Snow White lived with 7 Men, thats CRAZY! Girls Only Trip-May 2012! *WE ARE LEAVING!*

Joining in!

Your title caught my attention... I went on a "Girls Only" trip last September and had SO. MUCH. FUN! It was definitely weird being at WDW without my kids, but I'm so ready for another trip for just the adults (not counting the one I have coming up in October, just DH and I!)

Your dresses are so cute... I think the green zebra-ish one would be perfect to wear at AK! I wore a sundress last year during one evening at Epcot... it was great. Comfy, as well as cool! :thumbsup2

Welcome! So glad you stopped by!:cool1:
We LOVE Girls Only trips! We do not have kids yet, but this week does get us away from everything for a week!
Thank you!!! I thought the same thing about the zebra dress! I'd fit right in at AK!!! :rotfl: I am hoping that wearing the dresses will help keep me cool! Its no fun to be super hot!

Great Disney purchaces! I wore a couple of skirts on our last trip and loved it. It was so much cooler than shorts. I'm thinking about investing in some sundresses this time. Yours are so cute!

Aren't they fun??!! I'm so glad everyone seems to agree that wearing skirts is a good option! They will make packing so much easier! You should get some for your Disney trip--just another reason to go SHOPPING! Like we need a reason! :rolleyes1

I like to "match" whatever park I'm in... wearing a Mickey/Minnie tee to MK, a Muppets tee to DHS, etc. So I think the dress is a great choice for AK!

And you're right... it's hot enough in Florida as it is. I'm already starting to think about what I'll wear, and I still have 6 months until my trip!

Cute dresses for your trip!

And, this organizing loving teacher loves the Mickey and Minnie paper clips!

Oh! That's a good idea to match the park! Hadn't really thought that way about it! How fun!
Its never too early to start wondering about your wardrobe! It just adds to the anticipation of your trip!

Thank you!!
I was so excited when my cousin gave me the paper clips!! I've been using them a lot!!

FINALLY!!!!!

We booked our airfare tonight! And who do you think won out: Cost or Convenience???? :confused3

WELLLL....BOTH!!!:goodvibes

We have seriously been watching airfare EVERY DAY! Sometimes multiple times a day. Yesterday we were so distraught because the flights we had been watching jumped up by about $40 out of Wichita. Flights were still about $100 cheaper out of KC and we were starting to settle on the decision that we should book out of KC. BUT! I checked flights today during my planning period at school and they'd dropped $70!!!! So now, flights out of KC were only $30 cheaper and that's just not worth the 3 hour drive!

So! Without further ado:

Our Airfare Plans

We are leaving Wichita at 5:30am on May 26th. I live about 15 minutes away from the airport and we figure we should be there about 4am. If you've ever flown out of the Wichita airport
1) I'm Sorry
2) IT'S TINY!
It will probably take us all of 20-30 minutes to check our BAG, go through security, and get to our gate.
This map will give you an idea of the size of our airport! HA! :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:
terminal-ict.gif

We are flying on US Airways to Disney.

Also, did you notice the emphasis on BAG?? Yes that is right...we are going to be checking 1 bag. We plan on taking good size carry-ons onto the plane and saving that extra $25 each way. Will we fit it all???? Nobody knows.

The bad part about this flight is we have 2 stops. We will fly on a puddle-jumper to Chicago and have a 2 hr layover there. From O'Hare, we fly to Charlotte, NC. We've never been to North Carolina before, does a 45 min layover count as being there? :rotfl2: Probably not, I know.

Finally, our last flight will leave Charlotte and we will land in ORLANDO at 2:30pm!!!! I figure we should be able to get to Magical Express, ride to Disney, get checked in and be at a park by 4 or 4:30??? Right? We are just so happy we got this flight that will get us in early enough to go to a park that day!!

Ok. So there are the plans for GETTING to Disney.

Now, our flights coming home. Ughhh I'm already dreading the "coming home" part.

We are flying on American Airlines coming home.

