I was the first to vote "no":woohoo: :rotfl: but before you go on and say, "how could you have NOT seen The Sound Of Music!?!?", i'm only 12, so don't blame me.

I voted no, but I have seen scattered scenes, so I should have voted that way instead. If I have ever seen all of it it has been blocked from my memory. I have absolutely no desire to sit through it. Ever. It is long AND a musical. 'Nuff said.

Seen it, own it, and make my children watch it popcorn::

I however much to my DH dismay never seen Gone With the Wind or Ben Hur and have been told I will "have" to sit through them one day

Yes, I love it! We watched it in school in 6th grade, we were studying parts oh the Holocaust and the teachers wanted to tie this is.

I've seen it numerous times (I have the DVD). My mom used to watch it every time it was on TV, and I think it just kind of grew on me (like my appreciation of Barry Manilow ;) ). We saw the Mirabella Gardens when we were in Salzburg several years ago. I wanted to take the Sound of Music tour there, but we were only there for the day and DH said nope. This thread reminds me I have to pull it out so DS3 can watch it. Must start the brainwashing early...

The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorite movies. DD and I have watched it many, many times together. I did brainwash her early! DH hates it so I either watch alone or DD and I retreat to the den!

I've seen it a million times, DH and most of my kids have seen it several time, but dd12 never saw it. She just landed the roll of Louisa in local community theatre, so I will now have her watch the DVD! :rotfl2:

Many, many times. Love that movie. When we were on vacation in Germany we did the 'Sound of Music' tour. It was my favorite tour!

It's probably my all time favorite movie. My dog is even named after one of the characters.

Nope - seen some clips and know most of the music, but I've never seen the movie.

For some reason that I don't quite get, it just doesn't appeal to me. Oh well.:rolleyes1

My mom watched it every time it was on when I was growing up. Now I watch it every time its on. Then I sing the songs for a few days after and the kids roll their eyes at me. Guess they won't be watching it every time it comes on.

I've seen it several times. While I wouldn't call it a "favorite" it's a very good movie and I would recommend it as a movie that should be seen at least once. I'm not a fan of the musical genre, but this one is exceptional.:)

I've seen it numerous times. When I was in the Army stationed in Germany we took a trip to Salzburg. I toured the castle that is shown way up on the hill (can't remember the name of it but it was beautiful) and saw the gazebo that was used for filming. Salzburg is a wonderful city and I would love to visit again!

One of my favorites. Many years ago, pre-kids, one of the local movie theaters played it as some sort of summer classic type thing. DH had never seen it and didn't want to go, but I made him. He loved it! He will break out in song from time to time. DD loves it too. I don't think DS has seen the whole thing through yet.

I have seen it many times and did the Sound of Music tour when we were in Austria (Salzburg). We even danced in the Gazebo!

My parents are from Austria. My sister was even born there, near Salzburg. When I was very young, my parents wanted me to watch the movie since they were from there. For whatever reason, I REALLY didn't want to watch it, but it was so important to them that they made me. I was so mad! I LOOOOOOOVED it, but told them it was just OK. Since then, I've watched it EVERY chance I get and my family knows how much I love it now. My favorite scene of any movie is when Maria and the Captain dance the Lendler (sp?). When we first got a DVD player, that was the first DVD we got. Can you guess this is my FAVORITE movie! But I have to admit, Disney's Enchanted is right up there at the top with it now! :lovestruc

i saw it in a movie theater when it came out, as a child!

and (almost) every year since, on TV

never bothered to buy the DVD....

I can't tell you how many times I've seen it. I grew up watching it on TV. Then I bought it on video as a young adult. Then I bought it on dvd.

My dad though has never seen the entire movie.
