Snow to 80 in 8 days–A spoonful of Holiday Cheer (2/5 update Ch 36 - Final Thoughts)

Marv, the pictures are gorgeous. And nothing personal...but keep it there, please. I really hate snow and Mark hates it all the more. They are telling us 1-3 inches is all we will get tonight/tomorrow (hopefully).
Looks like we might keep it here a while! Already cancelled school for tomorrow. The good news is that everything seems to have settled down. A small amount of sleet earlier, but there doesn't appear to be any additional accumulation lately, and NO freezing rain!!!
Hi, I'm here! I love your snow pictures!!!
I just came inside from playing & trying to warm up.
Can't wait to read about your trip!
:welcome: Amy! So good you found your way here. Hope you guys don't get any more winter precipitation besides what you already got!
Your snow pictures are pretty - but that's the only time I like snow - in a picture :thumbsup2 So far this winter, other than Christmas Eve, we haven't had any snow other than light dustings....I am totally ok with that and am perfectly content for it to remain that way until an early Spring when everything warms up and turns green. :sunny: Unfortunately, my delivery man this morning said they were calling for a few inches or more this week....he covers most of the state so maybe it will keep landing somewhere else.
This darned global warming is ruining everything! :rotfl2:
marv,

i saw 4 pages and was expecting to see more than the intro

stop playing in the snow and get to typing mister.:rolleyes1

some one has to get an update done and you know it isnt going to be me.
 heck im still on my first week after 6 months of typing.

seriously looking forward to more.
:thumbsup2
You're calling me slow??? :confused3 Rosie made it over here faster than you did!!! :lmao:

Still about 4 more hours before we will have been back a week. I'm not in THAT big of a hurry to do the whole TR!!! ;)

Oh, and :welcome: Dan! Good to have you here!

Beautiful snow pictures, nothing prettier than pristine white snow on evergreen trees. I love your property, looks like a nice big lot and the neighbours look pretty far off so lots of privacy.

We are still getting a mix ( according to radar) and will be for hours.

Schools have not made a decision yet and well I am afraid work might just be on a delay. But I have fingers and toes crossed for another day off.

Those snow pictures just made my jaw drop! Remind me of the kind of snow we used to get up here, before the winters got so warm.

How do you get all the shoveling done???? Do you have one of those giant snow machines that you sit on?

Hello Marv, I'm here .... now you can start with the real report :goodvibes
:welcome: Katharina!!! Glad you are here!:thumbsup2 I finally made a comment about your dirndl. Would love some feedback!
Lovely snow pictures, Marv! We would have to drive about an hour up into the Cascades to see that kind of accumulation. Apparently, thought, Mt. Hood has a 12 foot base- so it's there if you want it.
It is always good to have access to snow when you need it for recreational purposes.:goodvibes
Hey Dan (and anybody else) I just put up an update...
Oh great, now I’m even further behind! Now I’m never going to get a chance to do my TR update.:sad2:
Marv must be out in the snow building snow forts or something that we don't have the update that he was going to do since he was snowbound. :lmao:
Actually I had to spend some time out trying to clear some of it off the driveway in hopes of getting out tomorrow. As a contractor, if I don’t make it in to work, I don’t get $$$ :guilty:
:wave2: I was busy since thursday, someone didn't leave me very much time for the disboards ;) so now I try to catch up... But Marvin seems to work slowly - lucky for me ;)
Slowly? :confused3 This TR is up to 5 pages in less than 24 hours! I’m staying busy just responding to all the banter around here…….and I DO like banter!
Hi Marvin! Wow, your TR is moving fast!! I hope the content will have the same level of quality as the speed is already at! :goodvibes However, so far the speed seems to be mainly due to your visitors... popcorn::
Wow, am I the only one who isn’t going to get to milk this TR for months and months??? Everybody here wants the TR completed faster than the actual trip! :rolleyes1
Well, you made sure it wasn't me since you posted it at 12:30 am my time.... :sad2: At least it was connected to any points (counted or not, worthless or not)...
:welcome: Magdalene! I’ll try to make it up to you numerous times throughout the TR! :)
I was in Berlin from Wednesday until today, it was great to see Katharina again! :goodvibes And then I met Cynthia today in Nuremberg. Hope that ends all confusion for you?
:woohoo: for DISmeets! I guess I need to head over to your TR and read all about it.
Hey, room for one more to join in?
:welcome: Mary Ellen! Plenty of room for everyone, so come on in and join the fun!
Wowsa- that is alot of snow and I hope it goes out to sea before it gets up here to Philly! I have been to afraid to go near the weather channel today. Guess I have to face it sooner or later!
It will be good news! It will be good news! :thumbsup2

Thanks Lessa! I had to get out early and get the pictures before DS13 got out in it having fun! ;) We have a rather long and sloping driveway that he loves to use for "sledding."