We fly out of MCO at 6pm on June 1st. This is great because we will still have a good part of the day that we can be in a park that morning (probably AK- but we will get to that later) and we arrive back in Wichita, with a short layover in Dallas, at 10pm.

So! There ya go! Those are the flights! Now that we have those I am going to be able to lay our days out better! Also with only 43 days :scared1: until we go I really need to get on top of these updates to tell you what we will be doing each day. Look for those SOON!!!

Now I will leave you with a picture of how I want to get my nails done before we go
disneynails.jpg

Found those on Pinterest!

Also, total sidenote: Kansas is supposed to get hit with a ton of tornadoes tomorrow and Wichita is right in the middle of the most severe area (Last time a warning like this was issued was when Alabama had that outbreak of tornadoes last year). So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we and the rest of the Plains gets hammered with storms this weekend. We've got our basement stocked with the essentials! Eek! Kinda nervous!:sad2:

YAY for getting your flight booked! That's a great feeling to know that it's taken care of!

I LOVE the nails---very cute! :)

Hoping things are not as bad for you guys as the weather folks are predicting. I remember that day here in Alabama---it will be one year on April 27. Such a scary time as it happened, and so sad when it was all over. Hope you guys are spared any such weather.

Yay for booking your flights! And your airport looks about the same size as the one here, LOL. It's very small... I'm not even sure it has 12 gates! UGH, and don't get me started on those puddle-jumpers (or crop-dusters, as I like to call them!)

Super-cute nails!

And I know this is so bad of me, but I have not watched or heard any of the news... so hoping the weather in Kansas wasn't as bad as predicted!

It is a great feeling!! Now we just get to look forward to the trip!

Thank you, aren't they adorable!!! I saw them and knew I had to have mine done like that!

We are ok. We were not near the damage that Wichita took. We had about 100 tornadoes in Kansas on Saturday evening. I do know a teacher I worked with last year who completely lost everything and his farmhouse is destroyed, but he and his family are fine. Its so terrible and sad. Wichita does have quite a bit of damage...they were guessing about 253 million worth last I heard :sad1:

There are pluses and minuses for small airports. I love that you do NOT have to get there several hours in advance, but usually rates are higher because of less competition. And yes, puddle-jumpers are no fun. Just hoping for a clear weather day so there is no crazy turbulence.

Thank you! I thought the nails were so cute!

The weather was pretty bad-about 100 tornadoes in all for Kansas. Myself and all my extended family are fine. There is some pretty big damage on the other side of Wichita tho.

Ok, so a while ago I promised you all that I would give more extensive details on our plans for each day. Well now that I have our plane tickets booked :cool1: I am able to figure out our Day 1 plans! So here it goes...

Ok wait...better start with Day 0 plans...aka day before plans...

Sam's last day of school is the 24th of May. We leave on the 26th. So, this means we have the 25th to get EVERYTHING done. I planned on making our nail appointment in the morning. Probably around 10, so we can sleep in a little. I believe we are both going to get our nails done like the picture I posted in my previous update. We will also get pedicures. I'm thinking just the plain old red with white polka dots will be the easiest.

After nails are done we will probably take a trip to Target and get any last minute essentials...like travel size shampoos, batteries, etc. Then we will probably grab lunch--probably Noodles & Co., Chipotle, or McAlisters. After lunch, we will head over to Sam's house-which happens to be on the opposite side of town from me.

As previously posted I said we would be sharing a bag. So, we decided we would take Sam's. Her largest suitcase is bigger than mine and in a bit better shape (the airlines like to abuse my bag :sad2: ). So, Sam will pack all of her stuff in the bag and get together her carry-on and we will head back across town to my house.

We will be staying the night at my house because I only live 10-15 minutes from the airport and then Sam's husband won't have to wake up at 3:30am to take her to the airport. So, once back at my house I will pack up all my stuff into the suitcase and make sure it all fits... hopefully.

