there, on our last day. He's only there till September. He looks so cute! Here's a great youtube video of Remy at the restaurant that another Diser posted from their trip. It's really great!

:cool1:TODAY WE’RE IN SINGLE DIGITS!!!!:cool1:

My DH went online this morning and checked us in!!! It is just another indication of how close we are to leaving. The only problem we had was with the room request section of the check-in process. It wasn't allowing us to post our request. So, my DH called reservations and the CM was able to put our request into the system and she also recommended calling the AKL directly three days prior to arrival to reconfirm our request. While this is no guarantee that we'll get our request, the CM was asking questions about when we last visited, how often we've come to WDW, etc., saying that you never know what information may convince someone to honor the request. :confused3 So, who knows? :confused3

Before posting our itinerary, I have to fill you in on what happened today. We discovered that you can check your dining ADRs online. When we tried, it was showing none. :scared1: Of course, that made us a bit concerned. So, I called the dining number to see what's going on.

It seems that most our dining ressies were somehow put under our very old home number! We have no idea how that happened, but if you recall, our trip ressies had the same thing happen, so not overly surprising. Apparently, some of our ressies were under our actual home number, a few under a cell number and most under our old home number. Thankfully, the CM went through it all with me, to verify that everything we wanted did exist. Heck! Imagine if we showed up somewhere and there wasn't ressie? :scared1: All of our ressies were there, and since they really only need our name it's all good, though we do have all the confirmation numbers as a precaution. I could just imagine my reaction if we had shown up to our resort and asked them to print us out a list of our dining ressies and they couldn't find them or couldn't find a whole bunch of them. That is so not a way to start a WDW vacation. At least it's all cleared up now. :thumbsup2

Alright, now on to our itinerary! I hope this is the final version of it. We did make two changes as of this morning and another this afternoon, so anything is possible.

We do hope to spend the hotter times of the day at our resort. We also know that our resort has activities that we will work into the schedule, wherever we can. Likewise, we know there are times we will want to do something at the parks, like a parade, that we may need to go to a park or stick around during an afternoon. Though we have a lot planned, we are also planning to do a lot of relaxing.

All I know is that we are already in single digits!!! :dancer: Two more days and we’ll be only a week away. I truly hope there will be no more changes. So now, we are relying on the DISboards :disrocks: to get us through the final days. We even went to the local water park and every so often would sigh and say, “I can’t wait to get to Disney.” We did go to the pool yesterday and the water park today, getting a nice tan going. :sunny: We hope to return to the water park tomorrow and go to the pool sometime this week. Monday and Tuesday of next week, we aren’t opposed to doing that either.

I still have to finish typing the info from that Disney book, for things to notice at the parks. I also am working on curriculum writing for work, I have a few odds and ends to do and then I’ll hopefully see the 22nd sooner rather than later. :dance3:

:woohoo: I'm excited for you! :yay:

That's great that you were able to get your ADR's straightened out. I know you must have :scared1:when you didn't see them.

:hourglass Not much longer!

Thanks! Yes, I was very :scared1: when I didn't see our ADRs. I will probably go to bed soon, so I'll only be 8 days away!

Though we have a lot planned, we are also planning to do a lot of relaxing. (and digesting!!) :lmao:

Once you see the AKL and all there is to do there you're gonna want to spend a lot of time at the resort - or you'll be kicking yourselves once you get home ...

I hope you've spaced a lot of your meals far apart each day - cuz between the hot weather and all those TS meals, you may be biting off more than you can chew ... :rotfl2: ... (couldn't help myself ... :lmao: )

Lots of food + hot weather = Pepto Bismol Time!!! :scared:

Later ...

Later ...

Somehow, I think we'll manage. :lmao:

I can't believe how time flew! We are in good shape with being ready. We are all packed, except for the things that have to wait till the final day. Laundry is done. There is only the two of us, so we won't accumulate much in 2 days. Of course, there's a bit of cleaning to do before we go, like vacuuming. We cleared out the items out of the fridge that needed to be removed. By the time I was done, my DH looked and said, "Great! We have no food." :rotfl:

We went to the bookstore today and I got a magazine to read, though I may get more at the airport. The magazine is primarily for the plane and pool, though I'm also bringing books, the iPod, the portable DVD player, etc. Of course, there's also the games we are bringing. Hey, I get bored easily. :rotfl2:

Last week, we got my DH a new camera, which he absolutely loves!!! He's been wanting one for quite some time now. Here it is:
NikonP90Camera-1.jpg

Up till now, we had the basic camera. It's been great, because for days, he's been playing around with it, learning what it can do. While I got my magazine, he got a beginner's camera user type of magazine for cameras like he got. He's having so much fun with it. :goodvibes

We got my dog a new toy to play with and get used to that we'll let him bring to the dog resort, while we're away. It's another version of those squeaky bones that he never seems to tire of.

