I have applied for loads of jobs in the past few months and don't you think it's SO rude when they don't reply? Call or write or anything?? ARGH!!!

No, I don't think it's rude at all... considering the number of applications and resumes most companies receive for every open position. It would be an overwhelming task to respond to every applicant. In most cases, companies screen applicants and only contact those chosen for interviews.

I understand how you feel. I used to feel the same way until I helped a recruiter in our company. We were looking to fill a position in our department and he was so busy he asked if I would compile all of the resumes that came in for that position.

Can I tell you... We had 320 applicants. I had no idea.

Try not to take it personal. Recruiters are just so busy, it would be impossible to respond back to everyone.

No company I know of responds to each applicant. With the sheer number of applications/resume's they get it would be a fantastically overwhelming task to do so. The best thing you can do is to call the HR department of the company you applied with and ask what the status of your application is. Also, if you've been interviewed already, send a follow up letter thanking them for their time and reminding them quickly of your desire to work for the company and what you can "bring to the tabe". It has always worked for me!

I don't think it is rude at all. Depending on the position, there are hundreds of applicants.

The only time I think it's rude is when they have you come in for an interview, tell you you'll be hearing from them, and then they dont contact you, ever. THAT is rude. I'd rather have them tell me up front that they didn't think I was a good match--I have had this happen a few times, and in two of three cases I had to agree with them and was feeling the same way.

Exactly! Dh has interviewed with 2 different companies in the past few months and neither one bothered to let him know he didn't get the job. How hard is it to send a rejection letter. I think that is incredibly rude.

I understand how you feel, I am in the same position. And I have recently been accepting resumes for a position we have open here and I have contacted every applicant, even if it's by email. I know this isn't feasible for some companies, but I just wanted to say that some do it.
