Over the years I've gone from "eating everything I want" to "I just had a baby 4 years ago & haven't lost all the weight yet!" It time I move out of the denial phase & stop "weighting" for it to automatically fall off one morning.

My friends (about 15 of us) have formed our own weight loss group, but are really struggling without a firm plan. in the 3 months since we've started I have only managed to drop 5 lbs. I must admit, I didn't try as hard as I should. Still looking in the mirror to see if it would magically vanish.

Tomorrow I am attending my first orientation at the YMCA & really looking forward to it. I thought this would be a great place to come for support. Is there anything I need to do to make it official? :teeth:

my first thought is it may be difficult to find a plan that works for 15 different people! reading journals here is a great way to get a feel for the different plans and then I say Go for it! just jump in a try one. it's ok if you end up trying 2 or three before you find the right one for you. And there is always basic calorie counting and exercise if you choose to keep it simple.

I would recommend getting Dr. Phil's Weight Loss book from your library as a place to start. I listen to it on CD in my van ALOT and it is very real, down to earth, and makes a whole lot of sense to me. I need a little more structure though so I also follow the Weight Watcher (WW) counting points plan, just on my own though. There are several of us on the board that don't attend official meetings, but use WISH for the accountability.

for some reason clip-art is a GREAT motivator! there are usually friendly challenges ongoing and feel free to jump in a join them anytime! there is usually a 'loss 5 for the month of _________" a monthly exercise challenge, a cheat-free challenge, etc -- or start one if you have a new one come to mind!