We have plans to play a lot of Wii and watch a bunch of movies between now and tomorrow night, to keep us occupied till we leave. Can you tell we're anxious to go? :yay:

Oh, I also got a D23 magazine from the bookstore that I won't bring on the trip, but I'll read over the next couple of days. It looks so nice. I've been wearing Disney t-shirts the last two days, you know, to get in the spirit of things. . .:woohoo:

My DH also called AKL to check that our room request was posted to them, and they told him it is always good to do that days before you arrive. Hopefully, we'll get our request granted, though we'll always take an upgrade! :thumbsup2

Saturday was all about Disney, it seemed. We went to our friends' birthday party for their 2 year old, and it was all Mickey Mouse themed! My friend dressed up as Mickey Mouse and periodically came out to entertain the kids, the decorations and everything was Mickey, it was great. Then, we went out to dinner with a bunch of friends that night, and it was at an Ethiopian restaurant! Were we getting into the AKL/WDW mindset or what? :goodvibes

It's so hard to believe that we're close to being there already. Wednesday can't get here soon enough.

UP NEXT: Hidden Magic of WDW!!!

You may recall that I bought a book called Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World by Susan Veness. The book was great! I highly recommend it, whether it's your first trip or you've gone for years. While there were some details I already knew, in this book, there were so many I wasn't aware of. So, I typed up a list of things to look for while we're touring the parks. I think it will make this trip even more fun. Check these out:

MAGIC KINGDOM
(1) Big Thunder Mountain – Ride at night and see a party in progress in 2nd floor of saloon.
(2) Pirates of the Caribbean – As you exit, notice Davy Jones’ peg-legged footprints.
(3) Tony’s Townsquare Restaurant – To the left of the stairs, notice the Tramp’s tribute to Lady.
(4) Main Street Streetlights – start off gas by Emporium and turn electric by Casey’s Corner
(5) General Store (Main St.) – Pick up the wall-mounted telephone inside store, next to cash register, near the front.
(6) Cinderella’s Castle – Above front and back entrances are the Disney family’s coat of arms.
(7) Tinker Bell’s Treasures Store – For a special view of Tinker Bell, look in the first keyhole in the sewing drawer next to the door at the front of the shop.
(8) Mickey’s Philharmagic – Notice the scent of jasmine and apple pie wafting at various points during the show.
(9) Peter Pan – Look around before your ship flies out the nursery window. Watch for the building blocks near Wendy’s bed and just under the window, which spell out P Pan and Disney.
(10) Liberty Square –
a. The river of brown gravel down the center of pavement represents the open sewer of the day.
b. Next to Christmas Shoppe, look at the upper window of the home next to the door with number 26 on the front. The lanterns represent Paul Revere’s Ride. Walk around the corner of the same building and look at the upper window on that side for the rifle in the window.
(11) Haunted Mansion – Just before leaving stretching room, listen for the gargoyles to say, “Stay together.”
(12) Splash Mountain – Just as you begin your ascent, look up at the ceiling, where a little gopher pops his head out and shouts, “F.S.U.!” (Florida State Univ.)
(13) Tomorrowland – Take a look at the Tomorrowland Times sold by a robot near the Astro Orbiter. Then walk around to the right, toward the Lunching Pad counter. See the phone booth? Pick it up.

