My brain is so tired from trying to choose a kitchen sink and faucet. I'm replacing the countertop too, and that has been settled and on order. Now I'm stuck with the other choices. Stainless steel, sandstone, cast iron....I'm going nuts. I've been to Lowes and Home Depot and not impressed with what's on the shelves. I've been to one plumbing showroom. Very nice, but..
I found a good site, www.faucet.com that has alot more choices, and the prices are wide ranged. Has anyone recently been buying sinks and faucets? What has been yor experiencece?

DH & I once stood in Home Depot faucet aisle for an hour once.... I kid you not.

We finally looked at each other; started laughing hysterically; and realized if we couldn't pick out a simple kitchen faucet.....what would we do when we where ready to build our dream house! ? !

LOL ----- they make it SOOOOOOOO hard!
Good luck!

We redid our kitchen last spring. I chose a FrankeUSA granite grey sink. We love it. I have not scrubbed stains out of my sink for over a year. All I do is wash it out with hot soapy water. We put in a brushed nickel faucet, simple design. We are very happy with the choices. The sink was about $200. and the faucet under $100.

We put a pull out spray fixture in our new laundry room sink and I am not impressed with it. It tends to splatter too much and you sometimes have to feed the hose back down into the fixture because it tangles easily. The sink is open below so nothing gets in the way. We just put in an inexpensive stainless steel sink in laundry room and I am really glad I didn't go with stainless in the kitchen.

My pet peeve is the coffee stains. DH and DS's (teens) all make coffee and tea and don't rinse stuff down the sink. I used to have constant stains that drove me crazy. Not now!

Hmmm, RNMOM, you've given me another thought. I like the sound of your granite sink. Where did you find it? Does it come in other colors? I thought I wanted a pull out spray too, but after looking at them I changed my mind. They look awful big and bulky.

cassie, I feel your pain! My Dad, brothers, Uncle and cousins are ALL plumbers and, when they hear that one of the 'ladies' wants/needs something new, they just cringe! The possibilites are endless and, can run mega-bucks!

My Mom does have a dual faucet tho. It's a side-to-side movable faucet that doubles as a spray, with the extendable 'cord'. It's ok imo but, I have such primitive kitchen sink equipment that, ANYthing seems nice, to me! :(

Good Luck deciding!

THe sinks and faucets in stock at HD are not what you want to look at. Go back in the area where they sell cabinets etc, and look in the books at kohler etc. I did all my shopping for items like this on line, and then went and ordered it at Home Depot and got a great discount.

Go to some model homes and take a look around. I'm sure you'll find something you like, then ask them about what kind it is, where to buy, etc. Good luck!

Yes! Kohler has sinks AND faucets with Mickey on them! They are bathroom ones though. I love the one called Mickey's dream. It is a dark blue vessle type sink with embossed Mickey ears.

We just did our kitchen over this year. My one requirement for my sink... well actually, three requirements... were that it be stainless steel, undermounted, and 10 inches deep on one side. I found an Elkay at our local plumbing supply store. I put the deep side on the right and the 7.5 inch side on the left. The Insinkerator is on the left side, too. We found a nice arched, brushed nickel faucet and I made sure I got an undermounted counter soap dispenser and a separate sprayer, also in brushed nickel. The faucet was made by Kohler.

I second the comment about not buying off the shelf in Home Depot or Lowes. If you can afford it, buy a better brand name. You're not going to do your kitchen over again for a long time. You may as well get what you want since the amount you spend, amortized over time, will not be much.

DH and I are going through the same thing. We have decided on the granite, but in order to get the color (champagne) we want we have to special order it for an extra $70.00....I am holding off right now. We have not decided on the faucet yet, but I do know the general design that I want.

For some reason I keep looking at this one in stainless

Any thoughts?

Great --- did you see what the tag fairies did to me because of this thread? LOL

That's what I get for asking.

Any thoughts?

Only that you obviously like different styles! It's so hard to pick out these things. I can't imagine doing a whole house.

Back to your two faucets....seriously, decide on a "look" that you want the kitchen to have...modern, "old-fashioned" but with modern fixtures, country, whatever and then pick everything with the same feel.

Since I like things that are unique to my house... I'd go with the first one. You aren't apt to go into someone else's house and find the same faucet. Both are very pretty, but the first one "pops."

We remodeled our kitchen last year. We chose a swanstone sink. I love the colors they come in, and I chose one with an extra deep bowl on one side.
I did get a pfrice pfister faucet at homedepot. It works fine for me. The main feature for a faucet for me is to be able to control the hot and cold water from one lever!
