Okay I can appreciate a snow day or delay just like anyone else - but let me sleep in! The superintendent called at 05:35. This should be illegal!!!!! I've been up ever since - good thing the kids are sleeping and I can read/post. I think I'll call that super at 05:00 on the weekend when he should be sleeping - UGGGHHHH!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Our call came at 5:00 this morning as well. LUCKILY I am the type that fall right back to sleep!! My husband on the other hand is NOT that lucky...we both work in a school...so we are ALL home today.

I got 3 phone calls this morning! The first at 5:30 telling me it was a 2 hour delay....then I had to get out of bed and find my snow chain list to call the next person. I had some trouble falling back to sleep and DD6 woke up at her usual 5:45 time so I sent her to watch tv while I tried to go back to sleep.

Then the 2nd call came at 6ish telling me that school had been cancelled instead...back to the kitchen to find my list, call the next person, tell DD there's no school and she can go back to bed if she wants (yah, right).

So I crawl back in bed, all excited to sleep in now...start drifting off....and the darn phone rings again! It was my SIL who works in the same school district as me, making sure I knew school had been cancelled so I wasn't rushing around trying to get to work in the storm. Very thoughtful....but I did finally get back to sleep....until the kids started fighting.

OMG, I'm not alone in the 5:30am snow call world!

I'm not a teacher, but our district has an instant alert system(which I figured was for BIG EMERGENCIES, not snow or fog delays/closings).

I think they finally figured out parents don't need to be called that early, last one we had was our last day before Xmas break and I got the call at a more reasonable 6:10 am(about 40 minutes after it was on announced on tv).

Knowing our district, the moms with the pitchforks and torches probably did their protest at a school board meeting.

Or someone figured out how to use the program and you could have different groups called at different times.

Our Super has to call that early as we have buses that come from Boston and leave at 5:30 AM!

I agree Kim though, the third call that woke up the baby was less that favorable!!

Our snow day call this morning came at 4:42 am!!

I did fall back to sleep, but it made getting up much more difficult. DD7 asked, "Why did the phone ring in the middle of the night?"

6:10 is much more reasonable. I will have to put a big foot up somebodies you know what!!!!!!!!;) I think we have the same people living here so hopefully it won't happen long :rotfl:

Ragtoplay - 4:42 now that's just plain torture - fire that super!!!:confused3

Hi Kim! (Jacksmom99) How was your trip? How are you feeling? The kids are at school so I get a little peace before I have to go to work tonight at 11p.

Mine came just after 5:30, but it was in Spanish. The English version came shortly thereafter...

We managed to not have to be on the list (it is optional to be on the snow call list) of course that means we need to get up to log on to the districts' web pages or news channel. No school here today it is our second snow day this school year so far and already a couple of hour delays. Hopefully we will still get out at a reasonable time in June.

I actually just looked at the call history on my phone and they actually called at 4:40!!

I seem to have the opposite problem. I am a teacher in a different district from my kids. Our super never decides to call school until 5:30...but I get up at 5:10 for work! We stagger our shower times in our house, so I couldn't wait to find out if it was closed or not. So I got up to have a shower, got dried off and dressed, and THEN got the call. Ugh. Couldn't go back to sleep after that.

I probably should have showered the night before, and I usually do if it looks like bad weather, but I had too much to do last night. Oh well.

That happened to us last delay. We got the Spanish version first! I am also in Milford! My husband got the first call which was for my daughters school.....then I got up to get the next call as my son goes to BVT and :lmao: I never hung up the phone! I am a petsitter/dog-walker and I had clients trying to call me! OOPS! :rolleyes1 I guess they figured I'd be up because of the kids, but thankfully we can all go right back to sleep! And we all slept until 8! Well, except for my teenage son, who when I left for work at 11am was STILL asleep! I have no idea what time he got up! :rotfl: But he enjoyed his snow day!

Remember, it's all relative. Some of us get up at 4:45 every day to go to work, even when it snows... :rolleyes1

(I was a teacher in a past life, so I know the other side too :thumbsup2 )

My call was at 5:45 AM. Then I tried to go back asleep, but my boyfriend called 15 minutes later to say I had a delay. Duh! ROFL.
