...... My DH and two DS decided they don't like Hot Cross Buns because of the cinammon taste :( I didn't see any point in buying any so I haven't had one! ( Cue violins) The nearest I could get to it was toasted teacakes!
Did anyone buy or make a Simnel cake? I have made one or two in past years but haven't bothered since.

Well I had a couple of hot X buns but no chocolate eggs - aren't I good?! Although you should have seen how much butter I put in me buns :p

I was quite good and only had 1 Hot Cross Bun on Good Friday :)

I didn't have any Easter Eggs at all, so I didnt have to resist temptation :)

I haven't made a Simmel Cake before, or tasted one. Are they marzipanny?

We have a couple of Easter Eggs on the shelf for my nieces - I hope I can get them to them pretty quick otherwise Katie might not be able to resist! ;)

Loads of hot cross buns - Tesco kept doing the buy 12 for the price of 8 deal

Well, we all love them in our family - especially toasted with butter and jam!!

Only half a choccie egg tho (one that Shaun won at a quiz night!)

LOL Alison :) We also won a couple of Easter eggs at a quiz night - they were spot prizes! Since it was the theme was films and Oscars, they were Monster Inc eggs!
Yes Janice, simnel cakes do have marzipan on them - I think that puts a lot of people off.

A silly question - How long is Easter candy available at the stores?

My sister says that on past trips in May, she and my Dad have loaded up on Easter candy that was on sale. I think that by the time we arrive in the UK all the Easter candy will have been sold or given away!!! (mid-May arrival).

I think most of the Easter candy is off the shelves by now in the US.

Thanks! :)

Hi TigH

I recall as a child (a looooong time ago now!) LoL - there used to be Easter Eggs reduced for quick sale for quite a while after Easter was over - but these days shops and stores seem to have stricter controls over their stock levels. You may find little local corner stores have some left over and reduced in price, but I really doubt if you would find anything this year in Mid May being as the Easter Holiday was so early in the year :)

You'll just have to fill up on Cadbury's :D :D :D :D Yummy!

Well I hadn't eaten any hot cross buns but now I've read THIS THREAD I am having a major craving- I'm going to get some at lunchtime!
TigH- I agree with Janice you will be lucky to find many Easter Eggs even now- I went shopping for mine on Saturday (a bit late I know!) and even the big shops like Tesco and Woolworths had almost sold out.

Obviously too many since I've put on a few pounds :o

The kids aren't eating their eggs so I've been doing it for them :p

We now have about 8 eggs left plus the sweets and I'm going to sum up all my willpower to chuck 'em in the bin tonight otherwise there will be a few more pounds being added by the end of the week.

Anyway, they're not good for the kids teeth are they????!!!!!

Looking forward to the egg chucking ceremony.

Lisa
