So I am looking over my packing list for January...

seeing what I have and what I still need to buy and it hits me. If I take everything on my list (which I compiled from lists given here on the boards), I will have to rent another room just for all the stuff. I think I have the mega of all packing lists I don't know if anyone else is like me but I am an overpacker and with this list I can see me now driving down the highway with at least 10 suitcases trailing behind. Oh and just where will my husband sit????

So what are the essentials I should bring for our Jan 09 trip? Here's some info:

It will be DH, DD, DSIl, 21 mo old DGS and I. The five of us will be in two rooms and visted WDW for 8 days and 7 nights thern DH and I are taking our DGS to visit relatives & family around Florida for an additonal 5 nights and 6 days before heading back to NC. My list incorporates what we need to bring for everyone on our trip. I have it seperated into categories. Did I mention I am an organizational nut too

DD and DSIL are terrible packers. They go by the approach of less is more then usually end up needed something. On the other hand I'm the one who packs everything but the kitchen sink and ends up using only half of what I bring. So is there a nice in between list. Not too much but just enough?

Any help at all would be happily appreciated.

LOL HUGS on the packing. I have that problem too sometimes. The way I solve it is the first thing I decide is, which bags are going? Once I have the luggage narrowed down, I know the max amount of space to fit. Then I just keep wheedling things down until it all fits.... or someone buys me bigger bags!
Also, clothes is my biggest issue. So if it's a long trip I have to think about whether I'm doing laundry while there, and how often that will be. That usually narrows down the amount of outfits I need...hopefully.

I don't know how to tell you what's essential for a group like that. I'm just glad someone else going in '09 is thinking about what to pack LOL I have a little bag from the Disney store beside my dresser where I collect odds and ends that i'm "saving up" to use for the first time on vacation. (new Disney shirts, Bath and Body Works whatnot, etc).

Don't know about what to bring for your little ones but this is what we brought when we were at WDW last January:

2 pairs jeans, 1 pair shorts, 3 short sleeve tshirts, 2 long sleeve tshirts, 1 light jacket, 1 fleece vest, gloves, socks, underwear, etc. 1 pair flipflops and suit for pool. Cosmetics and medicine. They have blow dryers in the rooms.

Now as you can tell, I am a less is more kind of person. I rarely can't live without what I didn't bring if I forgot something. In the parks I carry my wallet with a little money in my back pocket, chapstick, glasses on chums (both sun and regular to switch off) and a hat that I hang from a beltloop on rides with the velcro.

Hopefully you can do laundry on your family visit. You may want to do laundry at the hotel.
