So that's why you packed 10 pairs of underwear!!! A Surprise trip Nov. 13

Last I left off, we were on It's a Small World. After IASW, we decided to visit Rapunzel in her magnificent castle. Those have to be the best decorated restrooms in all of Disney.

Bladders relieved, we set off. As we passed Columbia Harbor House, we saw the LARGE candy cane outside and decided to hop in for cookies and cocoa.

The hot cocoa was a great warm temperature. I was afraid beforehand that it would be too hot for the kids but it was just warm enough to warm you up without burning your tongue. PERFECT temperature!

Each of us was given 2 good sized cookies which neither of my boys finished. I felt bad about that and would have made them share if I had known ahead of time.

When we walked out of CHH, the CM's at the door were carolling. It was so cute!! They were singing the 12 days of Christmas while we were there.

I think this was 5 golden rings. We hung out a few minutes but my boys were ready to ride so we moved on.

Random candy cane picture on our way through the park because I thought it was cool looking....

At this point both boys wanted to ride Thunder Mountain Railroad. Now I'm not a fan of this ride during the day much less at night so I let them go in. They were going to try to do some kind of rider swap so that DH could ride with each of them. That was the plan as I waited at the exit for whomever would get off first.

So I waited while I drank my hot chocolate and cookies. I have no pictures from this point simply because I was enjoying my snacks WAY too much. I could have eaten everyone's cookies but I didn't. After a little while, I see DS7 coming out of the exit running and whooping all excited so I headed towards him to ask how he liked it. Behind him I noticed DH and DS11 coming a little slower. I immediately thought that DS11 had backed out once it was his turn (he is NOT a thrill rider). However, he rode with some random guy on the ride all by himself. Thank you SuperDad out there where ever you are for riding with my son! DS7 LOVED every minute of it. DS11 said it was too loud and too rough. Well at least he tried it!!

Looking at my notes, I think that the candy cane picture was taken on the way to Pirates after they rode Thunder Mountain. Oh well, it's all good.

We were surprised to see that Blackbeard's fog was broken on the ride. It was broken the whole week. I was disappointed because we LOVE that part but we made sure to say it for him each time we passed!

After Pirates, we tried to ride Jingle Cruise but the line was fairly long so I grabbed a quick picture and we were off!

At this point we decided that we should probably just find a nice spot for the parade so that could have a front row seat. We headed over to the entrance of the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe with the carriage and found a great spot with no one in front of us. We spent a few minutes visiting with each other when DS11 said that he needed to potty. DH swore that there were restrooms right next to the Presidents so off they went. What he would tell me later was that he always thought the exit was restrooms. :confused3 Anyways, while they were gone, a CM came by around 7:50 to tell us that the parade was being moved from 8:15 to 8:00. I don't know if it was because of the weather or a typo or what but the boys weren't back, the people were crowding in and the CM's were now blocking the street. I was getting worried that they would not make it back in time. Throughout the whole time they were gone, a sweet lady next to me and her sweet hubby helped me to "save our spots" by spreading out a little. When my family FINALLY reappeared on the other side of the street, the lady cheered and waved them over.

Everyone in their places, our parade started!!

Most of my pictures are pretty blurry because the floats and people kept moving but I figured I would still share them.

Mickey and Minne were waving at everyone and then kind of freaked out when they saw us. We waved back and were excited to be noticed!!

The dancers were dancing away doing their thing and then when they saw us, they also freaked out and blew us kisses or waved a big hello. I was beginning to wonder what was going on.

Donald and Daisy acted the same way as the other characters and now I was REALLY suspicious. I was trying to figure out why everyone was going crazy when they saw us. My kids were LOVING the attention!

Chip and Dale acted the same as the other characters before them and I began to notice that the "sweet lady" who helped me hold our spots would freak out right back. Hmm.....maybe it isn't us.....

Sorry for the blurry pics but here is where I realized that it had NOTHING to do with us!! The dwarves went NUTS when they saw us....err, I mean her, and quite a few of them came up to kiss the "sweet lady"'s hand on the side of us. Hmmmm.....so she is a celebrity not us..... now to figure out who she is.....

CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST

So this lady was someone special but my boys did not care at all. They thought everyone was going crazy about them! It was cute to watch them get all excited!

More blurry pictures!

These dancers made a point to come over, kiss her hand and ask how she was doing. They called her by name and gave her a hug before they ran on to keep up.

