Snow White Does the Creep on the Trip that Almost Wasn't A Dec 11/Jan 12 TR 7/24 NEW

Sooo glad you got to stay at CSR! Isn't it a beautiful resort? DH and I stayed there a few times, it is so pretty! Hahaha! Emma and I have that dream too, to stay at every resort. We've even talked about doing it all in one trip! Hahaha! Can you imagine? I hear you about the bread at Kona, it is super delicious! AK without crowds is heavenly, excellent timing! Oh dear, you had an argument at AK? Well, we've all been there! ;)

Awww, I'm glad yall finally got your senior prom. How adorable! HAHAHAH the Jack Sparrow card. So perfect.

I'm so glad to hear that you can actually go to a park on NYE and it won't be completely crazy! I'm so sorry your foot was hurting though. :(

Omg, why did people get so excited over a pooping animal? One time I saw a cow with the runs and I can promise you I wasn't excited about it.

Awww, how sweet of John to take you to your senior prom? What a good guy! :goodvibes

If I ever go to WDW on NYE, I will remember to go to AK on that day because of your TR's! Sounds like no one wants to be there that day! :rotfl:

Ummm...I didn't know that baobab tree wasn't real...I'm a little disappointed. I thought they like, transplanted it from Africa or something. I mean, I always thought that might be a little farfetched, but it's DISNEY, they made the Tree of Life out of an oil rig, the least they could do was ship a tree to Florida, how hard can that be? :confused3

HAHAHA!!! I love in that video the guide says "if you look to the right, the animals are NOT pooping!" People are so fascinated with animals pooping at Disney. I swear, this poor tiger had like 50 people watching it go to the bathroom in October, everyone was pointing and laughing...I just walked away after a minute, give the poor guy some privacy!

Hi Joni, I'm trying to catch up on my reading.

Earl of Sandwich is on my list. We've never been, but I've been seeing some pics of some great looking sandwich.

Coronado springs looks amazing.

Wo-Hoo for being able to switch to the Coronado!! That is where we will be staying for the 1st week of our trip! It must have been exciting to hear it was a KING room that was available!

Sorry your foot is giving you so many troubles! Hopefully it got to feeling better!!

That's really cute about "your" prom! I'm glad you guys got to experience that finally!

It's no fun to be injured at Disney, I hope your foot ended up feeling better!

:thumbsup2 to being in a practically empty AK!

Of course THAT would be the picture that wasn't blurry. I'm weird.

I love this picture! Does that make me weird as well? :rotfl2: Fantastic TR (as usual). I'll have a lot of catching up to do in a couple of weeks when I get back! I hope my TR is half as good as yours have been! :cool1:

Aww, how cute that you guys finally got to go to a prom together. John looks great in his suit, very Johnny Cash!!

YUM Kona pancakes! My mom loves those too. That was a great Mother's Day idea!

AWW that video of the animals chasing each other is so cute! I love when they do something that you don't expect. And oh, the lioness is just so beautiful. I love them so much.

Haha, I love that John captured something actually interesting to watch while everyone else was freaking out over an animal going to the bathroom.

We were at AK on NYE too. Just a bit later than you were. We were still sleeping off our very late plane ride at that time. :faint:

That's so cool we were there on the same day! :goodvibes

How sweet of your husband to dress up and escort you to prom. :goodvibes

My husband loves the baobab tree! We must have at least ten pictures of it from our last trip, and everytime he shows photos to our friends he'll explain the meaning of the tree and how it's know as the "upside down tree." I don't have the heart to tell him it's not real.

It was so sweet! We had a blast! :)

Haha aww! I'm glad you haven't told him the truth- it sounds like it would kill some of the magic for him!

How sweet of him to dress up and go with you!!!

I'm sorry things turned sour as the day went on. :( It's no fun to argue on vacation. And your poor foot. :(

He was so sweet! :goodvibes

Thanks! Arguing on vacation does stink. Luckily it didn't last long.

