We are going down to California for a wedding over Labour Day weekend. Hotel is booked in Diamond Bar (where the wedding is) and the brides family is arranging for tix to DL as many friends and relatives are from out of town and have never been. We have been trying to figure out how to fly down there, whether to leave from Victoria (super$$$), Vancouver ( little less$$), Bellingham or Seattle. First glance seemed that Bellingham would be cheapest, but flight times were awful. Living on Vancouver Island means taking a boat Clipper to Seattle was 260 plus hotel. BC Ferrie with car was 180 return plus parking and hotel then we were also restricted due to work schedules. Air Canada out of Vancouver ended up being cheapest as we don't need a car, flight times we great, and with the summer ferry schedule there are many sailings daily. I got rt flights for $355 taxes included.
I am sure there were cheaper ways to do it without our restrictions on haveing to be back at work, and living on the island. I just can't belive flying out of Vancouver was cheaper than Seattle or Bellingham for our dates! It feels more REAL now that the plane tickets are bought!