EPCOT
(1) Test Track – When you enter the heat chamber, look left. Someone is making breakfast, with two eggs frying on a bit of aluminum foil on the heat compressor.
(2) Drinking Fountains – Standing on the pathway between Fountain of Nations and Mouse Gear, with the fountain to your right and the shop to your left, you will see 2 drinking fountains ahead of you. Take a drink and listen closely. Something is going on in there!
(3) Spaceship Earth – As you pass the cave dwellers scene, take a quick flash photo of the wall directly to your right. You’ll have a fun surprise when you see the picture later.
(4) Imagination – Look at the water feature as you walk towards the pavilion. The water is shooting upward, instead of down.
(5) Leaving Future World towards World Showcase – Look at the hilly area just beyond the rose garden between the Imagination Pavilion and Refreshment Port. Sometimes, in the summer months, you will see a small robotic contraption moving across the grassy hill. It’s a solar powered lawn mower!
(6) Mexico’s Plaza de los Amigos – Most guests overlook the large contraption to the left of the Kidcot station. In fact, it is both a postcard creator and a rare free souvenir.
(7) Refreshment Outpost (World Showcase) – Open the Coca-Cola coolers. It’s a quirky secret, but when it’s working, it has real Kodak Moment potential, so have a camera ready (just not in the hands of the one opening the cooler).
(8) Germany – Look at the three princes on Das Kaufhaus. Look closely and you’ll see Mickey’s likeness (three circles for his head) on the front of the left-most prince’s crown.
(9) The American Adventure –
a. When you enter the USA Pavilion’s rotunda, walk to the corner of the room, to the left of the front doors. Among the original paintings adorning the walls, you will find a painting of a World War II B-17 Bomber. Stand parallel to the painting and walk its length, watching the bomber as you walk. Notice how it seems to follow you? It works no matter which side you start from. Also, notice that there are women in the painting, since most men were at war, and mechanics were still needed.
b. Walk to the back of the rotunda along the left-hand wall, to the painting entitled “Lesson for the Future,” which has a tie to the Magic Kingdom. The teacher is reading the Swiss Family Robinson.
c. As you walk up the stairs from the lobby, for the “American Adventure” show, you’ll notice the walls and ceiling adorned with real flags, all of which have flown over the United States at some point in history.
i. The banners in the middle row are American flags, including a version of a George III flag, the Betsy Ross flag and the current U.S. flag.
ii. Other flags are from the Revolutionary War or countries that laid claim to some area of land before it became the U.S. (Look for the white flag emblazoned with a large red X. That’s the Spanish Bourbon, the oldest flag in the bunch, dating back to 1513.
(10) Morocco –
a. You’ll know you’ve reached the Fez House when you enter the small courtyard decorated almost entirely in tiles. The upper story is the homeowner’s living quarters. If you stop and listen, you’ll hear the family inside (wait for it!). Apparently, a guest has shown up unannounced and the family is bustling about to get refreshments. If you pay close attention, you may hear the tea service hit the floor when one of the children trips over another. Stand there long enough and you’ll hear the English speaking guest arrive.
b. There is a small fountain to the right of the restaurant entrance. Stand there for a few minutes and you may hear a conversation from within the shop behind you. The merchant and one of his patrons are discussing some of the shop’s items.
(11) France – Look up at the basket on the shelf behind the tasting counter, in Aux Vins (store of French wines). Ratatouille is peeking out from among the grapes.
(12) United Kingdom –
a. The Tea Caddy shop is based on the Stratford-upon-Avon cottage owned by Anne Hathaway, wife of Shakespeare.
b. Enter the Toy Soldier store and go all the way to the back. You’ll find a library used by Mary Poppins (and inexplicably Winnie the Pooh). On the large coat and umbrella rack is a bundle tied with string, addressed to Mr. Banks. To the right of the umbrella stand, you’ll find a small grouping of photographs. They are pictures of Christopher Robin Milne, son of A.A. Milne holding his beloved bear. The photograph on the shelf above the grouping is of Milne and his son.

