So about this Hurricane - 10/7 Dream cancelled, 10/7 Magic Canadian, 10/8 now 10/9 Fantasy 6-night

Okay so I am a little frustrated that Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean have ALL announced itinerary changes for their cruises next week but Disney has not. (All of these are basically doing Cozumel/Costa Maya instead.) Most frustrating to me is that Enchantment of the Seas was basically doing the same itinerary as the Dream- leave Monday- Nassau, private island, sea- back Friday, has been rescheduled.
To me (especially as a former CM) it would seem more Disney to lead this pack rather than to follow. Also, given the size of the Dream I would think they would want another plan quickly to ensure they were able to get dock space/shore excursions. The track and forecast of this hurricane hasn't changed (significantly) in the past three days. I can't imagine making it to anywhere in the Bahamas and then getting out of the way of the storm before hitting rough seas (although I would probably give anything to go to CC).
I fully understand they can't control the weather and I choose to travel in hurricane season, but they do control how they react to it- more communication would be better than what appears to be a "oh well/wait and see" attitude.
Still can't wait to get on the ship, just sad about the actions of a company I love!

I understand your frustration, but the dream cannot go to cozumel and back on a four day cruise from port canaveral like the enchantment. It's too far there and back. and she is too big to go to key west as well.
Also you may see some more itinerary changes by the others before they sail on monday, and if you booked your own shore excursions based on the predicted itinerary as they are now what if they change again?

The Dream IS going to Cozumel on tomorrow's sailing with one day at sea before and after. Disney Cruise Line is letting people know this morning.

Tropical Weather Update
October 2, 2016

Disney Cruise Line is monitoring the weather conditions and predicted path of Hurricane Matthew closely.

The October 2, 2016, Disney Magic sailing itinerary remains unchanged.

The October 3, 2016, Disney Dream sailing will now sail to the western Caribbean and feature a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. The revised itinerary is below:
    • October 3 – Port Canaveral
    • October 4 – Day at Sea
    • October 5 – Cozumel, Mexico
    • October 6 – Day at Sea
    • October 7 – Port Canaveral Florida
While it’s still too early to tell if any future itineraries will need to be adjusted due to Hurricane Matthew, we are always prepared to visit alternate ports or spend days at sea to ensure the safety and comfort of our Guests. We will continue to provide updates as they are available.

So sad we are not going to castaway cay. When will we be able to book new shore excursions? Not till we are on the ship? I know where my first stop after check in will be now.....

We're on the Dream tomorrow as well. Our second cruise. Bummed about CC. I was looking forward to the beach.

Would passports be required for Cozumel? I know some people don't bother with them, so it might be something to think about.

No passports required since it is a closed loop cruise (departs and returns to the same US port).

But don't you need the passport to get off in Cozumel? Isn't that in Mexico? I guess I assumed one would go through customs to get off the boat at any port that wasn't the same as the originating port.

I guess it's fortunate that the Dream had a 4-night departure on Monday, giving it enough time to get to Cozumel and back. Any speculation as to what they would have done given the same situation, but had the Oct 3 sailing been for only 3 nights?

It looks like the Dream will just make it back on Friday morning. Reports in South Florida have the hurricane slowing down and just off the coast on Thursday. Seas might be a little rough!

I hope you all have a wonderful cruise! Regardless of itinerary, you're on a cruise! Enjoy the incredible ship! The extra "At Sea" day should be wonderful! I'd find a big padded deck chair for a couple of hours one day and just watch the ocean go by! (Of course if you have my big extended balcony room, just enjoy THAT! I'm in 5150 on the Dream for the Christmas cruise!)

Will be thinking about you all!!!!! Stay safe, and stay away from the edge of the decks! LOL

Just reported at 11 pm that the hurricane should hit the central shoreline of Fl. on Wed with 110 mph winds. So much for a sale away party on the deck that day. So pack plenty of Dramamine and ginger capsules. Its going to be a wild ride.

The hurricane center's forecast has it closest to Port Canaveral on Friday and it's been trending closer, it may make it interesting coming back in. If trends too much closer I don't think ships will be able to go into port Canaveral on Friday.

I sail out on the Fantasy on Saturday the 8th for a 7 night cruise...I wonder if they will need to change anything at the Port.

If it is too windy the ships can not dock and the winds will be 105 mph on Friday. What they would do in that case is dock in a different part of the state and bus you back to the port. They have docked in Miami before and bused people back.

Repsefully, but at five days out they do not know where the storm will be or what the wind speed will be any particular location. They are making very well educated guesses with computer generated models, but the storm has also been stalling and/or moving very slowly the last few days.

"Although the official forecast continues to show a track east of
Florida, it is still too soon to rule out possible hurricane
impacts there. It is also too soon to know whether, or how, Matthew
might affect the remainder of the United States east coast."

We are on the Fri 3 night sailing of the Dream. I hope it can get in but have a feeling we will be delayed and expecting not to get to CC. They are calling for 100+ mph winds and very large sees for Abaco on Thurs. I would think Disney would evacuate the Island in front of the storm. Hoping CC doesn't sustain to much damage and we are not delayed, and if we are for not to long.

Weather channel just said it will steer toward the west on Thur and Fri. So it could be interesting.
