Spray cheese is so processed that it's barely food for humans, let alone fish. There are plenty of fish to be found at both beaches, so I would not worry about bringing a fish attractant of any kind. As others have mentioned, there is no coral, because it would be killed by people stepping on it, just like most of the coral in, say Trunk Bay on St. John. Still, it was a lot of fun to snorkel in both spots. Be sure to check out the map of the snorkel trail so you know where to go. We just got into the water and ended up having to zig-zag across the area to see everything.
The snorkel equipment at CC seems decent, and is sanitary. We chose to buy our own masks and snorkels, however. The main thing this gets you is a good mask fit. Seawater stings if you get it in your eyes, so you want to find a mask that doesn't leak. Having your own snorkel is nice because you can get a "dry" snorkel with a flap that closes when you submerge. That means you can just breathe normally after surfacing, without the need to "clear" the tube. Worth $20 to me. There's no reason to get your own fins, because they take up a huge amount of room in a suitcase. You can rent fins at CC for $7-8 a pair, without getting the whole package. Have fun!
