So after decades of tent camping and several years of searching and general procrastination, we bought this today!

I already had reservations for the Fort for July, my DD and I were coming in a tent... but now we will come in this! :)

We are big campers, spend a week in the Smokies every summer. I am so excited to get up off the ground.

I haven't been to Fort Wilderness since I was a girl in the 70s. I'm really looking forward to this trip!

Very nice... getting spoiled... love it, have a great time in your new camper(castle):thumbsup2

Great! Hope you enjoy it for years to come! Where do you stay in the Smoky Mtn's when you go?

I'm interested in this as well. We just bought a new camper this year and usually go to the mountains in the winter for Christmas. Congrats on the new toy!

Thanks!! :)

We usually camp in Elkmont campground. It is my favorite place in the world. I have camped at Elkmont at least one week out of the summer and several weekends a year since I was a very small child. Our extended family goes now and we usually take up 4-5 spots. I camped with my Dad first in tents, and then he got popups. He still comes with us at nearly 70!

Elkmont is great, it is dry camping though with no hookups. There is a dump station several miles down the road near Sugarlands visitors center. You can run generators in about half the campground.

She's a beaut!!:thumbsup2

Well congratulations from a fellow pop-up owner. :thumbsup2

A couple questions:

Whereabouts do you live (what state so how far to tow to the Fort?)

Does your pup have a/c?

Looks like a highwall pop up is that right? I have a HW and love the taller cabinets and such inside.

I wish I had awning poles that attached to the camper rather than stand on the ground. Speaking of awnings, since you'll be at the Fort during the summer rainy season make sure you slant the awning to shed the water. I had an awning puddle up at the Fort and the canvas tore under the weight of the water.

Have fun!

Ed, I'm from the Nashville area, about 600 miles. We will probably bust up the trip and find a place to stop south of Atlanta on the way down. I may also come down through Birmingham and cut over. Haven't decided yet.

Yes, my PUP has A/C. It is a highwall, I love it. The rigs we had growing up were not and I hated swinging down the galley and folding everything down, this makes it so much easier to collapse everything. We'll be doing a couple of short weekends to shake everything out before heading down.

It will add about 100 Miles give or take to go down thru Alabama. Plus some sections of the drive will not be Interstate. I am in the Manchester Area and usually go I24 / I75 I always use the HOV lane thru Atlanta. No lane changes at all! However with that said I am dropping off my wife at Huntsvile Airport and plan on driving down thru Alabama just for a change. Will come back up I75.

Congratulations!! We have upgraded from pop-up to travel trailer to 5th wheel recently. My family and I live near the Smokies (in Maryville, TN) we usually camp in Townsend to take advantage of full hook-ups. We are planning our first trip to Fort Wilderness in October.

Your gonna have a blast in October or any other month :cool1:

We go to your area about 5 or 6 times a year. usually have Dolllywood Passes.

We get Dollywood passes too. This year we are upgrading to SuperPasses so we can do Splash Country too!!! If we plan a Pigeon Forge stay we like Twin Mountain RV park.

Awesome for sure!! I love seeing all the excitement on this thread about the Fort and when people get new set ups!! Have a great time and I am sure you will have one Magical trip!!

Congratulations. Love the highlanders. This will be our first camper trip to the fort also. We have camped at the fort but we were also tent campers for many years. You will love it. Have fun.
