my dd's is not (as of now). And boy oh boy, she is not a happy camper. :p

She keeps coming out and saying "But Mom the roads are bad and I want to stay home and play in the snow." She's 6, how does she know the roads are bad :rotfl: ? I then have to remind her that we live right across the street from the school so if the roads are too bad I will walk her over, then she will also get to be in the snow. She doesn't like that at all.

(I will wait to do my happy :dancer: until she goes to bed)

Happy to hear that you have the day off tomorrow.

I teach too. We are also closed tomorrow!!!! :cool1:

So sorry for your poor dd. (If it were me...my 6yo DD would stay home with me & enjoy a day off too, but that's just me). Enjoy your day!

Awwww....let her stay home!

I'm thinking about it. But I know that if she stays home she will be bored all day. She'll play in the snow for a few minutes and then want to play the computer or watch TV all day. And since that's not going to happen she'll be pouty.

But there's a good chance I will cave and let her stay. I'm sure there won't be many kids that will actually make it in anyway and since she has only missed one day all year I don't think it would hurt.

Oh poor thing. Hopefully they'll change their minds by the morning. When I was in school, my parents taught in the next district over. But, my district was more likely to get off school than theirs. So, if they had a snow day, then I did for sure. Sometimes, I got a snow day and they didn't. I remember my dad coming in one morning grumbling that I didn't have school, but they did. :thumbsup2

Lucky!! :P
you should let her stay home too. :)

We all (three different schools) have two hour delays. :cool1:

I love that because we don't get charge for a snow day but we can sleep late in the morning. I only work till 12:15 too so it's a short morning for me!

ETA: I said this morning that I want a snow day where I can stay home and the kids have to go to school!

Yay for you, but sad for your dd.

If she gets pouty tell her my story. In I believe 1996, we had a blizzard. EVERY school on Long Island except mine and one other was closed. The other had a 2 hour delay, mine didn't. When I got to school, theirs closed, mine was still open. Just about 1/4 of the students and teachers came in. So remind your daughter it can be worse. She could be the only school open! How horrible that was for me, I will never forget it.

I hope she gets off tomorrow! (And that my job closes too!)

I just got a call that ours is closed also..

Poor hubby.. he is off tomorrow for Lincolns birthday. Now he is going to have all 4 kids here :rotfl2:

Come on Mom, everyone else gets to stay home! P-A-LEEEEEEEEEEEEZE!!!

One more vote to let her stay home!!

That happened several times in my wonderful school district. You'd hear Baldwin closed then they'd skip Bellmore-Merrick and get to Briarcliff secretarial school closed!

I can't complain. As an adult, I got 4 snow days last year, then four hurricane days.

Send her to school! Get something done around the house. I know I'm in the minority, but my parents are teachers and the thought of them letting me stay home when I was perfectly healthy is just laughable. So my opinion is biased too I guess.

We don't have snow days, darn! Guess I can't complain, it'll be 73 tomorrow. :)

Just a quick update. I let her choose. At first she said she wanted to go but when it came time to get ready she decided against it.

Plus, her dd left this morning on a business trip for the next week (he's going to Orlando :guilty: and we are stuck here in a foot of snow). She's feeling sad and clingy, I think it's a good day for snowman building, hot chocolate and cuddling.