Hollywood Studios
(1) Sid’s Cahuenga’s One of a Kind – This shop, on the left as you enter the park, is the only place in WDW where you can buy an authentic photo of Walt Disney.
(2) Sunset Boulevard –
a. Take the time to look at the area near the curb running alongside the Sunset Boulevard. There are contractor’s stamps at various points along the boulevard with the logo Mortimer Bros. Construction Co. 1928.
b. Look at the red trolley parked in front of Sunset Market Ranch. The trolley’s number, found on the side, 694, commemorates when Sunset Blvd opened on 6/2/94.
(3) The Great Movie Ride –
a. As you enter the James Cagney scene, just after Mary Poppins, look at the posters on the wall to your left. The bottom of one of them has been torn, and you can see Mickey Mouse’s shoes peeking out from behind.
b. Keep looking to your left, as you pass through the gangster scene. You may catch a glimpse of Mickey’s silhouette in the right-hand corner of the Western Chemical Company building’s upper window.
c. Look at the hieroglyphics in the Egyptian scene. See if you can locate R2-D2 and C-3PO (directly across from Indiana Jones, on the left-hand side of the tram, just about at eye level near the snakes). A large hieroglyphic featuring Donald Duck as an Egyptian servant offering a slice of cheese to Pharaoh Mickey Mouse cab be found on the left-hand wall in the Well of Souls scene, directly in the corner of the third tier of hieroglyphics, just before you leave the area.
(4) Animation Courtyard –
a. You might not have time for a family photo before your group departs for the Backlot Tour, so the attraction designers have thoughtfully placed a photo-op tram near the entry to the attraction. But watch out. . .you may get misted!
b. Stand in front of the giant Coke bottle, but be sure you hand someone your camera first.
(5) Streets of America –
a. In the city area, the red fire hydrant in the alley two blocks up from the San Francisco backdrop, next to the Chevrolet building opens at random, with a cooling or possibly jolting shower of water.
b. A newsstand on the left side of the San Francisco backdrop has newspaper headlines of Steamboat Willie on the front cover! On the right-hand side of the backdrop are two newspaper boxes. By now, you know it’s worth taking a quick look.
(6) Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3-D –
a. Look up at the clock on the front of Muppet Vision. That’s Gonzo hanging from the minute hand!
b. Just as you enter the building, there is a box office to your right. Look under the mat for a key.
c. Don’t look now, but some of the soldiers standing on the rafters above you in the pre-show area aren’t wearing any pants! They haven’t found them by the time they reach the final scene of the 3-D movie, either!
(7) Star Tours – As you enter the room with the moving baskets along the Star Tours queue, look over the railing at the bits and pieces lying around. See if you can find the robotic Kermit the Frog sitting on the edge of one of the shelves below you and to the left of G2-9T, who is working on another robot. Then watch the foot connected to the pair of trousers lying to the left of Kermit. It moves!
(8) Backlot Tour – On your way out of the Backlot Express, exit through the doors on the right leading out to the upper seating area (as opposed to those exiting into the courtyard where the police car from Roger Robbit is displayed). Before you exit, look at the plaster casts on the shelf above the windows. The one of the nun is particularly curious. Watch her eyes as you pass by; she is watching you!
(9) Indiana Jones Stunt Show Spectacular – As you pass the entry to the show, to the left of the entry, down the path on the right hand side, there is a well with a sign saying DO NOT pull the rope. Notice NOT has been crossed out. You know what to do by now!

Animal Kingdom
(1) Discovery Island Trails – For one of the best kept secrets in the park, take that first photograph of the tree from the walkway, but then walk to the back of the trails for an even more magnificent view, with no objections and no unwanted passers-by in the foreground of your pictures. If you arrive first thing in the morning or return toward the end of the day, it is likely you will have the area to yourself.
(2) The Boneyard – There is a live crocodile that makes his home between the Dig Site and Dino Bites. As you leave the Dig Site area, walk toward Restaurantosaurus, give him a wave and smile as you walk past.
(3) Kilimanjaro Safari Ride – For the enjoyment of the passengers, your driver will tune into music on the Jeep’s radio, which plays an uplifting, inspiring tune. It is a composition called “Hapa Duniani,” incorporating a modified version of Baba Yetu, the Lord’s Prayer, in Swahili, as sung by the Voices of Celebration.

I can't believe I forgot to show you guys the luggage or purses we'll be taking. Here's a picture of our entire two sets of Mickey luggage:
Luggage.jpg

For this trip, we're taking almost all of it, except the black shoulder bag. All of the smaller luggage and the red larger are packed and the large black luggage has stuff in it, with plenty of room for souvenirs!!!

To help carry things to and from home and Orlando, and to use for nicer restaurants, I'll be bringing this Coach purse. Since we're staying at the AKL, I thought it would fit right in (don't the colors make you think of a certain long necked animal?):
CoachBag.jpg

Then, for my day to day purse, I'm bringing my trusty Vera Bradley purse with the strap that can be changed to any length. I love this purse:
VeraBradleybag.jpg

So, I think we're all set! :goodvibes

ohhhh so excited for you guys! love the hidden disney info..i'll have to print out the list. I knew of some of the stuff but not all :)

Questions: No changes in the final 48 hours?!? (I'm disappointed in ya ... ) :lmao:

I printed out your list of "hidden" stuff - and with 2pt font, it's still pretty hidden ..!! :rotfl:

Have a great trip!! :dance3:

Your itenarary looks great.. your going to have an amazing trip with a lot of things planned.

