So I almost bought a Dell Laptop on QVC last night - now I'm kicking myself for not!

I have been wanting a laptop badly because my desktop is a dinosaur, and I have been carfefully watching for sales. I wanted to try something non-Dell since that's what I have now and I'm willing to experiment.

But - flipping through the channels I see QVC is having a Dell Sale! And the deal of the dey was a seemingly AWESOME deal: large screen; lots of memory, LOTS of extra useful software, 3 years of Mcafee, free shipping AND it was almost half of the retail price at $699. GULP! But...it was literally 20 minutes before midnight & the sale would end, and it would have been a total "impulse buy". I'm trying hard NOT to impulse buy. But now I'm afraid I made a mistake. :confused3

Oh, and I could've had it in Red - my favorite color. Okay, now I'm upset!:sad2:

Dell is always having sales on their computers. Go over to one of the deals websites (fatwallet, slickdeals, etc). They usually have coupon codes to use that will get you a discount and free shipping.

Just a tip for buying on QVC. If any color is in advanced order, you can always order that one and won't owe anything until it ships. That way, if you change your mind, you have a few days or weeks to decide and cancel. That said, it was a good deal, but QVC has a good Dell sale every few months.

I wouldn't kick yourself about it. When we were looking for a laptop for my college-bound DS, I checked out both the Dell and HP TSVs they were having about that time -- looking online at both the Dell and HP sites, I could find better values on my own than going through QVC. QVC may offer some extras you won't be able to get elsewhere, but not enough to really make a difference.

The QVC deals aren't always the best. They usually offer a bunch of garbage that people don't really need. My boyfriend advanced ordered a laptop from them two years ago. In the meanwhile we were on a trip to a bigger city that had a Best Buy. They had a laptop that was far, far, far superior to the one at QVC bundled with a Wii for $300 less than the QVC computer. We bought it and cancelled the QVC order!

My suggestion would be to watch at http://www.dealcatcher.com/search/laptop and wait for a good deal to come up. You can buy a Square Trade warranty for less than $100 too.

I saw a great deal on QVC but when I priced it out online it was cheaper.

call dell directly and tell them you saw the QVC offer. They will go through all of the features and see which ones you need and which ones you don't. Dell told me that the QVC sales aren't always the best. The price and the shipping came out cheaper!

don't worry about missing easy pay...Dell has financing if you want it and it is 6 months 0%.

I did this years ago on a desktop. I have since bought 2 dell studio 17 laptops and I love them!

Costco has some deals like this and a 2 year warranty

www.gotapex.com

laptopmag.com and look for deals notebooks.

These have some great deals.

I would look for an i3 or i5 processor. Unless you are going below 500 and then you need to be more flexable...

Whenever someone tells me that they bought a computer on QVC I try to keep a strait face. I've seen the ads they do and really I've never seen a deal that made me say WOW. Most of the time they are really well over priced and some are even outdated. Keep shopping around and pat yourself on the back for not grabbing the phone right away. :thumbsup2

Check Sams. Hubby bought me a pink Dell laptop for Valentines Day. He got it a BestBuy. Didn't have the heart to tell him that when I was on the Sams website yesterday I saw a pink Dell for $200 less than he paid. The one at Sams might be pretty basic but all I do is surf and shop so it would have been fine for me.

Decide what you want and go to delloutlet.com

The inventory changes every morning and constantly updates. Know exactly the specs you're looking for and be patient. You'll be surprised at the price you'll get.

The outlet systems are fully checked and tested. They have the full warranty that a "new" one will have. You can extend the warranty too. You won't be able to make changes, ie: add RAM, upgrade software, etc. But you'll get a great system for a BIG discount.

I bought a couple dozen of them for my husband's system. We were always very pleased with them.