Isn't this in the Dream Come True parade minus the "Happy Holiday" things?

My favorite part of the parade was that after the "food" floats would pass, they would pipe in the smell of whatever the float was. Yum! Yum!

These were so cool!!

So many details in the floats!

Oh the gingerbread smells that came out of this one!!!

Love it!

Again, these people came right up to us because of the "celebrity lady" on the side of us. My boys LOVED it!

Clarabelle baking goodies

This car was so cute!!

Hey, a non-blurry picture finally.....

After the parade, I turned to our celebrity friend and asked, "Were you a castmember?" She smiled and said, "Yes." Since she answered that one, I posed another one. I asked, "Are you still one?" She smiled and nodded. At this point, I figured I had asked enough. She was obviously a performer because all of the performers knew her and she kept making little comments about them by name. We wished them a Merry Christmas and they wished us the same. She told my boys that she hoped they would love the rest of their party.

With that, we all parted ways and began heading to Main Street to find a spot for Wishes.

Your older son's response to finding out where you were going, aka the title of your report? PRICELESS!

Wow what great parade pixie dust! And that's not even something you could have planned if you TRIED.

:welcome: Yes, it was priceless. Oh that sweet child of mine, of course that would be his answer!! He is a bit obsessive at times! rofl.... We are going to Disney and he is worried about underwear!

Wow what great parade pixie dust! And that's not even something you could have planned if you TRIED.

It was so cool!!! I don't think my sweet clueless kids ever figured out that everyone was excited about HER and not them. They were just excited to get attention!

Signing on! Can't wait to hear the rest!

:welcome: I can't wait to share the rest. We had some really great days!

First off, somewhere along the way, I forgot to mention that we did eventually get a text saying our room was ready while we were eating dinner. Crazy how long it took but hey, we were enjoying the park!!!

Back to our story.......

After the parade, we started to head towards the Hub for a view of the castle but it was jam packed. DH decided that he wanted a Christmas lights necklace that he had seen quite a few people wearing so we stopped the little vendor off to the side and asked about them. Only $10? That's a steal at Disney! Unfortunately sidewalk vendors are cash only - no magic bands, no room charges, no debit cards, etc. :worried: She let us know that they would have more in the shops around the park. Thank you sweet lady! And we're off......

I stopped at the potty for a minute and the boys headed off to find goodies. We all met back up a few minutes later inside the Emporium. DS11 had glow with the show ears. DS7 had a glow wand. DH had his Christmas lights. I wanted something special from the party. MVMCP ornaments? Oh yeah, I'll take one of those! So I get in line (that is the only way you can even look at the ornaments) with all of their "junk". Soon I was at the cash register and asked to see an ornament. This is how the conversation went.

Me - "Oh that's nice!!!"
CM - "MmmmmHmmmm"
Me - "How much is it?"
CM - "$59.95"
Me - *choking* "Oh well I think that we will have to wait til next year."
CM - "It's limited edition, ma'am. It won't be around next year."
Me - "Oh I see. Well in that case, I'll be o.k. without it."

HOLY SMOKES!!!! $59.95?!?!?!?!?!? :scared1: Did I miss a "covered in gold" memo???? Whew, and so I paid for our items and we found a spot for Wishes.

But first, some castle photos because you can never have too many castle photos....

This is where we decided to watch Wishes from. It is on the little path that cuts in front of Crystal Palace. The popcorn stand (the black part in the bottom right of the picture) did take away from some of the things ON the castle but other than that it was okay. Best part was that no one was in front of us and no one was behind us. Oh yeah, the ducks also quacked the ENTIRE show. At first it was funny but it did get annoying by the end.

DS11 in his ears during the show.....

Playing between shows.....

I must admit that because Wishes is my favorite show and my pictures usually are terrible anyways, that I don't even try to photograph Wishes. I sit back and enjoy the show without worrying about taking pictures. It was really neat to see the fireworks exploding further out around the park though.

Another castle shot as we find things to do while the crowds exit.....

Off to Laugh Floor! I was a bit disappointed that the show had changed. Instead of the story about Boo and the monsters, it was more "educational" and related to Monsters University. Anyways, it was still cute, just different and since we had practiced "Mike with one eye" and "Randall disappearing" all day we were a bit disappointed.

