So, how long does it take to do a fine dining restaurant dinner reservation?

Please consider the time before you actually get seated at your table (check-in), the time for a waiter to take your order, the time waiting for your meal, your eating time once you are served, and the time getting your check and paying for your meal.

I'm thinking it averages around 90 minutes. Obviously, some restaurants may be a little shorter or a little longer in time depending on how popular the restaurant is.

Do you think it's faster to do lunch than dinner?

So, what do you think?

At the signature dining restaurants, I'd figure closer to 2 hours.

I think there are a lot of factors that influence this. Including how many in your party & how you like to dine. We eat at several signature restaurants every trip & are usually a party of 2. We don‘t drink, so there is no perusing a wine menu & no after dinner cocktails. We do order appetizers or salads & entrees, with an occasional dessert. We also don’t stay for coffee after dinner. I don’t think it has ever taken us 2 hours for any meal.

We regularly go to Yachtsman’; Narcoossee’s; Shula’s, BOG & Hollywood Brown Derby. We have been to California Grill & Cinderella’s Royal Table, but they’re not on our regular list. We just ate at CG last Friday as a party of 4 & it still was about an hour & 1/2. We also ate at Topolino’s Sunday for the first time & again, just under 90 minutes.

Most of the signatures we go to aren’t open for lunch. The ones that are open at lunch are in the parks. Depending on seating, it can take only about an hour, especially if your adr is when they first open. If it’s later & the restaurant gets behind, 90 minutes will be more accurate.

We haven't ever spent 2 hours at any restaurant at Disney, signature or other. It is just DH and I and we also do not drink alcohol or coffee, but we do apps, entrees and desserts. Jiko, Cali Grill...both about an hour and that's with "lingering'.

I find that if we check in fifteen minutes early, we are seated on time. only once at Tusker House did we have to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation time. Many times we were seated within five minutes of arrival. We know what we want to order as we have looked at the menus before we arrive. I have never been seated for over an hour before we were presented with the bill. Even at signature restaurants. I feel like they are wanting to open up tables as quickly as possible, Now with the new mask rules, I don't think lingering is encouraged.

I think it greatly varies based on you as well. Do you like to enjoy an adult beverage while you look at the menu. Do you order appetizers before you order your meal or do you order everything at once. Do you order dessert? Do you like to have coffee at the end of your meal? I think that you can also set the tone on the pace of your meal. I prefer to have a much slower pace if I am doing a later evening signature dinner as I am usually just going back to my resort room and calling it a night. I have spent over 2 hours at dinner at Jiko. I have done under an hour at lunch at Brown Derby, but that would have just been a Margarita and a Cobb Salad.

Many variables.
Are you having drinks, multiple courses, dessert?
We find at signature restaurants, we plan 90 minutes to 2 hours. Some we have been longer.
We do see other tables around us leaving sooner, but we enjoy a leisurely evening meal.
Lunch is often shorter.

Just my opinion but unless you are vaccinated do you want to be spending a long time inside dining.

Of course, I'll admit I am a bit paranoid now with the new variants going around. :(