Oh yay! Coronado! So glad you guys were able to switch resorts! I've never seen Coronado, so that may be a visit on our upcoming trip!! :)

OMG I love that bread too!!! It is sooooo good!!!

AWWWW That is so cute about John being your date to the prom! :goodvibes I love that!!

I love the Mother's Day card! :rotfl2: Too funny!!

How cool you were the first few in AK! That's always so nice!!

Coronado is gorgeous! I hope you get to see it sometime!

Yeah it is! I love it!

He's so sweet! :goodvibes

Thanks! She loved it too! :)

THE BREAD is so good! I hope you get to try it some time!

Yeah, that fight was no fun!

Yeah AK on NYE is great...no crowds! Thanks, it got better soon, thank goodness!

HAHA seriously...I don't see the attraction!

Haha yeah it's definitely a good day to go there!

I'm sorry! I hate to be the one to break the bad news. I didn't know it was fake until recently. :sad1:

Hahaha I never noticed that! People are so weird...what is so great about an animal pooping?! :confused3

Thanks! I told him you said that, he was so flattered! He loves Johnny Cash! :lmao:

Thank you! I was really proud of how they turned out. My mom ate them for breakfast and dinner!

Haha they were cute! I loved that lioness picture too...I hardly ever see them!

Seriously, those people were acting so excited over animal crap. They missed the good stuff!

Joining in LATE...... but, can't wait to get all caught up!!! :thumbsup2

:welcome: You're not late- you're right on time! Enjoy! :)

Okay so I know I left off with a cliffhanger about this epic fight, but we’re not quite there yet. Usually when John and I have a fight (which is very rarely) it’s on a day that we are both in bad moods and things are going poorly, but that was not the case on this day. Granted, my foot was hurting, but other than that we were having a good morning.

After we finished with Kilimanjaro Safaris John really wanted to see more animals, including his beloved gorillas, so we headed to the Pangani Forest Exploration. John loves going here and to the Maharajah Jungle Trek, and he wants to go EVERY time we go to Animal Kingdom. Don’t get me wrong- I enjoy seeing all the animals too, but seeing them every trip just isn’t really necessary for me. For that reason, we’re going to put the first bit of blame for the fight on me because I was less-than-enthusiastic about the Forest Exploration.

Despite my lacking enthusiasm, I still took a ton of pictures, of course. Here’s a cute mouse getting ready to grub on an apple slice.

DSCN0381.jpg

And here’s a disgusting lizard, being dinosaur-like...and disgusting.

DSCN0382.jpg

Then it was time for our routine ten hour visit to the gorillas. YAWN.

DSCN0386.jpg

At first I was like, “Yeah yeah, I get it. Gorillas. Cool.” And then I was like...”OMGAH WHAT IS THAT?!”

DSCN0384.jpg

BABY GORILLA. I can’t even. :lovestruc

I am usually bored stiff by these gorillas, but a baby gorilla? That’s a whole other story. He was SO FREAKING CUTE. I don’t know his name, so I’ll just make one up. He’s too cute to not have a name. We’ll call him...Walter.

Time to do the creep on Walter!

Walter’s like, “Mmm...my hand smells good.”

DSCN0388.jpg

“What’s this I’ve got here?”

DSCN0389.jpg

NOM.

DSCN0390.jpg

Then Walter was like, “Oh my, there’s a creepy girl with a camera over there stalking me.” So he ran away.

But I followed.

DSCN0395.jpg

Then this big fella, whom I am assuming is Walter’s father, scared me away.

DSCN0396.jpg

John wanted to have his picture taken with a gorilla in the background, but as soon as I went to take the picture the gorilla turned his back and straight snubbed him.

DSCN0398.jpg

HAHA. Poor John. :lmao: It’s still a really cute picture, though!

