When I went to disney land as a child I picked out the most beautiful snow globe as a souviner. And still cherish it to this day. I am really looking forward to my 5yr old DD getting one. Does anyone know if they still offer a selection of these at disney world?:tinker:

We purchased these for our DK and DGK for years. Disney's only offered a few small ones for quite a while. Although, you can still find the big snow globes on eBay.

They have drastically cut down on the snow globes offered because with the airline restrictions (you're not allowed to take them as carry-on and few people want to risk them in checked baggage) there was less and less of a demand. They have some, but the selection is very limited.

One of my friends bought one last week from World of Disney at Disney Springs. We had seen a couple of smaller ones throughout the parks, but WoD had about five different ones, more than we had seen anywhere else. He purchased the biggest one they had, and it was slightly over $50. He took it on his carry-on and was stopped by security, but after a quick inspection, they let him through. He works for Southwest though, so I'm not sure that that's something they'll always let slide.

When he purchased it, the CM wrapped it in a weird cardboard "padding." You'd definitely need to ask for extra or take some (large) bubble wrap with you if you're going to put it in checked baggage.

Yes, but they aren't available at the Disney Sores either. There are only two small ones online.

Best bet might be to pay Disney to ship it home. They'll box it up very carefully, and if anything happens to it in transit they take responsibility.

Why on earth can't you take a snowglobe on a plane?!

OKay, since I don't fly - why on earth can't you take a water bottle?

Some explosives are liquids. Thus you're limited to the number of 3-ounce containers you can fit in a quart size clear plastic bag. You can bring an empty water bottle and then fill it up after you're in the "secure" zone.

It's the post 9/11 security measure. You can't take any liquid more than 3 ounces through security (in case it's explosives.) After you pass security most airports have kiosks and Starbucks where you can buy drinks, bottled water, etc.

My daughter always buys a snow globe from Disney, one for each trip. The last two trips she didn't see any she liked and in fact there was the exact same selection the last two years in a row. She decided against the snow globes and picked up other things instead. It makes me sad but since the airline restrictions, there has been less and less beautiful snow globes to collect. I do hope you find one that you like though. :)

I went in the 90's when i got my beautiful Beauty & the Beast one and my mom broke the globe cleaning one day and was so upset. I still remember that day. But i still love it now and so does my daughter! I'll have to check out WoD when we go for sure! Thank you all!!

One thing - if you do find a snow globe you like and want to take it in your checked luggage, I can almost guarantee that it's not going to break. We purchased a standard size snow globe and that thing was wrapped in so much bubble wrap, it took us fifteen minutes after we were home to cut through just the tape. Then, it's put into a Disney Box (and ours barely fit so the sides stuffed out). My husband looked at the final product and said "I don't even think that big giant of Disney could punt that and have it break".

We have also had the larger snow globes (when available) shipped back to our house. No snow glove has even broken no matter how we've taken it home. Oh - and the small snow globes? They get bubble wrapped as well when you buy them. We've learned that Disney doesn't just throw something into a bag and hand it back to you. Heck - when my son bought a postcard and didn't want to carry it around since he wanted to collect it, not send it, the Cast Member bubble wrapped the darn thing before it got sent back to the resort.
