I'm trying to decide on the dining plan. But then, I was reading a trip report and the person commented on how bad the lines where for counter service and recommended all sitdown for lunch. Is it that bad? Since we have 3 hour time difference we don't always eat at the normal times. So we might have lunch later than most.

We were there 12/25-29 and had varying experiences, but SO glad we had plenty of ADRs. On Christmas day around 1:30 the CS at POFQ was a breeze. On the 26th at around 2:00 we wanted lunch (later than usual!), we were turned away from 2 CS restaurants in the Magic Kingdom and ended up grabbing ice cream to tide us over to our 5:00 ADR at Tony's. At Epcot on the 27th we had ADRs for lunch and dinner so we didn't have to wait in them but the lines in World Showcase looked really long later in the afternoon. The 28th we ate at Earl of Sandwich in DTD and the line wasn't too long but the place was a zoo and we had to stand around with our food for about 10 minutes before a table opened up. We had a late dinner ADR at Spoodles that night. Then on the 29th we had an ADR at Sci-Fi at MGM and left by 2:00, but it was just starting to get busy as we left.

So... I would make plenty of ADRs, but if you want to go CS for lunch go EARLY. I couldn't tell you for dinner since we never tried to do that. Breakfast at POFQ wasn't too long of a wait either.

We were there the weekend before Xmas (an entire week before the holiday) and the lines were unbelieveable at MGM at like 2:30. It was ridiculous. I bet it would have been an hr or so wait for counter service at most places-the place we tried had 20-25 people deep with EVERY line open!

We gave up after standing for 10 minutes with the line not moving at all and just got soft pretzels at a snack place. I'd always have a sitdown ADR from now on if we go during an even "semi" busy time of the year. I had wished we brought a sandwich that day as it was the only day I wanted to "wing it"--won't do that again!

We were there from 12/23 to 1/1/06 and it was scarey :scared: We only ate at one CS in the parks and that was because we missed our ADR. It was in Epcott and we could barely walk around the world showcase. The only place it wouldnt take a years wait was the American liberty place. We had hamburgers, imagine that! :rotfl2:

:wizard: Make sure that you have ADR's well in advance for the week. For counter service, the lines did move quickly, maybe 10 minutes at the most, but the important part is to make sure that someone in your party is circling the area for seats the whole time or your food will be ice cold before you can eat!!!

We were in WDW from the 15th to the 29th December last year and didn't have to wait in line once for counter service :)

We tended to skip breakfast and then have an early lunch, (between 10:30 and 11am).
