Has anyone done the snuba excursion either at Coral World or
Trunk Bay? I was just checking out this website visnuba and it looks pretty good.

I was wondering if there was enough time to do the Trunk Bay snuba excursion? There is one at 11:00 and one at 1:00. If we did the 11:00, they claim that you can be back to the ship by 4:00 at the latest... Is this cutting it tooooo close??

On St. Thomas we rented a jeep and snorkeled at Coki Beach. It was terrific. Alot of fish and reefs just off shore. Our kids were so excited! We brought our on snorkeling gear with us on the trip. We also enjoyed snorkeling at Castaway Cay.

Snuba is a cross between snorkling and scuba. You are connected to a tank that floats on the water so you can go a little deeper than you would with snorling and stay under water longer. There are pictures on the website that would explain much better....

My in-laws did this in Aruba and they said it was a blast! Just wondering if anyone has done it on the Eastern since you would have to make all the arrangements on your own... The Trunk Bay snuba trip sounds great but I was concerned about the timing...

Thanks!

bumping this up...

Anyone do the Trunk Bay Snuba???? If not can someone advise on the logistics of getting to and from St John's? It looks like the SNUBA would be over by 1:00... what is the latest ferry you can take from Cruz Bay and still make it back to the ship before it leaves?

Thanks!

not snuba.. but I will warn you it does take quite some time to get to trunk bay and back. it is just beautiful there, probably the prettiest place I hae ever seen-very un-commercialized! I would not go there however unless it was a DCL excursion just for the time factor. We did not arrive back until almost 4:30 which was the scheduled deport time. I was pretty nervous until I realized that they would not leave without us as it was a DCL excursion.

We did SNUBA on Trunk Bay back in 2001 and managed the times no problem and I am a worrier! We got off the ship as soon as possible and made the 9am ferry. Had SNUBA booked for about 11am - there was only the 2 of us and it is an epxerience I will never forget. I am sure we made the 2pm ferry and even had time to shop in St Thomas before getting back on board.

Thanks for the replies!! We would really like to do the Snuba at Trunk Bay but I am really nervous about not making it to the ship on time....

Ann what time did your excursion end? Did you take the ferry or did you return by boat? If you took the ferry, what time did you leave?

Wendym, does the 11:00 session get over by 1:00? Did you have time to enjoy the beach after snuba or did you head right out to get the 2:00 ferry?

Thanks again....

a boat that does the five star snorkle, I believe we left St. Thomas around noon (this was two years ago so I am guessing it may have been 11:00 I really don't recall, I know we had time to run into town quickly before we left) the boat took about 40mins to get to trunk bay we spend about 1-2 hours there and then the40 mins back home.

We had over an hour to enjoy the beach before SNUBA - mum thinks this is the prettiest place she has ever been to. Sure SNUBA lasted at least 90 mins so we had about an hour afterwards as well.
Just found my old trip report - it doesn''t have all the times but it may help.
"Today we had to be up at 6.15am for immigration- it all went very smoothly and we were back in our cabin by 6.45am. I grabbed some breakfast from topsiders and then it was off to St Thomas. We caught a taxi to get the 9am Red Hook ferry to Cruz Bay and then a taxi to Trunk Bay. This was heaven on earth and just what I imagined. Clear blue sea and white sands. We had plenty of time before our SNUBA expedition so we went swimming. Then it was time to meet our guide- Frank. It was just the 2 of us and it was wonderful. He had so much patience- mum was very nervous and although an excellent swimmer is not keen on putting her face underwater. He put her totally at ease. We had an hour’s tuition and then it was into the water. It was so liberating swimming with the air hose but no air tank- this was on a raft. We could get right down and we saw so many different types of fish and coral. The colours were amazing. The hour went by so quickly. We then did the journey in reverse and headed to the Havensight Mall in St Thomas. Mum got a gold necklace and we bought some presents- all got back intact."
