My bf and I camped last year 10/23-10/29 in a 1980's Hillary tent - Very Heavy canvas, metal poles. It was great not to have to buy a tent but, to camp in FW we need something a bit lighter, and larger.

Our needs are:
*Fit queen size mattress on a platform (Example)
*fit bins of clothes + small stand for laptop
*Have screened area to dress/keep shoes/etc
*Be well ventilated - we roasted in the Hillary last year.

We are now trying to decide between the following tents:

Coleman Weathermaster 10 person @ Costco for $160

Coleman Instant Tent (easy set up, mid price, but possible poor ventilation)

Eureka Copper Canyon 1312 (the most expensive - but good reviews)

So what does everyone think? I am camping again this year 9/28-10/7 in FW, and I welcome any experiences, suggestions or tips! Thanks!

(sorry for long links, the posting wouldn't accept tiny url links. it turns them into all asterisks.) :sad2:

what do you like about them? Do they have the same features as the other brands? I've never heard of them before.

My honest opinion is if you buy a tent get any type of dome tent with a fly on top of it. To me dome tents hold up better repel water better and seem easier to set up. And what I have seen in wind they hold their shape better.

We have a travel trailer, but use tents for Boy/Cub Scout camping events. We have a Coleman tent & a Eureka. The Eureka is our favorite. The quality is fantastic. It's a little 3 man tent but it can take a beating. It's been through a few good storms (heavy rain, lightning & wind) and it held up a whole lot bette than most of tents around us. The Eureka cost a bit more than some of the others, but in our experience it was well worth the extra cost.

Good ventilation, polyethelene floor, well made and haven't had a problem with the Mt Greylock that I purchased, also a median price for the quality you get.

I looked at the Eureka, but didn't like the floor was thin and made out of the same material as the walls. I also looked at the Coleman Instant Tent and liked it, but no fly, and lack of roof ventilation was a deal breaker for me.

Best Regards,
Norm

We have a Eureka Copper Canyon. It is a nice tent. We get it out when our daughter wants to bring her friends along on a camping trip. I bought it on Amazon.
