Snow, Savannah, and NO School! A Feb 2010 TR! UPDATE marathon! New TR! Souvies! 3/6

So the Tshirts from the previous posts I was very excited about. I love retro Mickey Mouse, and I really wanted the Disco T... the Hawaiian Mickey was fun and appropriate for summer! So I am all ready to wear it this June! :cool1:

The beach towel was too fun, and because I decided we needed a few new ones, I went with that design.

Next I have a set of shirts I bought the boys... I have been going back and forth on this shirt for several trips in the past year. I like them because they are the classic design, and I like the heathered color... with the 20% off it was a no brainer! :thumbsup2

This next item was again a fun summer-minded purchase. With the new movie coming out, we loved the design and the holographic finish.

Pins traded this trip! These are for DS4 -- he swapped out a pooh bear and a goofy pin.

This new pin is the Mickey Mouse hat... The "goat" is a trade from a few trips ago :goodvibes

My kids have a sad obsession with Nightmare before Christmas. Sad because they know all of the lyrics to all of the songs, complete with appropriate character voice changes... We have the original CD, the Special Edition Boxed set movie with extras, a book, and now, this CD version...

AnimalKingdomGetawayFeb2010171.jpg

This CD has remixes and covers by some well-known artists. This is an important purchase for reasons you will learn about, soon. :rolleyes1

LAST on the list we have the popcorn buckets (we bought two) with the Muppets GAD theme, and the remaining dipped marshmallow sticks! These were chocolate dipped with cookie crumbs... They had m&m rolled sticks too, but these were the last to be eaten!

AND that is it! :rotfl: I know I come no were close to WigD's shopping sprees, but normally I am too busy to shop a lot. This time, the AP discount made it a must... :rolleyes1 Try that logic on for size!!!

Obviously this was an amazing opportunity for us. It just worked out. I am very fortunate that we were able to take advantage of the unexpected snow, and that both DH and I also had the week off. It couldn't have happened otherwise. So the historic snow fall gave us a memory making trip to the Happiest Place on Earth... I have really only ONE person I can say made this possible... :love2: He is definitely a keeper ::yes::

I will say that not doing the DDP was a new twist for us -- but we had the TIW card, and I think we really made use of it. It was nice to explore the menu the way we wanted. I still intend to go with the DDP for the summer trip, but only the Basic. Again because the TIW card helps with any additional menu items as well as the drinks, we will get our use out of that. AND since we have had time to use it all year, we have certainly saved more than the $75.00 we paid for it. :thumbsup2

I am totally in love with the AKL... if I have a chance to stay there again, I will put it at the top of my list. I really enjoyed the vibe there. I would love to see it in the summer or fall. I was always thinking that after BLT I won't want to stay anywhere else, but now I am not so sure!

JIKO and San Angels were two highlights of this trip to be sure. As was Fantasmic. I am so glad we tried these restaurants out! Of course the most important event on the trip was my DS7's maiden voyage on the "best rollercoaster at Disney"... He can't wait to go back for that alone! LITTLE does he know... :rolleyes1

Anyhow, if you can believe it, less than two weeks after we returned, my DH and I packed up and headed BACK to Orlando for a Disney Cruise. This was already planned and paid for -- it was really quite reasonable! -- and my DMIL took care of the boys at our house while we were gone... they had to go to school ...

So if you enjoyed reading along, know that I am revving up to do two things this weekend! Load my Cruise photos (actually I just did :thumbsup2 ) and second, start my WONDERful getaway TR... Gee I feel like Samantha Brown () NOT.

Anyhow, I hope you will come and join me!!!! :wave2:

I was wondering when you were going to hit the crowds! That's when we were there last year, Sat-Tues were insane with the holiday crowds.

The Contempo Cafe thing cracks me up. It's the WPE of this trip!

Looks like a very pretty day :thumbsup2

Yep, that CC is hard to beat! It is so convenient to the MK! We actually only ate there twice, and The Wave once, but on a four night stay, it does factor in a few times!!! still I can't wait to be at BLT this summer! Now, I must say once there we will probably descend on some other resort QS restaurant :rotfl:

You know you are right -- I think the crowds really came that weekend, and stayed the week including the Monday holiday. We left that Sunday and were very glad we did!

Looks like a beautiful day! Of course you made the best of those crowds!:thumbsup2 I love the picture of the three guys tugging on the sword!:goodvibes

Oh it was a beautiful day. Sun makes such a difference! :goodvibes I like that pic too! Funny to see them in actions! We did our best with the crowds, of course we were off a little by showing up so late, but we just went with the ebb and flow of the people around us!

Ice cream in Disney always tastes better!

Can't wait to see what souvenirs you got.

Well the posts are up!

And YES Ice Cream at Disney definitely tastes better -- I just wish the calories didn't count!!! :rotfl:

Great couple of posts. I am so enamored with the idea of just picking up and going for a spontaneous trip. Boys are as cute as ever -- especially giving their all to remove the sword from the stone! It does look like it turned out to be a beautiful day. Glad you got to enjoy the sunshine and ice cream!

Looking forward to your souvies, next TR and PTR!! Lots of Disney in the Happydog household!! I wouldn't have it any other way!!! :)

You know that is exactly how I felt it was a thrill! AND FUN! :goodvibes Ice Cream in the sunshine was hard to beat.

ALWAYS lots of FUN, especially Disney fun ;)

You can really get a sense of how crowded it was with this shot!

Man it was crowded! That Holiday weekend stuff I guess! I also would call this mid-day madness! Which in all our other trips we always avoided!

A boy and his ice cream -- true Disney bliss!!! :thumbsup2

YES, that about describes it! :)

Hurray for souvenir pics!!! Getting out my wish list now...

