I need to whine a bit. I worked early shifts all week, and was looking forward to a nice, relaxing Saturday morning. Sounds like heaven! So not going to happen.
One of my dogs, Emma, was acting a bit strange. I had just settled down to watch tv, and she came and jumped up on the bed and sat down right next to me. Emma never sits on the bed, she is more of a spawl all over the bed girl. So her sitting and staring at me was wierd. I got up to see if she needed out or what the problem was.
I get to the kitchen and there is a nice big smear of blood on the floor. I look over at my other dog, Murphy, and he has about a softball sized spot of blood on his side. He had scratched himself the other day, and now has apparently reopened and enlarged the wound. It is not bleed hard, just sort of seeping out. So while not a dire emergency, it does need to be seen to. Of course all the vets offices are closed.
So instead of sleeping in and getting up to read the paper and eventually shower, I have to hop out of bed and call the vet and beg to get in. And I know I am not going to sleep well because I will be worrying that Murphy will somehow make his wound worse overnight. It is a very small scrape, but now he has figured out that if he tries hard enough he can lick it. So there is a rather large spot of red on his white fur.
This night can't be over soon enough. I'm now hoping I can get in a good nap tomorrow.