I'm a big fan of plenty of room where the neighbors don't live right on top of you! This is a pretty good neighborhood for it! :thumbsup2

Schools have not made a decision yet and well I am afraid work might just be on a delay. But I have fingers and toes crossed for another day off.
We still have some in the area. Luckily we haven't seen too much of that doppler "pink" mix of sleet and freezing rain! The snow is much easier to deal with!
Those snow pictures just made my jaw drop! Remind me of the kind of snow we used to get up here, before the winters got so warm.

Since our snow is typically few and far between, AND usually melts and goes away in one day, it isn't really cost efficient to have equipment for dealing with it. We just have to make do with what we have, which isn't much. Luckily we have one neighbor who has a small tractor with a plow that works on the street and at least makes a small difference on the steeper driveways, which helps some.

Originally I was supposed to have Christmas work holidays on the Wednesday and Thursday before Christmas. I was planning to work the Monday and Tuesday after, then drive half way to Disney on Tuesday night, and arrive for check-in at our DVC home resort of Kidani early Wednesday afternoon. Since that would make it really difficult to celebrate Christmas with both families, I started to try and figure out how to get it all in. With the two oldest DSs having to finish exams and make it home from college, that didn’t leave many opportunities.

After thinking it through I decided to move my Christmas holidays to the Monday and Tuesday AFTER Christmas. We always go to the In-Laws on Christmas Day so this meant we could celebrate with my family right after and head to Florida on Tuesday, driving all the way there. Not only did this mean a solution to seeing everyone at Christmas, but it also meant another (partial)day in the Disney parks!!!:cool1:

So with all the usual packing, double checking everything, and packing some more we also had to get everything ready for Christmas.:santa: All the presents were wrapped and the time to start our journey was getting really close. I got some Christmas cards in the mail from some of my dear DISfriends and then the final day of mail delivery before we had the mail stopped I got a really big surprise; one of the sweetest and dearest things I got over all of Christmas. I opened the envelope to find a thank you card from Tim(that’s nice), Mel and Juliana who recently were at Disney for Ana’s MAW trip!

True to form coming from a Disney Princess, princess: the front looked like this

And inside was a most special personal drawing from Juliana…….

The card was so unexpected and the drawing was so precious!!! Thanks Princess Juliana for a very special Christmas gift!

Christmas Eve came and the weather forecast wasn’t sounding too good. Normally a White Christmas would be a wonderful thing, but with a need to travel smoothly to the In-Laws the next day we weren’t looking forward to having to make the trek on potentially slippery roads. :worried:

Up Next Chapter 2 – Christmas Day and our Journey towards Disney Begins!

I love getting mail from Princess Ana...she is such a sweetie. Nice job on the drawing too.

Looking forward to the next step in the journey.

Rosie, what is the name of your PTR? I've lost it and can't find it.

I too got one of those little gems!! It truly was a special little piece of mail, and such a nice surpirse!

Hmmm... slippery roads are not so good. But I assume you made it ok; however, I see you are employing the use of cliffhangers quite nicely.

;)

I'm here lurking and have been lurking on little Julianna's TR thread too.. What a sweet surprise! The snow you have is the amount we should have here in Wisconsin! We had fog and rain over the holidays! It was some nasty weather. Can't wait to read more. :)

AWWWWWW so sweet.
Yes, a very sweet gift indeed! I still love looking at it! :goodvibes

Anything from Ana is a precious work of art, for sure!

One more update to cover our Christmas travels to see family and we will finally get to the Disney part of this TR!

Hopefully he won't send out an email to everyone to make sure they "Stop by the Bulletin Board when you get a chance and check out Rosie's Pair!" :scared1:
Rosie, what is the name of your PTR? I've lost it and can't find it.
Hey, harking someone else's PTR here? Isn't that against board policy??? Oh, wait a minute........ :rolleyes1
The PTR is Sweet Sixteen Have they been kissed !!!
Uh, Rosie, I don't think you're supposed to tell..... :sad2:
I love your Christmas card, so sweet!!!! :flower3:
What a sweet Christmas card. :goodvibes
What a sweet send off.:lovestruc
I agree with each of you! So very sweet, and a wonderful gift to receive just before our trip to Disney!

What a sweet card and what a great start for your trip! :goodvibes

I think everyone wants a TR that has lots of updates, but will go on for a long time - I am not sure how this is going to work, but I assure you that nobody has any interest in this TR to be over faster than your trip! :scared1:

Morning Marv !!!Having a Disney Nut as a Boss is wonderful!!!He also with a lot of encouragement from Moi is applying to be an ESCORT!!!:banana:
