In my area of the country we have Time/Warner cable. The On Demand videos/PPV now have a "Disney" section including Dumbo and Alice! Others such as Tarzan are also available. The thought, "Squeezing blood from a turnip" crossed my mind.

Blame Disney, they've been doing this for years. Anything over a year old is now a "Disney Classic".

I think the question is whether it makes sense for true classic Disney films to be marketed and distributed the same way everything else is. Certainly they made the effort for years to make them more ''exclusive", which increased their ability to profit over time.

I'm not saying its wrong. Its just a question.

Certainly the environment has changed, with VHS, DVD, PPV, OnDemand, movie downloads, etc. Disney no longer even releases the classics in theatres.

So maybe there's nothing bad about it. On the other hand, modern Disney has had a greater tendency to go for the short term profit over the long term, so that's why things like this raise questions.

I really do not understand the strategy they have in relation to the classics. What sets WDW apart from every other park in the world is that the theming revolves around classic movies, like Peter Pan, Dumbo, etc. Those movies go unseen unless you are brought up as a 'Disney kid.' The Disney Channel, which does have great, family friendly programming, could do a little better by bring back and showng classics liek Cinderella more often.
