So I was thinking of buying the IPAD at Target or Walmart because these tend to show up as grocery stores which I think qualify for the 5% bonus with the new Disney Visa. Does anyone see a flaw in this idea?

Not if it works! I'm guessing it may be a while before the new iPad is available at these stores, at least in very large quantities, because of shortages. This is what happened when the iPad 2 was released. It took several months to be reliably in stock.

Why not buy it with a target debit card and get 5% off right away and skip the Disney visa (or target credit card). The debt is super easy to sign up for and you get 5% off all target purchases!

Do the grocery stores sell apple giftcards? If so, I would go that route and then buy straight from Apple.

I have always found the opposite to be true. Even if I'm buying all my groceries at Wal Mart, Target, etc., they don't come up as grocery stores.

If your state tax is more than 5%, I would order from Amazon.com instead. No sales tax. Free shipping. Buy Amazon GCs at the grocery store if you want the 5% bonus.

Amazon has to collect sales tax on orders from my state (NY) so the "no sales tax" isn't always true.

One Walmart shows up as a grocery store (it has groceries) and one doesn't (it does not have a full grocery store) on my Disney Visa.

Yep. Wish that the people in states that don't yet have to pay salestax through amazon would realize that there are some states that do!
Well, then heck! Forget that I even suggested it!

For those of us who don't have to pay sales tax on internet purchases (unless the company has a B&M store in the state), all I can say is :woohoo:

I wish people wouldn't dismiss an idea just because they can't use it.

How did I dismiss it? I just warned people that Amazon has to collect sales tax in some states, so they should check. I don't feel that I dismissed your point, just pointing out that that isn't a factor for some of us.

I'm pretty sure virtually every state requires you to send in the sales tax directly to the state at the end of the year for purchases made out of state or over the internet...

Government has NOTHING so they always have their hand out trying to steal every penny from us that they can. Thieves, at this point that is the only way to describe government when it comes to taxation.

In any event, ordering on line has many benefits that should be weighted against possible local promotions.

I was about to buy an android tablet... now I've been given pause by the ipad2 price drop... of course apple always sticks it to us because the ipads/touch don't accept SD cards.

I can't stand that. I got a Samsung Galaxy S2 over the iphone4 because of the SD card issue. I'm sick and tired of being forced into their scheme.

I don't think I can bring myself to buy an ipad, the continuous slap in the face over things like SD cards is just too much IMO.
