Well after being a pop-up family for two years we decided we are definitely 'good' campers and we would get use out of it so we bought a 5th wheel last week!

We had been thinking about doing it for some time, but after going to our local RV show at the fairgrounds we found a great deal on a reasonably priced 5th wheel!!!

We got a rockwood signature ultralite, and I just can't even begin to express how excited we are! We have a bathroom!!! A couch! A recliner! A little fireplace!! TV! :rotfl:YAYAYAY! What will we do with all that space??? :woohoo:

Now instead of just going on four or five day trips with our three kiddos we can actually take a full fledged CAMPING VACATION!!!

We are going to WDW to POFQ in March, but had I known we were going to buy this we could have done it at the Ft Wilderness instead! I'm sure it's probably all booked up for march, but maybe we could squeeze in a trip there this fall.

Anyway, we go to the RV dealer to pick it up this week. We had to special order one more feature for it and they are waiting for rockwood to send it to them and install it. I almost feel guilty because this seems like so much luxury...is it really even camping anymore??? :rotfl:

My husband is also super excited because getting a fifth wheel meant he could actually justify getting that F250 diesel monster he has wanted for years and years! I was super surprised to at how much we got as a trade in for our pop up. We only got five hundred less for it than we paid for it brand new two years ago! Those babies really hold their value!!

Just had to share my excitement. Can't wait to experience Ft. Wilderness really soon!!!

You have violated a rule of camping. You have bypassed the usual steps of purchasing a hybrid, then a hardside, then a 5er. Your punishment is to host a Kungaloosh gathering at FW.

HOW EXCITING! You will love not having to set up anything more than your decorations. lol just think, now on your trips down to the fort you can stop and go in the camper and make sandwiches.... isn't that what everyone does?

Yeah, I think about all the money I save making my own sandwiches instead of buying lunch and it almost pays for the trailer. Just 85 more years and I break even.

hahaha! I know we totally skipped the usual steps!!! We thought about getting a hybrid but then we can't go to some of the national parks out west!

Sure we will host a kingaloosh....whatever that is!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

And my husband has already been talking up the sandwich making thing....hehe

Congratulations on the new fiver!! :cheer2:

Now, first thing tomorrow morning call 407-WDISNEY and check on Fort availability for March. If you snag a site, cancel that POFQ ressie and your journey to the dark side will be complete.

After doing that, Google the instructions for making kungaloosh and get going with planning your first Fort trip!

Congrats. I would check into a site for this spring. We switched from ASmusic last fall fairly close to when we came and save a lot of $$. It may be worth it plus youll be in the new 5er.:cool1:

1/4 cup Capt Morgan's spiced rum
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup raspberry brandy or liquer
1/4 cup strawberry daiquiri mix

put in a blender with enough ice to make slushy.

I know what you mean! We bought a TT in March 08 and actually rec'd 900 more in trade in value than we paid for it, and they promptly put it up for sale on their website for $2,000 more than the original sales price in 2003!

You will love having all that room, especially on the days when you are stuck inside cuz of weather. I STILL have yet to fill ALL the storage areas.

One thing you'll find is your choice in campsites will change, you'll find you are much more restricted on sites where you can fit. We used to turn our noses up at parking-lot type campgrounds, but I'm not opposed to staying in them for stopovers now, LOL

Enjoy! Try to get in the fort - we stayed over Thanksgiving and it's a wonderful experience....

Congratulations on the new camper! I would check FW availability for your upcoming trip. You will have so much more space than you would at PO. We also have 3 kids and thats why we bought a popup in the first place - most hotel rooms are really crowded for us. Now we feel like we are outgrowing the popup, and the kids are only getting bigger! We are looking for a hardside (skipping the hybrid, tired of drying out the canvas). I hope we are as successful in our search as you were! Have fun camping!

When we first started camping at the fort we had a popup camper with a very small all purpose restroom/shower and 3 kids. By the time the 4th child arrived we converted to an Outback bunkhouse TT. When we sold our popup we broke even after 4 yrs of use and it was used when we bought it !!! A couple of yrs ago we went to a class A. I have to say that I loved the Outback more than the class A. I only had to make one bed a day in it. In the class A I have to take down and make 3 everyday. But traveling in the MH is better than pulling the TT plus the MH has more storage. So each has its pros and cons.

Enjoy your new 5th wheel and the memories with the kids !!!!

Okay, I'm happy for ya'll,, kinda like the Clampetts mov'n from the holler to the city, :rotfl:
But I'm here to tell ya, it ain't "full fledged CAMPING VACATION in luxury" til you put them NEW FISH'N POLES in the storage area of your new 5'er,:thumbsup2

Happy Trails to ya'll !:woohoo:

and look'n forward to that Kungaloosh gathering.