After the show, we decided to do something we have NEVER EVER done before. You see, my DS7 LOVES Stitch as in obsessed with him. However, long before our first ever trip to Disney, my in-law's warned us all about how horrible Stitch's Great Escape was with all the noises and smells and "that thing always pushing down on you" in the dark. They said it was VERY rough and jerked you all over. Because of their review, we had never been inside. DS7 had always wanted to try it but he always chickened out at the last minute. Well tonight was the night.....he was ready......he was brave......he was crying in fear but we were going to ride it. I mean after all this is the kid who enjoys Dinosaur. How bad can it really be?

We were fine in the first room. In the second room, he began to get really really nervous. When they said we had a level 3 alien.....he FREAKED. :scared1: It would have been funny except I was pretty nervous as well. So we go in and these harnesses lower onto us (that's kinda cool that it stops when it bumps you) and we were stuck riding it for the first time EVER. The whole time, I kept waiting for the "bad part", for the sky to fall out, for the rough ride. Instead, we got off at the end as DS7 screamed, "I LOVED IT!" much to the surprise of all the crazy people around us (who've probably ridden it a million times and were only riding it so that the crowds could leave the park). Now I wonder what ride did my in-law's ride??? Surely not the same one we did!

With that, we were tired so we headed home....

We stopped along the way to marvel at the snow falling from the sky.

Beautiful big "flakes" of snow! My boys were amazed so we stopped for a few minutes to play in it.

People were lining up for the second parade

After that, we headed home.

When we arrived at Jambo House, there were quite a few LARGE trucks (moving truck size) right outside the front door unloading LOADS of things all covered by large clear plastic tarps. My photos really aren't that good because it was dark and I didn't feel right taking flash pictures of the CMs who were trying to be so secretive.

There were pallets and pallets of these. Some on every floor.

Our whole lobby was cordoned off.

Last night as an "empty" lobby

Up next - a look at our room and our thoughts on AKV

Whew you guys sure are quiet! Well I'm home with a sick one today so I added a countdown to my signature and a link to my TR as well.

Glad he is feeling better :thumbsup2 we've had crazy weather in Texas and are all under the weather

We're super excited for our first on site stay and hoping it will start the trend for many World vacations to come :cool1: :woohoo:

Warning - My pictures are AWFUL!!

O.k. so it's late, VERY late and we were just seeing our room. The boys were tired but excited and as we waited on luggage I tried to snap a few pictures of our room before they totally messed it up. I found the room darker than most even with the lights on but the flash on my camera made the room white. Therefore my pictures are dark.....REALLY dark!!

Our Mickey head towel

Bathroom sinks - I found these to be really dark but I'm used to lots of light.

Cute animals on the tiles in the "kitchen"

Mouse left for us by our mousekeeping person

Sometime after that picture our luggage arrived and I was distracted by unloading instead of taking pictures. As I was loading clothes into the drawers under the TV, I heard a LOUD boom at the sliding glass of the balcony. Turning to see what happened, I noticed DS7 holding his nose crying. Something outside spooked him and he turned to run inside forgetting that there was glass between him and the room. His nose immediately started swelling in one spot and even began to turn colors a little. I hurried out to get him ice from the ice machine. We kept it on his nose for the rest of the time we were awake but I resigned myself to the fact that we may have pictures of him with two black eyes for the rest of the trip!

Our thoughts on Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo was that it was a gorgeous resort but that it was far from all of the parks except for Animal Kingdom. We felt it was also HUGE. Luckily we were able to get a room close to the bridge in the lobby but after walking around the resort a few times looking at animals, we saw that there are rooms WAY out there!

We probably won't stay here again but it is NOTHING against the resort at all. DH just loved being in the Boardwalk area and he missed being "home".

Glad he is feeling better :thumbsup2 we've had crazy weather in Texas and are all under the weather

We're super excited for our first on site stay and hoping it will start the trend for many World vacations to come :cool1: :woohoo:

His symptoms were similar to a virus but only for an hour and a half!!! Sadly, I had already taken off today to go Christmas shopping and he got sick RIGHT before school so he stayed home with me. Not only did I not get my errands run but I didn't get any peace and quiet either because he was feeling great before 10 a.m.!!! :rolleyes1

Texas?? Cool. I live in southwest Louisiana.

Staying onsite is amazing!! We have our first off site stay this May. It's not my choice but my in-laws want to stay offsite. I'll definitely miss Disney's hospitality and pools as well as their transportation.