Once we are done packing, the rest of our night will include giggling, jumping up and down, watching Disney movies, eating, and maybe a few hours of sleep. I am seriously warning you that we will become 10 year old little girls:yay:

DAY 1 Plans!!!!!! (May 26th)

Our flight leaves at 5:30am. Get me coffee NOW! We will probably want to be there by 4 or 4:15 so we will most likely wake up around 3:30. We are always pretty frumpy on our flight days. I mean, we shower and everything but not much more :goodvibes However, I'm sure we will be super excited so who knows :confused3

After our 2 stops...**groan**...we will be in Orlando at 2:30 in the afternoon!!! YAY!!! I'm so excited! We'll hop on the fake monorail and head for the Magical Express. I can't wait for that lovely movie to play on the bus!

We will hopefully be at POP by 3:30. We will check-in and we are praying for a room in building #1, the Lady building in the 50's section. I put in a room request for this. On our last trip we were in the 90's section, which we loved our location because it was so close to the bus stop, but we want to see a different side of the resort. So, we are hoping to get that.

Once we get to our rooms, hopefully our luggage will be there via Disney magic and we will unpack and GOOOOO!!!! :woohoo:

And where might we be going on our first day?!?!?!!

EPCOT!!!
5170_1100219624271_1190070014_30578689_5323049_n.jpg

We made this decision pretty easily. We knew Hollywood Studios was out because of Star Wars weekend...not dealing with that mess. We didn't want to do Animal Kingdom because it closes so early. So we were stuck on Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We both agreed on Epcot and I will explain why in my next update...cliffhanger I know ;)

It will probably be around 4 or 4:30 at this point. We will probably have already checked Mobile Magic on Sam's Iphone to see if any FP for Soarin are still available (slim chance I know). If not I'm guessing we will wander around Future World and ride Spaceship Earth, and Nemo
5170_1100219944279_1190070014_30578697_539107_n.jpg

and then we will probably try out the GREEN side of Mission:Space.
5170_1100219984280_1190070014_30578698_5973247_n.jpg

Why the GREEN side you may ask? Well, because on our last trip we rode the ORANGE side thinking we were invincible.

Lets just say Mission Space-1 Jenn-0.

I was so motion-sick :crazy2:. Right when we sat down in the ride I knew I was in trouble. Small spaces and flipping around = claustrophobic/motion sick. Basically the ride was horrible for me. I spent the whole time thinking in my head "Don't Throw Up. Everything Will Be Ok. Don't Throw Up." After the ride, I spent about an hour laying down in a back booth in some air conditioned quick service...I was so out of it I don't even know where.

So with encouragement from Sam, who rode the GREEN side with her husband and said its not near as bad, I will try it again. I will also be taking Dramamine on this day. :thumbsup2

At some point will we probably head into the World Showcase. Most likely we will start on the right side and get the quick service Fish'n'Chips in the UK. OMG WE LOVE THESE!!! They were so good last time, we have been craving them so bad!

We will probably wander around the showcase for a while.

5170_1100220544294_1190070014_30578711_377976_n.jpg

We will stay for Illuminations, which I am so excited to see, since I never got to see it on my 1st trip. Then we will head back to Pop Century and hopefully be so tired we will fall right asleep.

We will need our beauty sleep for the long day we have the next day. Lets just say we have a lunch date with some old friends and a park with LATE extra magic hours, but thats another update for another day...

Great 1st Day (and Day 0) plans! :thumbsup2

I can't do Mission: Space. First time I rode it, I did the Orange Team... thank goodness it was our last ride of the night because afterwards I was D-O-N-E. This was back on our '07 trip... refused to ride it on our 2010 trip, and finally decided to try the Green side last summer. Not as bad as the Orange, but nope, I will not be doing this ride again! I can handle pretty much anything else... rides that spin, go upside-down, backwards, forwards, loop-dee-loop. I just can't do the flight simulators!

When I first rode Mission:Space, there was only the orange side! When I came off the ride, I looked green! That was back in 2005, and I had not ridden it again until last year. My family talked me into riding the green side with them. I was a nervous wreck before-hand, but it wasn't as bad as I remember the other original side being.