Alright, this is about the moment when the fight began. Get ready for a long story. After we finished the Pangani Forest Exploration my foot was KILLING me. Like, hurting worse than it had yet, and it had been hurting pretty bad. I was feeling very frustrated and embarrassed because I was limping around all over the place. I went to sit down near Tusker House where they have all the tables in the sunshine, and I took out the map to find the nearest First Aid station. My foot was really swollen, so I thought ibuprofen might help. I found the place and realized it was just over the bridge, so I said to John, “Would you do me a favor?” His response: “Ugh, what?” Okay so he didn’t literally say “ugh,” but he kind of sighed like I was just SO annoying. So we’re going to say that portion of the fight which was his fault. If you’re keeping count, that’s Joni:1 John:1.

As soon as he said it to me in THAT TONE, I was done. I basically said something to the effect of, “Just forget it” and stormed away toward the First Aid station. John started following after me doing the whole, “What’s wrong? What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” thing, and I just couldn’t take it so I ignored him. Let’s call that Joni:2. But in my defense, I was really frustrated and upset and on edge from all the pain I was in.

He followed me all the way to the first aid station, which thankfully is kind of hidden away because I rounded on him and we had this blow up fight. It basically consisted of me accusing him of being apathetic to my plight and in a bad mood, and him accusing me of being pretty much just in a bad mood. Usually we make up from fights right away, but John finally threw up his hands, said “WHATEVER,” and stormed into the first aid station to get me some ibuprofen. So I proceeded to sit on the bench outside and openly weep.

When he came back out with my little packet of ibuprofen we had this awkward moment where we were kind of waiting to see who would apologize first, and he gave in and told me he was sorry about getting an attitude about getting me ibuprofen. Then I apologized for going slightly nuts on him in the middle of Animal Kingdom. We went through the formalities, but it was obvious that we were both still a little mad because we kind of ignored each other for a few minutes.

Because we were still sorting of fighting I was too proud to tell him that I really wanted to get some breakfast before I took my ibuprofen because it makes me nauseous. Then he turned back into my sweet and loving husband, and he said, “Go sit down at Tusker House and I’ll get you a breakfast sandwich so you can take your medicine,” and he kissed the top of my head, which he does all the time. *Sigh* All better! :goodvibes

And so ends the ibuprofen affair. Not a huge deal, I know, but I’m not exaggerating when I say we hardly ever fight. Anyway, I went to sit down in the sunshine and a few minutes later John was back with this for me:

DSCN0399.jpg

I have no idea where he got it, but it was pretty good! It had egg, cheese, and sliced ham. It served its purpose, and after I ate it I was able to take my ibuprofen! Yay!

Up Next: More animals, and new experiences, including a new favorite restaurant! Stay tuned!

Awww so sorry about your fight! Fighting in WDW is the WORST!! I mean, it IS the Happiest Place on Earth right? ;) I'm glad you guys came around and it didn't last all day!! :goodvibes

Oh, and P.S.: my DBF has the same shirt as John! :)

Gorillas are awesome in their own way but I agree, it can be a little less than exciting to watch them for a long time. But baby gorilla (I've seen on other TRs that her name is Lilly!! awww) is just precious!!!

Oh no!! I'm sorry about your fight. And that you cried. It's all so sad. :sad2: But hooray for making up. Awwww :goodvibes:

That baby gorilla was adorable!!!!

It's always crappy to fight on vacation, but at WDW it's often unavoidable. I mean on a Disney vacation you are often more tired than usual from all the running around and getting less sleep etc. So it's totally normal to snap ESPECIALLY when you are in pain! At least you didn't let it fester and ruin the rest of your day!!

I'm just getting caught on up on the past day and a half of your trip - I am so glad that you were able to move resorts! I think CSR is so pretty. We stayed there a few years ago but that was before the awesome room refurb. I'd love to go back now and experience the new decor. I think the rooms are so deluxe-like. :thumbsup2

I LOL'd at your Kona bread experience. I wasn't impressed with Kona when we ate there, but I would go back for that bread! It is so, so good. Miguel even requested a whole loaf to go and ate the whole thing for breakfast the next morning. :rotfl:

I'm so sorry to hear about your foot/first aid incident. I think I would have reacted the same way. I do not do well with pain and it puts me on edge, too! I'm glad you and John made up quickly and he was so sweet to get you the sandwich. I hope the medicine did the trick and you felt better soon! :goodvibes

Awww....baby gorilla Walter (love the name...even if it's not the right one!) was there when we went in September!!! I took tons of pics, including "playing with others"

DSC02107.jpg

and "what's over here?"