I :lovestruc this shirt! Connor needs it! Of course, being the Star Wars nerd that I am, I am sitting here quoting from the movie, "TK 421, do you copy?" :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

OH you would all get along with my guys famously... they are planning a "seige" on some droids as I type... I hear the "play" from the basement coming up the stairs right now...

I have the giraffe key chain in this line! It makes me smile all the time!

I WANTED the Giraffe! But they didn't have the yellow and brown beaded one when I went back to get it, so I got the monkey instead, I agree, it makes me smile all the time too :)

The bracelet is right up my alley in terms of fun jewelry. I wear bangles and such all the time.

Yep, both of these are going on the wish list!

They were cute, I know!!! I have a few more I had my eye on... I will be swinging by there in June... :thumbsup2

I am in love with the shirt on the left! Too cute!

Hurray for more fun!!!

Me too! I saw it this past fall, and December, and then finally I said, OKAY!

Great souvies. I really like that bracelet!

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise. And, more surprises??? Do tell!

Thanks! I will get that up and running tonight, I promise! :thumbsup2

I  the bracelet too... it goes with so many of the bangles etc that I currently have.

Great finish to the trip! Nothing like some Disney ice cream to get you ready for the road...
Thanks for getting me ready for some souvie shopping! I certainly have a few more items on my list now!
:goodvibes

NOTHING like Disney Ice Cream I agree! OH I know it doesn't take much to get YOU ready for shopping WigD :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

BUT I am glad to oblige nevertheless!

OH you would all get along with my guys famously... they are planning a "seige" on some droids as I type... I hear the "play" from the basement coming up the stairs right now...

Only if I can be Princess Leia! :rotfl: I have a blaster and some lightsabers I could bring -- well, Connor would be bringing them, but you can never have too many weapons for a droid seige. :rotfl:

Love the rest of your souvenirs! We are big fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas, too, and have the original CD, know all the songs, etc. Judging by that ticker, I have a feeling I know where you are headed with this one (literally and figuratively ;)). By the way, I am changing your name to Sneakydog. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Can't wait until that cruise TR is up and running! You know I will be over there! :thumbsup2

Tonight? Hopefully we have time to go for dinner, get home and still make page one!

Hmmmmm, Justin has a baseball game at 7:00 (burrrrr) and we are going out with friends to eat afterwards. Jennifer - you need to start it now please!! ;)

Is that the cure? She has not been busy enough? :rotfl2::cool1::lmao:

HA!! Well her BUSY is probably busy enough, so let me clarify -- my busy is TWO little boys with more energy than a houseful of puppies, and THAT plus a husband who is very good at letting them loose just when I walk towards Mouse Gears, or World Of Disney, or Main Street Emporium...

I am robbed, I tell you! Robbed!!!! BUT this trip HE did many of the purchases = can you see the connection between two little boys with Star Wars and a 38yr old man with Star Wars? The line between is very blurred... DS7 HAD to have this ship to go with his Xwing... and DS7 HAD to have this book b/c someone had the same stories when he was growing up, and DS7 HAD... seeing the pattern here??!!

No, WigD is her OWN kinda BUSY and she STILL manages to get the best shopping deals!!!

Sorry, Shocker, I know the truth hurts :lmao:

What a great trip - awesome resort, fun times, nice souvenirs, more trips ahead....you can't beat a life like that! :goodvibes

I didn't see the alien with the hat, either. That would be a wonderful addition to my Christmas tree.

It had to be hard to go back to all that snow!

Looking forward to the next report. :woohoo:

Only if I can be Princess Leia! :rotfl: I have a blaster and some lightsabers I could bring -- well, Connor would be bringing them, but you can never have too many weapons for a droid seige. :rotfl:

EXCELLENT!!!!! Well for you CP, Princess Leia ANY day. This is why I SOOOOOOO want to go for Star Wars Weekend! My goal is to try for May of 2011, over Memorial Day. I know my boys would absolutely love it. We miss it otherwise, as our school year ends before then. We have the cruise, so this way we can go to WDW and not feel that we have to go there AND the cruise. I think, if we like Vero, we may go for the Cruise and Vero in one week. Anyhow that is MY plan!!! And you are correct. You can never have too many weapons!!

Well, I can't be tooooo sneaky, if you have already figured it out :lmao: I was just bursting at the seams to say something!!!! So you got it, then! And I am so excited!

Can't wait until that cruise TR is up and running! You know I will be over there! :thumbsup2

I am glad you found the link! :goodvibes

Tonight? Hopefully we have time to go for dinner, get home and still make page one!

YOU DID IT!!! :cheer2:

Same here! ;)

DITTO!!! :cheer2:

Hmmmmm, Justin has a baseball game at 7:00 (burrrrr) and we are going out with friends to eat afterwards. Jennifer - you need to start it now please!! ;)

BURR is right!! Baseball already? 7pm!!?? Isn't that a beer and hotdog in the setting sun wearing shorts and a ball cap kind of sport??!! I hope you made it over!

Just had to ask: where did you get that cute little alien ornament? I love it. Must get one...

I love it too!!!! They have a series for all the Toy Story characters. They were on an endcap at the Christmas store... they had the other characters too, and all of them have a "touch of Disney" I refrained, knowing I would be back in June....

:woohoo:

Thanks, MeMom!!! It was a lucky time for us, that is the truth. I am so happy we were able to go! see above -- I got the alien in the Christmas Store, check for him this summer!!!

It was hard, it still is lingering in pitiful black dusted piles here and there, but this weekend was in the mid-50s so I am happy to say it is probably over!

Next report STARTED!!!

I really enjoyed this TR! I'm jealous that you guys were able to pull together such a spontaneous trip! Heading over to your new report now. :thumbsup2
