So Sick of Rude Golfers--this time harrassing sand cranes :(

I've thought about turning on the irrigation system. That would be nice, getting hosed with stinky reclaimed water. YUCK!

That works really well for us when the kids come to play basketball and bounce the ball of my husband's car in the driveway.

Not in FL, you shoot first then ask questions. Woo Hoo! :sad2:

Not to take this further off-topic, but I carry a CHL in Texas and you can shoot if you feel threatened, but you'd better be prepared for a civil suit afterwards, and it doesn't matter if the person who threatened you is outside of your car, on your lawn - or inside your home standing over your bed.

Not to say you wouldn't/couldn't win, but I can't imagine being hauled into court after shooting someone out of self-defense by the assailant's family. Unfortunately, that's what usually happens and you'd better hope you get 12 people who believe you had the right to shoot.

This is what was drilled into our heads during the course. I think we did 10 minutes of shooting and eight hours of CYA classes. I'm talking about gun-toting Texas here - I can't imagine that other states who issue CHL's don't have the same issues.

Anne

I've been known to do this and set off my car alarm when people get a little too close for comfort. :rotfl:

And for the golfers, you could always wait right until he's about to take a swing and then set off a bull-horn. Then act all stupid. :rolleyes1

Time to get creative. Next time carry a nice little target outside and place it near the golf cart. Get out the bow and arrow or the paint gun and start practicing. An arrow whizzing past you gets your attention real fast  ! Learned that at an outdoor Ted Nugent show ;) .

So my advice would be to "get smart" like we did. Put up some type of wrought iron fence or decorative border (whatever your HOA will approve) to prevent golfers from driving on your property. Neither one will detract from your view and definitely helps keep blood pressure at normal levels!

If you want a natural type look, you could line the property boundary with small boulders, just high enough to prevent a golf cart from driving in.

Put up a wrought iron fence. That is what we did and it worked wonders in keeping folks out of the yard.

You're thinking of putting a pool in. In Florida, you must have a fence or a lanaii around your pool. A wrought iron fence done right will enhance your yard yet not take away from your views and keep golf carts out.

Problem solved.

UGH. It sounds like too much stress to live on a golf course. My future in-laws used to live on one and hated the spring/summer months. In Florida, you probably have to deal with this all year.

The pool will be screened. We're thinking that as part of the pool project, we'll have a wrought iron fence put around the yard.

Meanwhile, DH says it will be easy to rig up a button in the kitchen that I can press to set off the irrigation in the back yard without the golfers ever even seeing me. :rotfl: Like I said, it's not the guys who walk even ten feet onto the yard to get their balls--I've got absolutely no problem with that. It's the ones who drive the carts onto the yard and the ones who come right up to the house, or swing from the yard. Those are the guys who are going to take an unexpected shower.

BTW--thanks for the tip about waiting to buy the pool at the home show. We're in no rush, so we're going to look into all of our options and pretty much know what we want, then sign at the Home show. If I can save that kind of cash for waiting, I've got all the time in the world!

I forgot to tell you on the other thread, but one of the things I liked about this house is that the master bathroom has a back door right to the pool. So you can come in and use the bathroom without tramping through the rest of the house. Just a thought I wanted to pass on.

We've got a door from the lanai right into the guest bath already--all of our builders floorplans are designed with one of the lanai doors into a bath. :thumbsup2

Do you take care of your grass or does the association?

if you do shoot the dude, drag his carcas into your house, then you are justified in shooting him. otherwise, if he is just on your property, i think you would have a harder time. hope this helps.

That is not necessarily true. Read back. It may better a better defense. But not an automatic justification.

Don't worry, I"m not going to shoot anyone. I'm just going to shower them with swamp water. Perfectly legal for me to test my irrigation system any time of my choosing. :thumbsup2

Cursing with a golf club in hand, on a golf course or very near to it, would not cause a reasonable prudent person believing death or great bodily harm would ensue.

I don't know, tiff--I think I would be pretty darn scared. Depends on how menacing he is really. I mean if he was just swearing at me, no. But if he were coming toward me and verbally threatening me, I sure would be thinking he meant to harm me.