 We always do a HUGE cleaning prior to our trip..there's nothing worse than coming home to a mess.. I love that Camera! I"m so jealous.. i've been asking DBF for a professional camera for a lonnggggggggg time. Your post about Hidden Magic of WDW was so sweet:cutie:.. I loved reading it...

Your luggage is adorable, I love the mickey theme and your purse is to die for....LOVE, LOVE it. You have such great taste... and we cannot forget the Vera!!

Wow, you're down to the wire now! :woohoo:

I think I have the same camera as your DH. Is it the P90? That is what I have and I've had it for about a month and a half. I still have A LOT to learn though. :faint: I was thinking of Disney when I bought it. My last camera wasn't fast enough so I missed out on a lot of good pics during our last trip.

I like the luggage,::MickeyMo it's so appropriate and your Coach bag will fit in nicely at AKL. Your throw on the loveseat is so cute! ;)

I'm looking forward to reading your TR and seeing all your pics when you get back.

:tink: Have a great vacation. Be safe. :thumbsup2

Have a great trip!! :dance3:

Well. . .if there were any changes, you'll just have to wait till we return to find out! Can you stand it?! :rotfl2:

Thanks! :goodvibes

This post is a bit scattered.. i just had alot of things to say about different posts...

I truly can't wait for you to fill me in about your trip.. I"m excited to see how you both enjoyed AKL... I just hope you don't start while i'm still in the world.

I can't believe your leaving in less than 48 hours...:woohoo::yay::banana:

Your luggage is adorable, I love the mickey theme and your purse is to die for....LOVE, LOVE it. You have such great taste... and we cannot forget the Vera!!

I'll try not to start with my TR till you return, which shouldn't be too hard. It normally takes me a few days, at least, to get started.

We're almost done with the cleaning process. I agree that it feels better to return to a clean home. :goodvibes My DH loves the camera, too. It was my gift to him for all he's done. I'm glad you liked the post from that book. Before you go on your next big WDW trip, you should check it out. I think you'd love it.

I'm glad you liked the luggage. That's one of my favorite Coach purses. :cloud9:

I can't wait to compare trip reports when our trips are done, but I'm not so anxious for the trip to be over yet!

Be safe. :thumbsup2

Yes, it's down to the wire and feels so good!!!

Yes, it is the P90. You're right. There is a ton to learn on it. I told my DH to teach me, after he's read and learned each feature of it. Your reason is the same reason he got his! How funny. :rotfl:

Thank you for the compliment on the luggage the Coach bag. I love that throw. We got it on our last trip to WDW. With the exception of one room, we have Disney stuff everywhere in our home. :goodvibes

:surfweb:I'll be looking for you on the TR. Stay tuned. . .:surfweb:

Hey there! I don't think I've posted at all on your PTR but I know I saw it a while ago. I thought you were going soon...turns out your just a couple days away! That is so exciting. Have a great time!

Oh, and I love the list of stuff from the Hidden Magic book.

Hi! Welcome back. :goodvibes

Something was wrong with my ticker. I'll go and fix it. We actually leave tomorrow. I can't wait!!!

I'm glad you liked the info from the book. It's such a small portion of all it has in it.

Come on back for when I do the TR. :cool1:

It feels surreal that we'll be at AKL 24 hours from now. We're all done with just about everything. This morning, we got up early, so we'd be very tired and would go to sleep tonight. In the past, we've had a tendency to not sleep the night before a trip, because we were too excited. :cool1:

I got my manicure and pedicure done. Hair was taken care of this past weekend. Everything is packed and triple checked. Our home is all cleaned, except vacuuming, which I'm holding off till later. Dinner is our only meal left. Man, time is just ticking away!!!

:surfweb: I'm hoping to post in the morning, before we go. If I'm not able, see you when I get back! :yay::woohoo::yay:

It sounds surreal that you'll be staying at AKL in less than 24 hours....:woohoo:

I love that you got a mani and a pedi.. I do the exact same thing.

Just incase you don't get back online:

Have a great trip, enjoy yourselves and AkL!! I can't wait to see your photos and hear all about your trip!!!

Yea - like you're gonna get a good night's sleep tonight ... :rotfl2:
