It is, if it's a light enough engine. Ours didn't qualify for the official program due to the engine size, but because of the program going on, the dealer went ahead and gave us the lower C4C total for a trade in which paid the RV off and then some. So for the cost of the RV payment, storage fee and upkeep, we have a new car and don't have to worry about selling the RV outright.

It WAS a beautiful RV. it's gotten worn out over the years. The inside had more ducttape than you could imagine. The joke in our family is that the RV is haunted. it just randomly runs and stalls at it's will. We're not entirely sure it would have sold. We have shoveled so much money into it and we still can't get every thing fixed. plus, when we bought it, we had three little ones who could all sleep together more or less and now we have two very tall teenage boys who just don't fit. It was time to let it go and we did not want to go through the hassle of selling. we actually got close to what the nada guide said, withing a couple hundred and we got a brand new car out of the deal. We're going to get into tent or cabin camping for a while and maybe look at something else down the road.

That's the issue with Cash for Clunkers - you might get a better deal selling your old clunker, but this program takes all the hassle out of the deal. Plus you get other rebates, etc. from a dealer who wants to move a new car. You don't have to go through the hassle of listing something, finding a private buyer, etc. If your clunker is in the same neighborhood as the rebate, it makes sense to me to go for it!!