That being said, I still think I can wait another five years until I do it again!

I am still nervous about doing the green team. I'm hoping that the dramamine will help. I had never had trouble before on things like flight simulators. This was honestly the first ride to ever make me feel sick. Maybe you were smart in doing it last thing though...maybe I should rethink my plans :scratchin and we can catch it last thing that day...

Oh no! Being motion sick is the worst feeling! :crazy2: So sad you have to experience it too! Did you get motion sick on the green side, too?
I am still nervous, no doubt about that!! But I'm hoping that with it being the calmer side and taking Dramamine will help me out. I had never gotten so motion sick!

I did not get sick on the green side. I was actually more sick feeling before the ride because I was such a nervous wreck thinking about the last time! :headache:

I've always thought that Disney misnamed the sides of this ride. Shouldn't the side that makes you green, be called the green side? ;)

I'm here!!! I just read all your posts so far. I love how you're obsessing over everything... I'm totally the same way! All your plans look great! Except it really stinks that you have two stops on your trip! :( Don't worry about the small airport hahaha, Richmond's airport is pretty small too. And I went to college in the town next to Chattanooga, TN, and their airport has FOUR GATES. HAHAHAH. Anyways... can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

So glad the green side wasn't bad enough to make you sick, that is reassuring for me.
I think you are right about the naming of the sides  because I felt REALLY green after my first ride.

YAY!!! So glad you were able to get on DIS again!! :cool1::banana::yay:
I AM obsessing over everything!! It is half the fun!! :lmao:
Thank you! I know I am kinda bummed about the two stops.
I don't mind flying at all, I just worry about delays. I don't want to lose any DISNEY TIME!!

Joining in! I'm going in May too (I have a PTR going if you want to join!) but we're going earlier in the month, but still, yay for May trips!

Airfare is crazy right now, I'm glad you finally found a decent price, but ugh, stopping twice? That would drive me crazy, I'm not really good with flying so I have to minimize the times we have to take off and land! :rotfl:

Your clothes are so cute, I love that purple dress from Target! I actually saw a similar dress there a few weeks ago and I thought about trying it on, but I figured it would look horrible on me...now I kind of want to go back and see if they still have it! :thumbsup2

I love the idea for your nails, I never think to check Pinterest for Disney nails! I've been trying to come up with a Disney theme for my nails for this trip and all I can come up with is red nails with white polka dots, like Minnie's dress! :rotfl2:

I don't think I will mind the stopping twice, as long as there are no delays. I don't want to lose any Disney Time!
Thank you! I want to look decent but still be comfy!! They do have similar ones this year at Target. I haven't seen anyone that they do not look good on. They are flattering for all figures, which is awesome:thumbsup2
I thought the nails were really cute too! They do have some cute ones on Pinterest, you should definitely check them out! Classic Minnie is always cute though!

31 days. I seriously can NOT wait!:yay:
Day 2 Plans!!
May 27th
Today will be our first full day in Disney. I have the feeling that we will be so excited to wake up to Mickey Mouse calling us that we should be able to make it to rope drop. Where you may ask???

The Magic Kingdom OF COURSE!

5006_1099561727824_1190070014_30574609_637932_n.jpg

On this day, Magic Kingdom’s hours are 9am-1am. Yay for EMH!! We plan to be there at rope drop and leave when the park closes!
When the park opens, we will head straight for Space Mountain. We will ride standby and then grab FP for later. We will then hang around Tomorrowland and go to Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor, the People Mover, and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
If we are able, we will grab another FP for Peter Pan and then make a quick trip via Monorail to our lunch reservation at 11:20am. Where might we be headed?

Well hopefully we do not get lost, as this will be my first time on the Monorail. I’m soooo excited!!

We will not be heading towards the Poly. Until later in our trip…

And if you guessed the Grand Floridian, you are also wrong.

We will be headed towards….
contemporaryresort.jpg

and then to….Chef Mickey’s!!!!