DSC02104-1.jpg

He was so cute, I could have watched him all day!

Sorry you guys got in a fight...we did that on our honeymoon...I really don't remember why we fought, but I walked around World Showcase absolutely steaming mad trying to catch up to DH, who I think had decided where he wanted to eat and I didn't want that? :confused3 Looking back, it was dumb, but that's just the worst place to fight!!

Glad things are looking up!

I'm loving reading about your trips! My hubby and I (along with 20 other family members) will be going to Disney in 20 days!! So I like reading what you and your husband did together so I have a better idea of things to do with my hubby! We'll be on our own a lot!

Oh, and P.S.: my DBF has the same shirt as John! :)

Thanks! Fighting in WDW is the worst, but I guess it happens to everyone sometime or another. It was unpleasant, but thank goodness it didn't last!

Haha that's so cool! John loves that shirt. He's obsessed with anything to do with space.

Gorillas are awesome in their own way but I agree, it can be a little less than exciting to watch them for a long time. But baby gorilla (I've seen on other TRs that her name is Lilly!! awww) is just precious!!!

Ahh, it's a she. Named Lilly. Wow, I was way off with the whole Walter thing. Oh well. :)

Yeah the gorillas are cool for a while, and then they're not cool anymore. Expect for the one I saw in 2010 eating off a plate. That is still pretty impressive.

Thanks! It was pretty sad, and awkward, but we made it up quickly!

That baby gorilla was adorable!!!!

Yeah I think you're right, WDW is fabulous but it's definitely not what I would consider a low-stress vacation! I'm so glad it didn't last though!

I was so excited to try CSR! I really love the decor, and I've heard so many people say it reminds them of a deluxe resort!

HAHA Miguel was very smart about that! I'm going to have to do that on our next trip...although I don't think I could wait until breakfast to eat it!

Thank you! It was not fun, but luckily the argument didn't last!

AWWW YAY! I love your Walter/Lilly pics! So cute!

Haha your fight sounds exactly like the one and only other fight John and I have ever had in Disney! I'm glad I'm not alone with the occasional disputes!

I'm loving reading about your trips! My hubby and I (along with 20 other family members) will be going to Disney in 20 days!! So I like reading what you and your husband did together so I have a better idea of things to do with my hubby! We'll be on our own a lot!

Thank you so much! :) I'm glad you're enjoying my TRs! Wow, that's so cool that you're going with such a large group! That will be a blast, but I'm glad you have lots of time planned for just you and your hubby! :goodvibes I hope I've given you some good ideas!

Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Mine’s been pretty great! John and I spent the entire weekend together, which we hardly ever get to do! :cloud9: My parents bought him a grill for his birthday so we grilled out last night and tonight. Also, I finally caved and went with him to see The Avengers today. I’m not a big super hero fan, but it was pretty good. It was surprisingly funny, and I was quite happy with Thor. Have you seen that guy? Let’s just say...I ain’t mad at him. ;)

Also, we are down to SEVEN WEEKS until our vacation! Ahh! I can’t believe it! Last week I paid off both hotel rooms, which was a big relief. That takes care of travel expenses and lodging! Now I just need to finish saving up money for my AP, John and my mom’s park tickets, and our food! Sheesh! Thank goodness there’s still a few paydays before our trip! :)

Anyway, on with the update!

