Our youngest DD just turned 13 in March. A few weeks before her birthday, she heard about GKTW and was telling her about the Power of 10 program. She got excited and wanted to do something. She same to me and asked, "Dad would it be OK if I asked my friends coming to my party to not buy me gifts but just bring cash instead to give to GKTW?" Needless to say, I pulled a Teresa and started crying :)

She raised $120 and can't wait to send it off.... so someone help me out, where do I send this to count towards the Power of 10?

Thanks for all you do to inspire us all... even little 13 year old girls... to make a difference :thumbsup2

My 11 year old is doing the same thing! She decided she wanted to have a donation birthday party and I suggested Give Kids the World! It's now turned into an ice cream social, with half the community invited, at our local hall.

I may have set myself up though...not sure how I'm going to top this next year :)

You can also mail a check (or checks) of your donations directly to GKTW. This way there is no fee involved.

If you can add "Power of Ten" to the Payable to line or the memo line on any checks, that will help.

Include a note to Leah indicating how this money was raised by your daughter for the DIS Unplugged Power of Ten Challenge.

My daughter did a similar thing when she ran the half marathon. Both of you should be very proud. Raising them right.

hehe.... I hear ya. I am sure you will find a way :)

Just wanted to say Hooray for parents and kids that "get it".

My daughter's birthday party was today and it was a huge success! We ended up making it a community event and had nearly 60 people come out and she raised more then $425!So proud of her and she felt really great doing it. she hadn't imagined it would go that well. And the best part is that we raised a lot of awareness about GKTW locally!
