So Cal AP question

Since I am now a So. Cal resident ( ), I was just wondering something. Can you buy a So. Cal AP on a block out day and use it that day?? I have a Premier Passport, but I was wondering for my friends.

Or can you buy a 1 day ticket on a block out day and then upgrade to the payment plan later that day?

DH's SoCal Select AP was in the renewal period. On a blockout day, we renewed and upgraded his pass to a SoCal AP. We did this at the ticket booth outside the Park. We told her he was going to go into the Park on that day and asked about a Blockout Day ticket. She said that since we renewed on that day he was able to go into the Park and printed him a Blocked Exception Pass. When presented at the turnstyle, along with his AP, his AP was activated for the day.

I believe this is the policy whether it's a new AP or a renewal, but I am NOT certain.

There was a discussion about this in April right before we went on our trip because someone's friends were told at the AP processing center that they could not do this. We had planned to upgrade our GAD vouchers to SoCal APs on a blockout day in May, so I was quite concerned.

I made sure to ask at every stage of the process and was told over and over - that absolutely if you get an AP on a block out day you can use it that day. In fact, the CM at the main ticket booth said "How else will you get into the processing center if we didn't let you use it?"

If you upgrade from a one day ticket, make sure when you go to the processing center that you remind them to give you the blockout pass. The CM initially didn't give it to us, so when I asked about being able to park hop, she said, Oh that's right, it's a block out day for this pass, and gave me the blockout pass. When we did park hop and I went to show the gate CM the blockout pass, he laughed and said he didn't even need to see it, he could see from the date on my AP that I just got it that day. (I would still have the pass to show, just mean that all the CMs we encountered were aware of the policy.)

I don't know anything about the payment plan, but don't see why it would be any different....