ChefMickeys.jpg

This will be my first character dining experience ever (but not my last for this trip ;) )
I am very excited to eat here. I understand that it is breakfast and I am not the biggest breakfast food person, but I am sure it will be fine. I like fruit, yogurt, cereals, and waffles. Therefore, I will be eating Mickey waffles!!!

mickey-waffle.jpg

After we are done at Chef Mickeys, we will take the Monorail back to the Magic Kingdom. I am sure we will check Mobile Magic on Sam’s phone on our way back to MK and see what wait times and other things are going on. We never have a definite plan on the exact route we will take, but last night Sam and I sat down and made out a list of the attractions we HAVE to do!!
So, here is our Magic Kingdom Must Do List (excluding our Tomorrowland picks we will have already done) and (definitely not in this order) :
Splash Mtn.
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Peter Pan
PhilharMagic
Snow White (before it closes:sad1:)
Winnie the Pooh
Jungle Cruise
Hall of Presidents
IASW
Tea Party
Big Thunder Mtn. (we’ll have to catch this later in the trip when its open again)

In amongst all that madness, we want to try Dole Whips for the first time…yummmm!!! I am so excited!!
We also have several characters we would like to meet. I think the ones we can meet in MK that are on our Characters We Must Meet List are:

Tiana
Rapunzel
Chip & Dale
Peter Pan
Tinkerbell
Ariel
Beast- maybe out with Belle??

If you have any suggestions on where you have met any of these characters, I would love your info!! We believe Sam’s Mobile Magic App will show us where the character meet and greets are but not sure if it shows exactly which characters are at the meet and greets.

We will probably eat dinner at Columbia Harbour House or Cosmic Rays, depending on what side of the park we are on. Either way, it will be delicious!

Later in the evening, we will catch the Main Street Electrical Parade at 9pm and then watch Wishes at 10pm. Once Wishes is over, we will try to hit up any attractions we haven’t gotten to or do some repeats. I love being at MK late at night, especially when crowds die down. Main Street looks amazing all lit up and just makes me happy!

So there is Day 2. It’s going to be a blast!

Also, thought I would post a picture of our DISNEY MAIL!!!!!! We were so excited to get this in the mail and the luggage tags are too cute!

100_1359.jpg

And, here are my amazingly comfy sandals that I bought for the trip! I wear them after a long day teaching on my feet and my feet almost instantly stop hurting when I wear them!

100_1360.jpg

And last but not least, I found this old bow from when I was a little girl and I 100% plan on wearing it in my hair while in Disney. I swear I’m 23 years old.

100_1361.jpg

Next up, Day 3, we will be spending the day amongs the stars, stunts, and toys :yay:

I have never been in the MK past 11:30... I think that's as late we stayed when we went to MNSSHP waaaay back in '07. My girls were only 4 and 6 at the time and they were worn out, we couldn't stay any longer. I think being in the park until 1 a.m. would be so cool! :cool1:

On that same trip in '07 we had dinner at Chef M's. I don't recall any complaints about the food... of course, breakfast would be different. But you can't go wrong with Mickey waffles! YUM!

And speaking of food, CR and CHH are both good! Pecos Bill's is also another good one. Like you said, I'd just go with whichever one is closest to you depending on where you are in the park.

When does SWSA officially close? Wouldn't that be cool to be the last person who gets to ride that attraction?!

Love the new luggage tag design! And your shoes, too... Clarks are sooo comfy.

Its so fun to be there late. We did that 2 or 3 times on our last trip. Crowds are super low the later it gets...for reasons like you described--little ones can't stay up that late!

We understood when we booked we were paying more for the character experience than the food. So if the food is better than I expect that will just be a plus!!

We ate at Pecos Bill's last time and it was good!! We could end up eating there again, too. But we want to try new things also!

SWSA I believe is set to close on May 31st. I'm terribly sad about this. I rode it in Disneyland when I was a little kid and it brings back fond memories. We are planning another MK day either the 30th or 31st, so we could be some of the last people on it. :sad1:

And yes, Clarks are amazing!!