After the Ibuprofen Affair John and I were doing that thing that people tend to do after a fight, which is being exceptionally nice to each other. Kind of like, “Would you perchance fancy a bottle of water?” “Well thank you for asking, you’re so courteous. I would love to partake, but only if you do.” You get the point. Except I don’t know why I made us sound so formal...? Anyway...

Since we were being so nice to each other, I actually offered to go on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Can you believe it? Usually I avoid that place like the plague because of the giant demon bats, but I was feeling gracious and I know John loves seeing the tigers.

DSCN0401.jpg

Why do I always photograph the komodo dragon? I really have no particular interest in it, yet I can’t walk by without taking its picture. Well, I named the baby gorilla, so I might as well name the dragon too. Hmmm...Dolores.

DSCN0402.jpg

If you’re wondering why that picture is incredibly blurry, it’s because I took it against my better judgement as I was running by and trying not to look at that disgusting creature for too long.

DSCN0403.jpg

Oh hello there, demon bats. How is your watermelon? Not as tasty as human souls, you say?

DSCN0405.jpg

Tiger time! This is the one part of the Maharajah Jungle Trek that I can handle without flinching.

DSCN0406.jpg

Seeing this sleeping tiger made me think of Calvin and Hobbes, and the poems Calvin always composed while Hobbes was asleep in the sun.

This tiger is sprawled so still and so flat,
a question arises when glancing thereat.
Is he asleep? To be perfectly frank,
he looks more as if he was creamed by a tank!

DSCN0411.jpg

That one was awake!

After our journey through the jungle, John asked if I wanted to try something we had never done before: Flights of Wonder! I had never really had any interest in this show, but we still had some time before our lunch ADR so I said sure, why not?

Little did I know until after I was comfortably seated in the theater, these birds fly right over your head. Some of them even TOUCH you. :scared: No thank you. If you remember the story from my previous TR about the parrot attacking my sister in the pet store, I’m not a big fan of large birds. Therefore I spent 75% of the show crouching down next to John trying to make myself invisible.

Other than my constant terror throughout, this was a pretty neat show!

DSCN0417.jpg

DSCN0423.jpg

This girl looks like she’s thinking, “How did I end up HERE? I wanted to be a princess!”

DSCN0425.jpg

Ugh, parrots. I took that picture to show my sister, lest we forget her encounter with Rocky the parrot.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any other pictures of Flights of Wonder because I was busy trying to protect my head. Not a bad show, but I don’t think I’ll be rushing to see it again.

After we finished it was almost time for our lunch ADR at Yak and Yeti! We had never been here before, so we were super excited!

When we checked in we were seated almost immediately. We were upstairs at a table right next to the stairwell. The people at the table next to us were all wearing business attire and they seemed to be having a working lunch. Who has business lunches in AK? Whoever it is, I want their job.

Anyway, onto the FOOD!

DSCN0426.jpg

For my entree I ordered the baby back ribs.

They were really really good! The BBQ sauce was sweet and delicious, and I loved the slaw! The rice was nothing exceptional, but I was too full to eat much of it anyway!

DSCN0427.jpg

John ordered the shaoxing steak and shrimp. He really enjoyed it, and ate everything except his rice.

We were very happy with our entrees, but that wasn’t the real reason we had come to Yak & Yeti. We were here for the DESSERT. Any guess which dessert we had been dying to try?

DSCN0428.jpg

The FRIED WONTONS. AKA, skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla icecream and honey vanilla drizzle. AKA, the BEST DESSERT EVER. :lovestruc

DSCN0429.jpg

South Park banker voice, “Aaaaaand...it’s GONE!”

Seriously, as of right now I have to say that’s my favorite dessert in Disney World. Thank goodness we each got our own serving, because we absolutely devoured them! So delicious!

After lunch we were feeling full and satisifed, so we decided to make our way out of Animal Kingdom.

DSCN0430.jpg

On the way out I stopped to take a picture of the mysterious murky green water.

DSCN0431.jpg

And the Tree of Life!

Up next: An impromptu photo shoot at CSR, and New Years Eve at DHS! Stay tuned!
