We'll be there in a week. But I'll definitely be packing hand sanitizer and wipes. The last thing we need is for someone to be sick. I feel sorry for everybody who has been suffering from it. :grouphug: We've obviously seen the stories here on Dis and they are on Trip Advisor too. I wonder if it is the flu or if we should be avoiding certain places to eat?

hmm, Disney is a safety and health freak. They do everything pretty standard.

very strict. they lecture their CMs for about 2 days straight of just health rules and such with test... :\

It's probably the stomach virus norovirus or norwalk. Just an FWI, alcohol based hand sanitizers are USELESS agains the stomach virus. You will be better off getting "wet ones" wipes from walmart/target etc. and wiping your family's hands w/ them after the rides and before you eat. Wash hands often, but that's not always possible at a theme park. Noro/norwalk is spread fecal oral route (grooooosssss!!!) So if someone who is infected (and they can be contagious for up to 2 WEEKS after their symptoms have passed) doesn't wash their hands properly after using the restroom, touches say...the railing in the line for BTMRR and you touch it and then touch your face BAM. That's how you get it.

Good luck! I worry about the same thing next year. Unfortunately it IS that time of year.

We carry wet ones and purell with us. We also wash our hands a lot throughout the day. But they are great for using before we eat. We were just at DL for a few days and we did not get sick at all.

Unfortunately it IS that time of year.

You mean the time of year when people don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom? Gosh, I thought that happened year-round. Regardless, just GROSS! So far, we have managed to steer clear of the nasty stomach bug that was supposedly around DLR last week. I caught a nasty cold, but that's much easier to handle than Cookie's Barfapalooza.

LOL!:lmao: No, that time of year for the stomach virus to run rampant, but of course it's everywhere ALL the time just during the winter months it seems to be worse.

Glad you only got a cold. That's what we brought home with us in February when we went. I'll take that over the barfapalooza too!

We used to get sick every time we stayed in a hotel (anywhere!) so whenever we first get into our room, I now take a few Clorox disinfecting wipes (you can buy a pack of 10 or 15 for $1 at the Target travel section) and wipe down all the door knobs inside and out, all the light switches, the entire phone, all of the remotes, toilet seat, sink faucets, etc. and then we yank off the bedspreads and try to avoid them as much as possible. Haven't come home sick yet! Hope that helps!

And ewwwww, hadn't heard of this poo virus!!

Haha...that is EXACTLY what I do!

Wow, is it really going around there that bad? My doctor has told me that the "time of the year" for these bugs is usually in the fall (Sept-early November) and again in the early Spring. So I'm kind of surprised to hear it being a problem now. Of course it goes around year round, depending on which virus it is too.

I catch this very easily, so it's a nightmare to hear of a lot of cases going around. I wish people would STAY home when they catch this (obviously you can't do that if your already on vacation, but otherwise yes!). I usually end up in the hospital I get so ill.
